This place is great! I’ve been to dozens of mechanics over the years and nothing comes close to Perfect Timing Auto. They are a professional, dependable, and honest group of people (also nice and pleasant to do business with). Their prices are very competitive too. I highly recommend this company.

These guys are top-​of-​the-​line! Been coming here even before I was driving whenever my parents needed car care, and now they take wonderful care of me and my family. Duke and Travis are awesome and so friendly whenever I come in with yet another problem and Duke always calls me to give me status updates on my car whenever it does have to go in and they never do anything without clearing it through you first. The rest of the staff in wonderful as well! Jerry has really picked a wonderful team.

Always professional service with Duke and Travis. I’ve taken my car there many times, and I always get an honest opinion of what’s wrong with the car. In fact my next car will be either a Toyota or Lexus, just so I can keep getting excellent car repair in North County with the guys. They even offer to drive you to your work if you need a vehicle if you’re close. Keep up the great work, guys.

If I could give more stars I would. Duke and his staff go above and beyond for you. They have excellent customer service. I had gone to them a few times and made a bad decision of going someplace else. I took take my car to a place that is know for their «quick» oil changes and transmission flushes. They completely messed up my vehicle and I had to argue with them to get it fixed. I took my car to Perfect Timing Auto and Duke helped with everything, from speaking with the claim representative of the other company to even lending me a car! I refer all of my friends and will continue to do so.

Took my car somewhere else and they said it was going to be $ 1,600. Took it to Perfect Timing for a second opinion who we had used a couple times in the past and was told we only needed an $ 89 alignment. They were aware of the $ 1,600 suspension job the previous place has quoted and could have easily inflated the bill. Talk about honesty.

They seemed to know what they were doing when I arrived and they seem to have happy customers. My experience was a bit different. I couldn’t pass smog so I went to perfect timing auto. They are nice guys but they sent me on a wild goose chase looking for a catalytic converter I didnt need. They looked at my smog report and said I needed a catalytic converter. After posting the failed smog report to smog
they responded saying the catalytic converter is the last thing to suspect and a proper diagnosis should be done. I went to a list of their recommended shops and passed smog. I dont know why they didnt try to diagnose and replace the sensor. They missed out on a $ 400 sale. Im not knocking them but I think I will go to the other guys from now on.

Are they honest? I think so. I found Perfect Timing as they were the Smog Check closest to my work. Nice phone presence. I brought in our 10 year old minivan and they could have tried something to «fix» to pass, but it passed, so they were honest then. Then my personal vehicle’s engine light came on, and they did a great job! Found the issue quickly, gave a good estimate over the phone, gave a good explanation of what broke, and didn’t have any additional charges, unlike that dealer I used to go to. also, it’s a family business which makes me feel even better about their quality of work. So far, so good. Recommended.

I take all four of our cars there and would like to recommend Travis and Duke at Perfect Timing Auto. I have been a going here for 6 years now and am very pleased with the service and workmanship. They have always been fair and it is obvious to me that they value me as a customer. Not just a way to make money but actually value my business. I find their prices to be reasonable and always worth the work performed. The most important thing I like about Perfect Timing is that I feel as though I can trust them. As a woman sometimes auto shops try to take advantage of me and treat me like I don’t know my way around a car so they try to charge me for stuff I really did not need. The guys at perfect timing have never treated me with anything but respect and have never tried to charge me for things my cad did not need. I have never had a problem with the quality of the work performed and I have never had to go back for something to be fixed after they repaired it for me. Quality work done in a very reasonable amount of time with reasonable fees. Can’t beat that!

I had been referred here by a co-​worker and I recently had a chance to stop in as my «older» Toyota needed a SMOG. I have owned Toyota’s and Lexus’ for a while and one of the reasons is of course that I do not have to be seeing a mechanic often… but when I do, I want to make sure it is someone who knows their stuff, and that I trust will not rip me off. I feel I can say that both those are true for the guys at Perfect Timing. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and seem to know most everything about these cars, which is a big plus of course.
As for my initial experience, it went fine… easy in and out, price on the SMOG was reasonable.
One thing that did stick out to me was a comment I heard one of the staff make to another customer. He told them that the business recently sold to a new owner, and that this owner has committed to making no changes to the business or the way it currently operates. This should speak volumes to anyone that hears it. This means that they are doing something right, and it shows.

