My bf and I were on a short weekend vacation to Virginia Beach and passed this place on our way back from getting Old Timey Photos (his idea not mine!). From the outside it looked kind of cute– log cabin-esque. And the menu posted outside said they had Hungarian pancakes (ie crepes!) Having Hungarian in my blood I was stoked to try it out! Well did we leave disappointed. The inside is very dank and outdated, not very welcoming. We ordered our food and coffee and realized the resataurant was also a buffet! Sometimes I dont mind a buffet but not for breakfast. Our food came pretty quick and everything was hot, but not very flavorful. Just very plain ordered the Hungarian pancakes which were just regular pancakes with the strawberry gel stuff rolled inside. My bf has some sort of egg breakfast with toast. Service was ok but the whole experience was less than appetizing. It was good is you need cheap food, but you get what you pay for.

Walking into this place, it smelled of stale grease and broken dreams. I felt as I was on skid row in some depressing novel.
I even passed one table which featured a haggard old woman who was crying on the shoulder of her much younger black boyfriend which was just weird.
Our waitress was a brassy gravle voiced woman, she was very sweet though.
We had no choice but to do the buffet because the cook staff had «been out partyin’ and didn’t nobody come into work» when the cook staff did come in we had already gotten our plates of buffet breakfast.
The place felt sticky, and I wanted a shower after I left. All this place needs is a street musician out front playing a bluesy saxaphone for change, it will. complete the picture.
And then there was the check, 7 people 1 baby, 6 of us actually ate, $ 160. That’s a lot for a crappy breakfast.
With all that said, the grits were good (second batch was a bit salty) and that’s about all I have to say about that.

We spotted Pancake House from the distance and decided to give it a try. Once we walked in we were disappointed. It turned out to be a buffet and a ghetto one at that. Since we were here, we figured, what the heck and we stayed.
The buffet left much to be desired but I do recall going back for seconds. I also had my first experience eating grits. The waitress was taken back a bit when we told her so she told us what to add to them to make them better. They were ok.
For the quality of the food I believe the price should be cheaper but I don’t make the rules.
