Zardo Pasta

Large Menu with lots of choices and great toppings. Might be difficult to get out spending less than $ 10. Service was great

Food was good. But to me that’s the easy part. The earrings guy at the counter kept speaking to me like I was an idiot. Everyone was looking out of their bubble a if no one was looking in. There was no connection with the guests. I’ll try again after they’ve been open a bit. But for now I’m eating at Flippin.

Food is OK but always out of things… and what kind of pizza place never answers the phone?
So frustrating!

Stopped for lunch on a Thursday. The staff were very polite and kind. Food was ready within 15 minutes and it was delicious. I ordered from their pasta selection… Whole wheat fettuccine, with a mix of bolognese and Alfredo sauce (I ordered that way, love mixing these!), fresh mozzarella, arugula, mushrooms and peas. It was very hood and the portion enough for lunch and dinner! ;)
This is a handmade, high quality pasta/​pizza place and I’ll de direly be back. Heard their banana/​chocolate pie is amazing! Will definitely try next time.

Went there last night for dinner. Here is the next 30 minutes:
I ask what the best hot sandwich is. Girl has only tried the tuna.
I ask what the biggest portion meal is. She replies «I have no idea»
I order the chicken blt and am asked if I want the meal with either a salad or chips and a drink. I say no drink but yes on salad. Can I sub chips for the drink? No. But wait the drink is $ 2 and the chips are $ 1.20. So you are saying I can not sub a cheaper item for a more expensive one? Nope. Why? Thats what the owner told us. Ok. Stupid.
The $ 8 ravioli comes out and is a total joke. The pizza is a personal pan pizza for like 10 bucks, and the breadsticks are hollow. Thats right… you pay for breadsticks but there is no bread. So I get pissed and request a refund. The «manager» on duty (some kid) says he cant refund anything because the owner wont let them. So the manager has no power to make any critical decisions, and the staff doesn’t know anything about the products. Great training.
In summary, food is acceptable quality but not great, portions are a joke, prices are high, and they wrap it all up in this overdone kitchen to make you think you are in some kind of upscale eatery. How about just make good food and don’t rip people off and empower your staff to handle situations like this rather than putting some kid back there with no customer service experience?

My wife fell in love with the green salad and ESPECIALLY the balsamic dressing — made on the premises! I commented how she enjoyed it and the chef caught up with us at our car with a sample to take home!
Seriously NONE finer!!!

Very nice and friendly staff, took time to answer all. About their menu and made recommendations of what to order.
Lots of variety, plenty of options on the menu. $ 8 to $ 15 range.
Some desserts too.
Food tastes pretty good. Had the pizza, salad and a sandwich.

Stopped here during work lunch to try a new place close by. Had the Turkey BLT sandwich. It wasn’t bad, although a bit plain I thought. Fairly skimpy on the turkey, was mostly veggies. Bread was «squaw bread» which looked like ordinary whole wheat to me. Total for sandwich and a soda was 10 dollars, average for a deli sandwich around here but I would have expected a better portions size for that price.
I imagine their pizzas and pastas are better than the sandwiches since it is an Italian place. I may try that next time. I probably won’t get the sandwich again.

I would have went 5 if this was a true sit down restaurant. I just hate ordering at a cash register and then sitting down. OK done whining. The food was pretty darn good. Fresh ingredients in my pasta. The girl that took my order was very nice. I was pleasantly surprised. Not bad at all!

I’ve only been here a handful of times, but every time I’ve come here, I’ve been really pleased with the food and service!
I’ve had the pizza, ravioli, a lemon dessert, and banana cream pie, and everything was great! Please note, though: their pizza is fairly thin (fork-​and-​knife usually required). If this bothers you, you might not care for it. But the ingredients are SO fresh, and the pizza crust has a lot of flavor. Decent beer and wine selection compared to some places. We’ll definitely be going back here.
This is a great place to go if you want to treat yourself without going too pricey – a step up from a chain restaurant but still casual.

I wish this place was good considering I love right up the street but the food just isn’t very good.
I got a spicy chicken sandwich from the Hot Sandwiches category. The sandwich was neither hot nor spicy. It was a barely warm chicken breast on a cold french role. It was a flat out terrible sandwich. I wouldn’t have finished it if I hadn’t been starving.
I am giving Zardo 2 stars because my girlfriend had a pizza which tasted ok.
To top things off this place isn’t cheap. It’s an expensive joint and when you pay those prices you expect way better quality.
One thing that also bothered me was the sign at the register that read «no refunds»
It’s as if they know they are ripping you off and want to let you know that ahead of time.

