Oriental Rug Weavers is by far the very best choice — the only choice in our opinion — for anything related to oriental rugs, whether you’re purchasing, cleaning or repairing a rug — particularly the latter in our case. The owner, Faisal, has unequaled knowledge and integrity and takes tremendous pride in his work which is why he gets such great ratings. He’s an absolute master and true artisan!
We had a very large handmade, family heirloom oriental rug that was far too big for the living room in our new home. We did not want to sell it because of its sentimental value and the thought of cutting it down to fit the room made us cringe — but it was the only option since we wanted to keep it. We spoke with a couple of other well-​known oriental rug dealers and cleaners in the northern Virginia area and none of them were comfortable reducing the size of the rug since it was handmade. Then we found Oriental Rug Weavers and Faisal. Faisal said it would be a very difficult task and explained in meticulous detail how the rug would have to be cut and restitched. Because the rug was handmade, the stiches were not perfectly aligned going across the rug, so it was not simply a matter of cutting the rug and sewing it back together. It sounded impossible and we were very doubtful that the rug would ever look okay after it was cut, but we proceeded anyway because of our trust in Faisal. When Faisal called and told us the rug was ready we purposefully did not pick it up for a week because we were afraid of how bad it was going to look and needed to muster up the courage to go. OMG were we wrong!!! The job Faisal and team did was unbelievable! We couldn’t even tell where the rug was cut until he pointed it out. How they were able to cut and reattach the rug with a virtually invisible seam is still a marvel to us! The rug is now the statement piece in our home and nobody is the wiser that it was resized.

Bottom line: This review is a challenge and your mileage may vary (YMMV).
From a cleaning standpoint, I would say that Oriental Rug Weavers does a pretty good job and the colors of the rug after cleaning are vibrant. However, I cannot say with certainty that the rugs came back in the same condition. Almost instantly, we noticed small variations and other things we never noticed before. Fringes seemed looser. Stray strands seemed to be more plentiful. Perhaps we imagined it, but perhaps not.
Repairs seemed to be a bit of a debacle. Expectations are always set extremely low which gives the proprietor a wide range of flexibility on what is delivered. The statement of «we will make sure you are satisfied,» is heard often; but this largely seems contingent on one key factor — do they really have the time? The final straw for us was when they repaired a rug over 3 weeks (with 1 week estimated turnaround) only to find drastic flaws once it was unrolled. Once this was pointed out with a «WTF» shrug, the repairer simply replied, «Oh, I guess I missed that.»
From a price perspective, you certainly pay a premium rate. For this premium rate; however, the service seems to be lacking. Calls go unreturned. Plans seems to fall to the wayside. Satisfaction of clients is an afterthought. The knowledge may be there, but it is hard to consume with all of the hurdles to navigate.
Ultimately, all of this is based on 5 rugs of various sizes. The proprietor does seem to really try to keep everyone happy. However, is this one person is busy, you are really left in the abyss of «maybes» and «could have beens.» Maybe we are the minority and maybe our expectations were too high, but shouldn’t we satisfied with the service; especially in such a specialty like oriental rugs?

Oriental Rug Weavers is wonderful from start to finish. I brought in a rug that needed a lot of work. Faisal told me all the work he could do on this rug while also telling me what made most sense to do now and what could wait. I appreciated that he was honest and professional and not trying to rack up huge list. In the end, we decided on doing the work that was more urgent.
A few weeks later, we came back to pick up the rug and WOW. It was gorgeous. He had far surpassed my expectations. He is very detailed and you could tell — the work done was perfect. Faisal even did some extra work on the rug (free of charge!). He is very thorough and genuinely cares about his customers and the rugs.
Faisal can tell you a lot about your rug and it is very clear he is an expert in his field. I can’t wait to find another rug to bring in! He also has a ton of rugs in his shop, so even if you don’t have a rug to repair just yet — you should stop by!
Also, the shop is located on the cutest street with the best frozen custard place next door. It truly is a treat to go here! See you next time Faisal!

