They have the best chocolate covered strawberries and bananas! They also have really good ice cream! The best ice cream ever!!! I always have to stop here whenever I’m in town. It’s very delicious and reasonably priced! The people here are also super friendly!

McHenry location: Disappointed in the service. The first young gal I had was very courteous and sweet. She had wonderful attitude and seemed eager to help. We realized needed a few more items and came back into the store after dropping off first purchase in car. The second person was rude and impatient. She was not helpful at all and a bit sarcastic when asking about the products. I initially would have rated the store 4… but she brought this rating down to 2 with the attitude. She additionally seemed un-​educated about the type of credit cards the store took and oblivious to the Small Business Saturday. Chocolate is good and comparable to most chocolate places with quality but think they are a bit pricey.

Yummy yummy! Always happy helpful faces working there & they are open pretty late! I only go there for the «home made» stuff, but they have a big variety of big brand candies you might not find elsewhere :)

I love that there’s a chocolate factory right down the street from my mom. Even though she’s been there for 9 years, I haven’t been a super-​frequent visitor nor sampled all of their offerings; rather, it’s more of a stop to get treats for friends and family.
Every Christmas my mom gets me a 1# assortment. It’s SO GOOD, yet so sinful. You know when you say you’re going to limit yourself to 1 or 2 pieces, and then it’s so good that you rationalize with yourself — «Just one more»? And then before you know it you’ve eaten half the box? Yeahhhh, that’s Riverside Chocolates. The chocolate covered + icing decorated Oreo is my absolute favorite and I save it until the very end! The fudge is also really great, and they have so many delectable flavors it’s hard to choose which ones to get. We always stop in and get chocolate covered orange peel for great aunt Norma. IMO, they’re better than Fannie May.
I stopped in the other day and picked up 6 boxes of assorted chocolates as Thank-​You/​Happy Summer gifts for a friend, my aides, our secretaries, and my boss. They were already beautifully wrapped, which was awesome. (Saves me time, since I’m super OCD when it comes to wrapping things.) Prices are pretty reasonable when you consider it’s all fresh and hand-​made on site: $ 20 for 1#, $ 10 for ½#.
I spied some chocolate covered bacon when I was checking out. Interesting, but I had to contain myself. I need to stop in and try a chocolate-​dipped banana or something this summer as a treat after a bike ride!

I have never had one thing from here that is not absolutely to die for. I don’t go in often as i am trying to be better behaved with what i consume. When i feel like bring naughty, this is where i go :) The fudge is KILLER!

Everything about this place is great! From the little store it’s in, to the staff to the homemade chocolates! You cannot go wrong. Once you come here you’ll keep coming back.

Go for the Ice cream, stay for the olde time candies and all the chocolate and fudge treats.

Their fudge is wonderful and creamy! Their sea salt caramels are to write home about often! Chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick, you can’t get much better than that! Ice cream anything is heaven, but their housemade ice cream bars will be one of the best treats you’ve ever eaten or shared!

The thing that makes riverside even better is their wonderful staff! Every member seems to be trained very well and anyone I’ve ever encountered has been friendly and helpful!

Super nice staff! Fun little shop. Brownie sundae w/​a scoop of heap of love ice cream is amazing! Choc. Covered cherries are outstanding too.

I was hoping gnomes lived in this little hut.
But it’s okay because instead there is CHOCOLATE!
Obviously, strawberries covered in chocolate are the big thing here. The other items are awesome as well.
They carry a bunch of different candy that can be difficult to find.
The price point for some of the items is a bit high, and they were not able to clearly tell me about which items contained gluten.
Overall, you will love it!

Three words. Chocolate covered strawberries.

Nice chocolate shop out in the boonies of McHenry county. Check ‘em out if you’re ever in this neck of the woods. There’s a Harley store across the road if you need more motivation, though fresh-​made chocolates should be enough to lure you here.
We ended buying a lot more than we anticipated, which lightened our wallets a bit but our stomachs were not complaining.

I have purchase ‘many’ boxes of candy each year for the last 10 – 15 years as gifts for business relations as well as family and friends. I am shocked and totally dissappointed. Today I opened a box of spare candy and realized it had changed from previous years. The cute little Christmas hand decorated candies had been replaced by very generic looking candy. My favorite piece… the big carmel — not in the box. What the heck!
These boxes of candies has always been a unique gift -…we could of gotten this years candy selection from any candy store.
Chocolate was ok… wondering why they changed… I will spend my ‘several’ hundred dollars somewhere else unless next year.
Too bad.

Had a chocolate-​covered strawberry and also a bought a box of assorted chocolates. All very delectable and in my opinion better than See’s. I can’t wait to come back and try their ice cream and other goodies.

This is a very dangerous place to walk into. Be prepared to bring home a lot of yummy treats. I really enjoy their chocolate dipped macaroons and truffles. I got my friend chocolate dipped strawberries for her birthday. It’s worth the money.

I felt like a lil kid at the candy store when walking in here the other day. I wanted to stop here to get some candy for our movie. Well PROBLEM was I spent so much time staring at the selection that we missed the movie but was definitely worth it. I loved the shape of this place… it was like walking into a playhouse. Chocolate covered anythign was awesome (wish they had choc covered gummi bears though)…and they had DUTCH mints! Fricken Amazing! If you are ever in the area make sure to STOP at this place. You will not regret it.

How-freaking-’bout-it!!! Sorry, when it comes to places that deal in fresh chocolates and nostalgic candy, I sorta lose it.
While I’d be the first one to point out that even at their best, chocolate-​dipped strawberries are a tired, unappetizing cliché and, IMO, a waste of perfectly good chocolate — everything else they do here is freaking wicked.
From chocolate-​dipped waffle cones (please make more of the white chocolate type for my partner!) ready to hold their excellent quality hand-​dipped ice cream, to caramel turtles and dipped pretzels and toffees — man! This is chocoholic ground-​zero. Nobody knows the truffles I’ve seen…
I really do kinda go nuts around this place. My cool «field biologist/​lumberjack HMFIC» thing just goes right out the window. I’m suddenly ten years old and I want one of EVERYTHING!!!
I guess that’s how a really good candy shop is supposed to make you feel. From the goofy architecture to the contents of the hand-​made candy case, this place is what your Wonka-​addled dreams have been asking for.