I came to this shop a year ago, and realized I never did write a review of this place. I came here to get my car smoked, and needed to come to a STAR station. I chose this place due to the positive reviews and the fact that it was close to my house. I dealt with Duke, and my car didn’t pass smog the first time around. The smog was about $ 60. I ended up being quoted $ 1,200 for a new catalytic converter + labor. I was told after replacing the part that I could get a re-​test for free. After the insane price, I decided to get it fixed at RPM for $ 700, and tried to return for the re-​test. I called prior to returning and spoke to I believe Travis on the phone. He told me that the re-​test would still be free though it was repaired elsewhere. Of course when I come in, Duke is there again at the front. After waiting for about an hour, he pulls me aside into the other room and tells me that it will not be free and will have to pay another $ 60. He questioned me a few times regarding who I spoke to on the phone, and didn’t believe my story. I get now that it was a misunderstanding, but I feel it was dealt with really unprofessionally. They’re pricing is extremely high, and they’re pretty rude in there. I went to another STAR station a few miles away and was only charged $ 40. The tech here even pointed out that this shop originally ran the test for the wrong engine as well. I have a 1.6, and they ran the test for a 1.5 engine, which means they didn’t even bother to pop the hood.
My point. they’re dishonest, lazy, unorganized, rude and overcharge. Go elsewhere for better service.

I can’t recommend these guys enough! I’ve only spent time with Duke and Travis, but every time I’ve brought my car in or a friend’s or relative’s car, they have been awesome. They are super friendly, knowledgable, and most importantly honest. I trust them with my vehicles and they have always given me great prices for their service. I recently had a minor issue with my Toyota, and they fixed it for free. It was just a rubber seal, but he still spent time figuring out what the issue was. They are great about explaining in simple terms what’s wrong or what they would recommend for your car, even when it makes them less money. They’ve never tried to up-​sell me which I’ve really appreciated and they’re customer service is top notch. If the repair or work will take a few hours, they’ll give you a ride to wherever you need to go and then come pick you up, all for free!

I am an engineer, auto and racing enthusiast, and occasionally turn a wrench myself. This is a shop is good enough to satisfy car guys (and gals) that may not have the time, space and tools. On the side these guys always have a projects (old Celicas with Lexus V8s, restoring DeLoreans, etc.)
I have been using Perfect Timing for maintenance including brakes, tires, suspension and general trouble-​shooting for more than 6 years and 5 different vehicles (98 Honda Civic, 99 Toyota RAV4, 08 Volvo C30, 08 Mazda CX9, 80 Volvo 245). They are always knowledgeable, detailed in their work, friendly and never pushy. The service is always reasonably priced and appointments are easy to come by, even on short notice. I actively recommend them to my family and coworkers. Try them, you won’t be sorry. Ask for Travis.
By the way, I normally don’t comment on others’ reviews as I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the one star review by Andrew Z is compleley off-​base and misinformed (there was no «change of ownership»). I am not sure why he chose to slam a quality shop instead of taking he car to «[his] mechanic» who would have charged him half as much. Perfect Timing has always provided me an estimate up front.

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP– worst service experience ever. Overcharged me double what my mechanic would have. Was lied to by «Duke,» he said he was the owner. Halfway through repair they called and said the battery died and wanted to charge me another 100 dollars or so. No problem w battery before! They said service guarantee.
Now less than a month later, repair has gone wrong. Change of ownership and now they’re no longer responsible for anything they did just a few weeks ago.
Utterly trash. NO PROFESSIONALISM. Total headache to go to this place.