This is a really hard review for me to write because I want to love Zardo’s and like a fool I keep going back there. Their food is tasty but a tad overpriced and the service is lacking. For example, the last time I tried to place a phone order I was cut off after every item with the Zardo employee asking me if I wanted anything else or prematurely giving me my total. Zero listening skills and this was after a five minute hold where the phone was just laid down on the counter so I enjoyed all of the background noise. The time prior to that I tried placing a carry-​out order at 8pm on a Saturday and no one picked up. I assumed they were already out of business. Basically their poor service is par for the course for the five visits I’ve made there and unless something changes, I think their Vista location is going to have the same fate as their closed Encinitas location.

Wow. We came here on a whim and oh my goodness! My daughter and I got the turkey pesto sandwich to share and it was heavenly. One of the best sandwiches we have ever had. We should have each gotten a whole sandwich bc we were fighting over the last bites. So yummy and everyone was super friendly. We will definitely be back. So yummy! Cant wait to try something different.

I really liked the food here. My pasta was fresh and tasted delicious. The service was fantastic and everyone we talked to there was really helpful and friendly. They have gluten free pastas and pizzas and their menu is quite large! I’ll be eating here again real soon!

Grabbed some food here on my lunch break at work. I had pasta with alfredo sauce (which is vegetarian!) and broccoli. The serving was small, the pasta was good and they gave a good amount of broccoli, but the alfredo sauce wasn’t good. It needed basic salt and pepper.

I love Zardo’s! Whenever I come in, there is nothing but smiles and great food! I want to address Diana S’s comment and her poor rating. Her side of the story is from her perspective and now let’s bring up the other side from a customer who was there. Diana was plain rude and demanding. Sara didn’t involve other customers. She was asking someone else’s opinion on the size of the pizza so the view came from a customer and not someone trying to sell «the most expensive item on the menu». Whenever I come in indecisive, Sara always helps me out to try to pinpoint what I’m craving or if I would like to try something different. I personally get the salad and customize my toppings, which is nice because I’m able to pick and choose while still making the most of my meal. The homemade dressing ties it together. Oh and the dessert is fabulous… I can’t stay away!

I ordered two sandwiches: a Caprese and a spicy roast beef. Both were good, tasted fresh and flavorful. But it was $ 24 for two drinks and two sandwiches. A little overpriced for what you get, in my opinion. But, I wouldn’t be opposed to trying their pizza or pasta out. A lot of the other reviews seemed to like them.

My daughter wanted a burrito from Mrs. Taco which is nearby, so I decided to have my husband and son try out Zardo’s. They checked out the menu online and placed their orders with me. I drove out there since it’s relatively nearby and ordered there first and then went and got Mrs. Taco.
When I picked up the pizza out of the car, I was surprised at how light it was. I asked my son about his lasagna and said it was just ok. A small portion too for nearly $ 10! I then asked my husband about his Mozarella pizza and he said the crust was thin and there just wasn’t much to it. Rather disappointing for again, nearly $ 10! Probably won’t go again unless there’s a deal published somewhere.

Both my husband and I like woodfired pizza and usually hit up Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza in San Marcos. With Zardo being a little bit closer, we thought we’d give it a try.
When we go to Sammy’s we usually order two pizzas and a salad to share and have left overs for lunch the next day and spend right around $ 40. When we went to Zardo, we ordered two pizzas and a salad and spent about the same. However, the quantity and quality of the food just wasn’t up to par with Sammy’s. The pizzas at Zardo were good but not great and the salad was WAY over priced. We’ll probably go to Zardo again and try out the pasta or something else but for pizza and salads, we’ll be going to Sammy’s.

Zardo Pasta is one of those places that have you wondering if they would be successful in other states besides those on the left coast. Yes, it is great that the food is fresh, organic, and gluten free is an option; however, what is an acceptable price point? I honestly believe for the price to portion ratio this place would not do so hot east of the California border. I was really excited to have the opportunity to create my pasta. I took advantage of being solo on this trip and ordered everything that the hubs does not care for such as spinach pasta, zucchini, eggplant, and omitted the meat (in essence a «non-​manly» meal without meat). I ordered take out and was somewhat taken back by the size of the container and that my pasta did not fill the brim for the $ 10 investment. The pasta was good and fresh, but still I remained a little underwhelmed with the portion. As far as the ambiance and level of service, it was all good. I am not sure though if this Texan girl will return knowing the minuscule portion size. There are simply too my other pizza pasta places in the immediate area.
