The Music Studio of Lenore Johnson offers a group music program called «Foundations of Music», to children ages 3 and up. The curriculum features the Orff Schulwerk approach, which is widely used in schools throughout the world. Children in an Orff class learn music through speech, song, stories, movement and playing instruments — in a creative environment that is similar to a child’s own world of play.

The studio also offers private piano lessons to both children and adults, tailoring the curriculum to fit the individual needs of each student. Special arrangements can be made for students who would prefer a lesson in their own home.

History

Established in 1980.

Lenore began playing the piano at age 4 and teaching at the young age of 13. In 1986 she completed her Piano Teacher’s degree through the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto, Canada. Just before she moved to the beautiful city of Oceanside, Lenore completed her Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Orff Schulwerk classroom music training — a feat she accomplished while teaching 85 students who all attended both a private piano lesson and a group Orff lesson each week. In the year 2000 she moved to Oceanside and continued to offer Orff classes and private piano lessons to students of all ages in North San Diego County.

Lenore was born in Winnipeg, Canada and successfully ran her business there for many years before moving to Oceanside in 2000. Lenore actively attends Orff workshops both locally and nationally. She is currently Vice President of the San Diego Orff Schullwerk Association (AOSA).