These guys are fantastic and very friendly. When you come in you feel ilke part of the family. My husband and I have taken our Lexus to them for almost 7 years and we would not go anywhere else. They really know there business and don’t try to sell you work you don’t need. They will take the time to explain to you what your car needs now and what it may need in the future.
This place is the best!!!

What a great, trustworthy shop! I’ve been coming here for about 10 years and I’m lucky enough to have them right by my work. They always welcome you with a smile, right when you walk in the door.
I’ve had every type of service done by them and they always do a great job, while being 100% honest. They never push me to do something I don’t need for my car and they will just recommend any issues, if there are some they noticed, without pushing you to take care of them. If it isn’t something that needs to be fixed right away, they are fine with just watching the problem, until the day comes that it does need to be fixed or maybe it never does.
Tip: If you ever have a check engine light on, they pull the code and check it for free. Now that’s service!

Perfect Timing was referred to me by some friends who have taken several of their Toyota’s there over the years. So, when my IS350 fell out of warranty I was glad to know that there was a reliable place to take my car other than the Lexus Stealership.
As others have noted, Jerry, Travis, Duke and the entire team is very friendly, welcoming and honest. The greet you with a smile and offer you coffee. And when your service is complete, they will describe to you in laymen terms what they found. And as a real bonus, they won’t even make up fake problems with your car and recommend that you buy a bunch of parts.
Not only will Perfect Timing go over the results of their inspection, maintenance, etc. but they will also let you know how critical (or not) the repairs are. I legitimately feel like they value my business and want to make sure I am driving a safe and reliable car without having me spend money unnecessarily.
Perfect Timing will give you a ride or loan you a car for an all day service. And if you find yourself waiting there, then know that they will give you the code to their wi-​fi and sodas in their machine are only 50 cents. Yep, modern day wi-​fi with old time soda prices. Gotta love it, ohh, and the comfy living-​room like chairs.

I realized I had taken my SC300, when I first moved to SD 16 yrs ago, and now my GX470, so for the life of my cars, have been in their hands. Lexus is just the best car, and no one else could take better care of them, then this company.
I have referred many, people to them, and they come back thanking me, and letting me know how much they appreciate the wonderful connection.
Wanted to add a bike rack to my car, and not very knowledgeable, they explained the whole Hitch situation to me, and I walked out knowing what I now am looking for, as they even helped me locate exactly what I was going to need.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a good shop to take my car to. I found this place in Unilocal and thought I’d try it out.
So I’m sitting in their office waiting for my oil change to be completed. They have a nice air conditioned office with comfortable seats. This isn’t ur typical drive thru lube place with crappy seats, an old tube TV and crappy coffee. This place is nice and the staff is friendly. They have a Keurig coffee machine!
As I was waiting another lady came in and the main guy took her info. He then went on to help the lady with her A/​C and gave advice in using recirculated air vs outside air to cool more efficiently. The lady didn’t know much about the recirculating button so he went on to draw it. He then went out with her to her car to show her how to use the auto temp feature for her AC!
While getting an oil change I had them pull the code for the check engine light which they did for free. He also said I was 2qts low on oil which I was expecting bc my oil pressure light came on. He talked to me about the longevity of the car and the possible costs to rebuild the engine if it was starting to eat too much oil. He straight up and told me that it would be better to handle the CEL and then trade it in instead of spending several thousand on rebuilding the motor. What an honest guy!
All in all, I will be taking all my vehicles to this place!

I took my wife’s SC300 there to check out the engine light and see what’s wrong. They did the diagnostic test for free! The dealership wanted $$$ and Jiffy Lube wanted $$$ just to see why the light was on. They located the problem, and a few other problems lurking beneath the hood. The prognosis was laid out and they let me know what needs to be done, and what can wait. There was ZERO pressure to have them actually fix anything, which was nice. We set up an appointment and they finished up right on time.
When my mom’s engine light went on in her Explorer, I sent her straight to Perfect Timing. Not only did they test it for no charge, they found out that the light was on because a vacuum hose was being crushed by her spare tire and they fixed it for free!
