Typical overpriced oceanfront diner. This one tries to be more by stocking a seafood buffet. From what I saw, it’s not worth the $ 19.99 being charged. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was a huge salad. It was also $ 18. Our waitress was very friendly, but not very good at her job. Probably more inexperience than anything. My daughter did scarf down her kids’ spaghetti and meatballs. She had just finished running around in the sand though, so she probably would’ve eaten from a dumpster if she had to. I’d skip Georges. You’ll find better options at the same prices nearby.

The buffet food was bland and not a lot of options. The food wasn’t seasoned well and some were undercooked. For almost 30 dollars, I could’ve gotten something better. The lady who served us was nice and made sure we are good but she was also very confusing. The food on the menu was probably better and could’ve just gotten that and cheaper too.

Over the summer we were vacationing in Virginia Beach and chose to go to George’s one day. What a mistake! The buffet itself was less than impressive. However, something way worse happened. As we were eating, I noticed something moving on the ceiling. A HUGE cockroach crawled out of the air vent and was right above us. It was disgusting! After we brought it to the staff’s attention, they attempted to kill it. They apologized and offered us a different table and new food. As we walked away, I saw the head of another cockroach come out of the same vent. We were absolutely disgusted. I honestly had no appetite. Then, they seated a couple at that table not even five minutes later! Unbelievable! They tried to brush us off and offer us a «discount» as well. We will never go there again and recommend that no one else does. I hope that George’s has looked into it’s COCKROACH problem! If not, the health department really needs to pay them a visit.

The staff is very attentive and the manager/owner stopped by our table. The décor fits the idea of a long standing restaurant. I liked it. I think that the menu needs to be focused on and get away from the buffet. Fresh seafood is always best. A few great entrees will make you just as much money without having to cook a ton of food. The items on the buffet do not stand up well to sitting under the lamps. No crab legs, just fried shrimp, variety of broiled fish, hush puppies, crab cakes etc. Nothing was gross, but nothing memorable either. I’d be curious if ordering from the menu would be better, but we don’t plan to return. There are so many restaurants to try on the strip. I just considered this place checked off.

This is the worst place I have ever been. Everything was so bad. Only service was good. And it’s so expensive. Stay away at all costs. 0 stars if I could.

I had heard on a bunch of message boards that this place was good. My GOD were they wrong. The place is called Seafood Buffet, so I obviously came here for that. We sat down and I told the waitress«two for the buffet please.» She stared and asked, «do you want to see it first?» I was like«uh… I mean I wasn’t planning on it…» And she’s like«are you sure?» At that point I was worried. So I went to check it out. Worst seafood buffet ever. The food was disgusting. There was no crab legs, infact there was barely any seafood. There was fried clam strips, steamed shrimp, rock fish, and haddock. The rest was like really nasty cheesecake paste– like you scooped it out with a spoon. I felt bad because the people were really nice running it and the waitresses seemed miserable because they knew 1. The buffet was bad and 2. Hardly anyone was in there.

Do not confuse with CAPTAINGEORGE’S, but not terrible. There were no crab legs or unpeeled shrimp. Salad was fresh, about half of the selections were fried. Good selection of desserts, including a rice pudding cake that was really sweet, but very good.

My father and I were walking along the main street trying to find a nice place for lunch, and we were craving some seafood. We saw through the windows that the people at the boothes were eating plates of crab legs and shrimp… Jackpot! When we walked in, we were greeted by a server. We asked about the food and was introduced to the buffett right away, they gave us a chance to check it out before committing(visually). It wasn’t a fancy spot, but it was exactly what we were looking for. The food was good(especially the rockfish), and it tasty desserts as well! We left sick because we were stuffed! For a place right off of the main street/boardwalk, it was a good place to get some good food. Another thing, is the service. We noticed the staff were training new servers. Jordan was our server, she was great! I would definitely come here again. Other reviews mentioned this place needing an upgrade/renovation. In my opinion, the place looked nice. I don’t think its meant to be fancy. Nothing was out of place. I recommend this place to everyone!

