History

Established in 1993.

I have a B.A. in Theatre from U.C.S.D., and a Masters degree in Drama from Tufts University. I attended the Shakespeare Conservatory of La Jolla Playhouse. My degrees encompass training in musical theatre, singing, acting, performance, writing, and directing, but I have also studied music and art privately all of my life.

Last year, I ran the Visual and Performing Arts Department (VAPA) at Dehesa Charter School K-​12 in Escondido, CA.

My private studio is now located in Vista, North San Diego County.

Tokeli began her professional career as an actress (UCSD, Tufts University, Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, and the prestigious La Jolla Playhouse Shakespeare Conservatory). As a playwright, Tokeli wrote and directed world première musicals: Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, The Book of Goddesses, Welcome to Camp Yellow Sub, and Jazz in the Night. Upon completion of her Master’s degree in Drama from Tufts University ((where she produced and choreographed for Sarabande Dance Company), Tokeli worked in theatre management, producing and directing for some of San Diego’s small, diverse production companies: Diversionary Theatre, San Diego Black Ensemble Theatre, and La Jolla Stage Company. Her debut jazz album «Where Do You Start?» received nominations for both San Diego Music Awards 2007 and Los Angeles Music Awards 2010: «Jazz Album of the Year» and «Artist of the Year.» This album, as well as the 2013 «Elektrik» EP digital release, received worldwide critical reviews and a 5-​Star