I decided to have a rug cleaned and appraised here, after reading all of the fabulous reviews posted on Unilocal.What a lucky day that was! Faisal was most knowledgeable about the rug and explained some things about appraisals which we didn’t know. Since there would not be space here to give you all the details of our subsequent interactions let me just say we ended up buying five wonderful rugs from him, all of which have added to the beauty of our home. On one of the rugs, Faisal did extra work on the fringe, which we had not asked for, after we had bought the rug. We are thrilled with the quality of the rugs and the excellent service provided by Faisal .
My mother had left me three oriental rugs originally bought by my grandparents. I was reluctantly thinking of giving them away because they were worn and damaged after constant use for many years. Faisal immediately identified the type of each rug and its relative value. We had all three rugs cleaned and repaired. I couldn’t believe how wonderful they looked when the work was finished. My husband and I were honestly amazed. This is a man who cares deeply about his work and his customers. I wish there was a rating higher than five stars to give this business.

If we ever have another rug issue, they have our business. they worked to give us the best price and did so. We had a large guest dog chew a corner and edge. right now I can’t tell which one was fixed. actually I’m not sure he ever did tell me. I may have to get out a jewelers eyeglass to figure it out. Yeah it was that good. The cleaning was like wow. I feel like I paid for a brand new rug for a small cleaning and repair price. He is not cheap, cheap as another reviewer wrote: this isn’t the place to take your home depot remnant, but if you have a nice rug, this is the place. They will tell you is the repair is more than the value of the piece itself, of course they are working on some century old family heirlooms that represent more than simply a floor covering. You must ask the owner to show you some of the really hard projects they are working on. it’s something between craft and actual artistry. Quite amazing. Honest, reliable, not over priced, very solid work, trustworthy workmanship for even the antique pieces.

We had an antique Native American rug that had become faded and worn. Faisal, the owner, evaluated the rug and recommended, based on its value, that it be cleaned and repaired. They did an excellent job of cleaning it and reweaving the torn areas.
Now the natural colors of the dyes are back to their original luster.
Faisal also did extensive research to identify the origin and construction of the rug and provided a very professional appraisal.
We now plan to bring him several other oriental carpets for cleaning and appraisal.
He is very personable, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.

We bought several rugs overseas and used them for years. We needed them cleaned, and Faisal was great to deal with. Knowledgable about the rugs and how to care for them. He even corrected some of our paperwork on the rugs! So easy to drop off and pick up for cleaning and he explained exactly what his guys would do to clean and/​or restore the rugs. I bought an oriental rug at an auction. It was very dirty and I had no idea where to take it. I read the reviews on Unilocal and found that the Oriental Rug Weavers had only positive reviews, so I took my rug there. I am so glad to have found Faisal and his business. They did a fabulous job of cleaning my rug, it is so beautiful and soft now. In addition to cleaning, they also can repair rugs and he has a huge showroom full of beautiful carpets. Faisal told me a lot about my rug. He was able to tell me where it was made, not just the country, but the city also and he told me about how old it was. Faisal is now my go-​to guy for information about rugs. He is very knowledgeable and personable. I am so glad that I found this business, I would recommend it very highly.

Faisal and his wonderful staff have cleaned a repaired a Turkish and a Persian sumac for us. Oriental Rug Weavers uses only water for cleaning, protecting the colors of the rug as well as being gentle on the environment. The repairs were excellent – the fringe was re-​stitched and trimmed on one. We needed the rug back in time for a social event at our house, and Faisal made sure that the work was completed on time and completely satisfactory. Besides the great work, Faisal was more than happy to talk about the where the rugs were from, how they were made, and how to take best care of them. We will be bringing in other carpets we have for cleaning in the near future, and recommend Oriental Rug Weavers for carpet needs.

Oriental Rug Weavers did an amazing job on all of my rugs. One was badly stained. Faisal and his staff worked on the rug until the stain was gone. The rugs are very important to me because they are gifts from my husband. Thanks to these kind and hard working people, I have beautiful rugs that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