George’s is one of the many seafood places along the VA Beach waterfront. It’s been years since I’ve been to some of the others, so I can’t make any comparisons. I was initially going to order the broiled tilapia, but my waitress Ana, who was very nice, suggested the buffet. I get the impression that they really push the buffet here. It’s all you can eat for $ 19.95. Now, I’m not a shellfish person, so I had to check out the offerings on the buffet before committing. The verdict: I went with it. I tried broiled rockfish for the first time. I loved it! It wasn’t overly seasoned as it only had a sprinkling of chopped red pepper on it. I also put scampi rice, boiled potatoes, cod fish nuggets, fried pollack, a hushpuppy and chicken wings on my plate. The rice and potatoes were OK. The nuggets were good. The pollack was dried out. The hushpuppy was among the best that I’ve had. The chicken wings were crisp and juicy if a little bland. For dessert, I tried a piece of chocolate cake, which didn’t do much for me. I also tried some kind of white cake with a berry filling, which was quite good. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and found a new kind of fish that I like. They also had fried clams, a Mediterranean pasta with a shellfish medley in it, scallops of some kind, clam chowder and she crab soup, and a few other things that I’m forgetting. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and don’t feel like walking far. There are a lot of options along the waterfront. Can’t say that I would rush back here, but I wouldn’t avoid it either.

This place wasn’t for me looked like an in door school cafateria. Ordered a apple martini bland, plus there was a lipstick stain on the glass which I kindly returned. Had the steamed crab legs and garlic muscle combination, it was cold and I didn’t like the way the muscles looked. I was quite suprised on how fast my order came out wondering it they had it laying around on something warm. This place I will not be returning to. Save your money .

Food was decent… The price of the buffet was the same price as everything else on the menu. So $ 20 for a plate of anything or $ 20 of a plate of one thing. I feel if you are going to promote a buffet you need something cheaper on the pocket to compare it to. Then I go to use the bathroom and it is run down and needed to be clean. You would think that they would work on presentation of the restaurant when you forcing an overpriced meal for $ 20. Never going back here sadly because the server was awesome and friendly

This location has been the worst I’ve been in Virginia Beach. To begin with, the waitress did not give us a rundown on the prices nor what what’s included on the menu. It was overpriced, the food they had in the buffet look like it been there for hours. The waitress kept passing us on the table like we weren’t even there, the plates were not picked up adequately on time when you were done with your first dish had to put my plates on another empty table to get a second plate. did not enjoy being there. Really a bad place to go eat.

This place was terrible! Do not come here unless you want a plate full of rubber and grease. Everything is deep fried to its death and you can tell that they just try to cook as much as they can at one time. The place was pretty expensive and totally not worth it. Save your money and go somewhere else

Awful food! Just awful! Most of the seafood on the buffet was made with fake crab. The clam strips were cold and over-breaded. The shrimp were sandy and overcooked. Cocktail sauce was greatly watered down. The drawn butter had a distinctly fishy odor. The advertisement promised all kinds of things that were NOT there: fried scallops, fried oysters, broiled salmon, fried popcorn shrimp, fried calamari, imperial crab casserole, fried fish of the day… not to be seen! Don’t fall for their appetizing ad. It’s a DUMP!

Shew! Very disappointed this time around! Last time we came to George’s we couldnt wait to come back! The buffet for seafood was perfect since were not huge seafood fans but can handle some. It had everything the last time. Came Saturday evening for dinner & it was busy. The older man who was«seating» people was clueless & very rude! There was a family of 3 – 4(cant remember) who was sitting on the bench waiting to be seated. We walked in & he asks how many. I say«2» he points to a 4 seated empty table & said«sit». So we sit, probably technically taking the other peoples table who was there first. The buffet was $ 21.95/adult. I got shrimp & hushpuppies… wow. Because thats basically what was up there. The older man was constantly yelling at our waitress for no reason. Let me just start on the bathroom… I went to simply wash my hands & about threw up!!! One of the toilets had over flowed all over the whole bathroom & I was walking in it. I stopped what I was doing & left that bathroom pulling up the bottoms of my pants!!! UGHH!!! How gross!!! I doubt I will return. Very very disappointed because We dont eat enough seafood to go to Captain George’s where its like $ 40 a person.

Decided to try this place because it was crowded inside. The salmon I had was dry, the fried shrimp were chewy. Basically all the food tasted like it was precooked and heated in the microwave. I don’t know who they think they’re fooling. The salad bar was mediocre. Very expensive food which I don’t mind paying for if it’s worth it. Our waitress was pleasant. Don’t waste your time. Go get a TV dinner instead!
