About 3 years ago my old optometrist pretty much gave up on me and told me it’s best that I look into getting some sort of procedure done like LASIK or cataract because I did not want to wear glasses and he couldn’t get me contacts that gave me enough correction, my prescription is +16 and I need custom made contacts… Long story short I came here and immediately the staff was very welcoming, understanding and told me Dr. Schell will definitely find a way to help Sure enough he was absolutely incredible! Very knowledgeable and went out of his way to start an account at a new lab that was making a new type of contact lenses that would be perfect for me(silicone hydrogel lenses) I was told I was one of the first few in the country to try them, they are a million times better and much more comfortable than what I had before, I only get about 20⁄40 vision out of them but I’m still pleased He constantly recommends new lens care products and he always takes feedback from me and other patients to help him make accurate recommendations for each specific type of lens he prescribes. Been coming here regularly for the past 3 years and couldn’t be happier! As far as fees, it’s $ 65 for checkup and $ 40 for fitting I believe. Pretty average but they do not take MediCal or IEHP, only cash, credit, CareCredit and VSP. They charge me $ 200 for a pair of lenses that last me 3 months though, that’s what hurts my pocket a little other than that it’s all good!

I’ve been going to Dr. Schell for about 20 years now. Everyone who works there is very friendly and treats you like a friend rather than a customer. I would highly recommend this place! Smaller selection of glasses, but I usually find one that I like :)

Only one thing to say: The stuff is REALLY rude… I actually cancelled the whole process because of how the rude lady treated me. My insurance name is Guardian VSP but that was my first time going I didn’t know I should have said only VSP. she was rude, because if that and on the entire process… even when I was spelling my husband’s last name… the way that she talked to me was so rude and disrespectful that at the end I was angry, frustrated and decided to cancel the whole thing! Doctors please… you may be the best dotctor in town but if your stuff is rude that means a bad image for you and your office!!!

Decent selection, but still very run of the mill for the high desert. I didn’t find anything for me specifically, but I will say the selection was somewhat better than the other facilities in the area. Didn’t end up buying a thing though :(.

I went to Dr. Schell after reading 3 good reviews of him off of , and I was glad I did. I’ve been having issues with glare and blurry vision, and he basically diagnosed me as having dry eyes(no surprise up here with this wind + my motorcycle & computer habits). He also said that I really didn’t need glasses – and that’s what got me. I know for sure that they make money off of those things, but when you go to someone and they tell you that you don’t need something they’re selling, you know the person is honest. They have a great selection of glasses, a nice staff, better technology than I’ve seen in other optometrists’ offices(although it –has– been awhile for me), and he definitely knows his business(graduated UC Berkeley med school). I highly recommend!
