Pacific Ocean Moving and Storage

Just Noticed that the business commented that I never contracted with them. I esigned a binding quote with them and paid them 90 dollars (which was later refunded). That sounds like a contract to me. I posted a picture fo some emails I had back and forth with Joe specifically (as he was the one who handled my quote and payment). I have a lot more I could post as well. But I would not recommend anyone trust this company.

Some information about our move: Victorville, CA & Hesperia, CA to Blue Springs, MO & Odessa, MO. Order picked up on May 29^th. Truck left the yard on June 9^th. Truck arrived June 19^th.
Let’s put it this way: Joe, the «owner» had a very special way to talk himself and his company up. Which is funny because none of the workers that I met actually worked for Pacific Ocean Moving & Storage. All the work was done by third-​party companies.
Let’s start with the pick-​up. They were late by three hours, and when asked about the delay, we were given two different answers. The moving crew told us that they were stuck in traffic, while the office told us that they hadn’t even left yet. When we told them about the second pick-​up, they were confused and had to call the office, twice. The crew worked quickly, taking care to wrap all our items. In paper and plastic wrap. Overall, it took about 2 – 3 hours to load both my house and my friend’s stuff from her house. Unfortunately, that was the last of the great customer service.
On Sunday, June 8^th, we were told that our stuff had been loaded onto a truck and that it was going out the next day. We were them told that it would take about a week for our stuff to arrive. About Tuesday or Wednesday we were called by the driver who told us that they were on their way. Friday, we tried calling both the driver and the company to try and figure out where our stuff was. Both calls went straight to voice mail and we left multiple messages. We didn’t hear back from anybody until earlier this week. Finally on Wednesday the 18^th, we were finally called back telling us that there had been a slight delay and that the truck was back on the road. The entire time we were worried about our stuff, not a single person had been bothered to call us stating the simple fact that the truck had broken down and needed to be repaired!
On Thursday, the 19^th our stuff finally arrived and that’s when we got the shock of our lives. Every single box that we had sent with them was crushed. Some boxes even had tears and holes in them. When I asked the driver about what happened, he told me that «We don’t pack the truck. They pack the trailer, and we haul it out and unpack it.» Not to mention, in order to move some of our stuff off of the truck, they had to remove other people’s belongings which they placed on the wet asphalt! Some of these boxes even had similar, if not worse damage than our own. Some boxes that I saw were labeled «fragile» and «glassware» but they were just tossed around like nothing. After her had gotten out stuff off at our apartment, we then told the driver that we had a second drop-​off. He told us that he wasn’t aware of any second drop-​off and that he’d have to call the office. After he finished his call, he muttered something under his breath, and told us that it was «too far» to do the second delivery. We told him that we had already paid in full for both deliveries and after muttering something else he reluctantly agreed to do the delivery.

If it was possible to give a 0 star I would. To start the movers didn’t deliver on time. I was told it would be about two weeks to get my stuff, a month later they called to say they were delivering it the next day even though I was working. I said it was impossible as I had to work, they then said that it would be two more weeks until I got it so I was without my stuff for a month. Then when my stuff was delivered I had damaged and missing items including my queen mattress. How do you lose a queen mattress?!? Then when I was fighting with them about all this they said that they couldn’t find it and I was welcome to file an insurance claim. Refused to give me a refund. When I filed a claim it took 5 months for them to make me an offer and it was for $ 111 dollars. The insurance company informed me that I declined full coverage insurance even though the guy that booked my move told me I was covered it turns out I was only covered for $ 0.60 a pound and any boxes I packed my self were not covered. Also any furniture with plywood such as bookshelves with the plywood back wasn’t covered. They said I had the option at time of purchase to get the full insurance but I said no which NEVER HAPPENED. The moving company itself was completely unprofessional. I had to talk to them several times and there was no real manager. There was one guy that said he was dispatch manager but he had no say in stuff like booking. His name was Ori. We literally went back and forth over the phone for weeks. My pick up was 6÷7÷14 and the guy I booked with, Richard, said delivery would be within two weeks. On ⁶⁄₁₈ a guy who’s name I couldn’t be sure of but sounded like Yotom called and said that they were going to load my truck Friday and someone would call Friday with an estimated delivery. I told him that Richard said less than two weeks and Friday was two weeks. He said that two weeks is typical but not guaranteed. No one called me at all so I called on the 23^rd and was told they still didn’t didn’t have a date. I didn’t end up getting my until July. Ori was the worst every time I called it felt like he was just brushing me off because he didn’t want to deal with me. When the guys showed up without my mattress he was like oh, well I’ll look for it. After that I never heard from him again. They were never once able to give me a specific date on delivery and they lost all my stuff. When I called the dispatch manager again about the insurance thing he said «Oh well». He absolutely refused to let me talk to the owner. He said the owner had more important things and didn’t have time to talk to me. After a few weeks they stopped returning my calls. This is a list of everything that was damaged:

Collectors clock broken into two pieces
Missing top half and one drawer to two drawer plastic cart dewar that did arrive is broken

Shattered decorative picture frame
Fabric on bottom of the couch cut about 12 inches (possibly when movers were unwrapping plastic wrap with box cutter)
Fabric on twin mattress torn, stuffing is coming out in two different locations
This place sucks do not book with them and do not believe the 5 stars. I would rather carry all my personal belongings cross country on my back then book through them again. They were the WORST!
Legally they are supposed to provide their customers their rights as people moving. They are supposed to provide information on insurance options and a pamphlet called «Ready to move?» Which lists our rights and they did not provide ANY of this. Unfortunately I didn’t know this until after they had started pushing back move dates. I hope you guys read to the bottom of this review and will force them to provide you with all your legal rights before you book with them. They give a bad name to small businesses.

I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU NOT CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY.
My experience has been ANNOYING and AGGRAVATING.
I chose this company because I was contacted by Joe after I had already chosen another company. Joe proceeded to tell me the horror stories of what its like to work with these other companies and although I thought he was a little pushy he seemed straight forward so I just considered it assertive sales which I dont mind.
I was quoted a contracted rate for the accurate itemized list I provided. The guys that came to pick up my stuff were very professional and polite and did a great job wrapping and loading my furniture and boxes.
Thus far everything was fine. Knowing that I wasnt going to have a place to move into immediately I was told that I could have 30 days to call and let them know I was ready to have it delivered. They generously gave me another 10 days. My stuff was picked up the last week of May and I called approximately 1 month later in June. THIS IS WHERE THINGS WENT DOWNHILL.
I waited more than 2 months for my belongings. It was mid September before my stuff arrived. Everything was in one piece for the most part. My dvd case was destroyed but it was cheap anyway so I didnt really care. The back to my bookshelf had a tear in it as well but once again not a big deal. There was a red wet stain on my mattress where something had spilled on it as only the edges were covered in plastic. I had a mattress cover on it though so only the cover actually got stained. No big deal and I never made a claim because the damage was minimal. The problem however was that I did NOT get all of my things.
Im still missing one of my couches. There was an inventory list, the same one written at the time that my stuff was loaded and picked up, that had been signed off on by someone who loaded the truck. Well they obviously didnt do their job well because the couch wasnt on the truck.
Since then I have called SEVERAL TIMES. Everytime I called the moving company I was referred to dispatch. I spoke to dispatch multiple times before it was finally confirmed that they did in fact still have my couch. Since then I have been waiting and waiting and waiting yet again for another 2 months for the rest of my stuff to be delivered.
Everytime Ive called ive been given the same bs answers about why they cant deliver my stuff and ive been told Id be called back nearly every single time I called. I have never received a call from the supervisor and the girl who asnwers the phone, who always said shed call me back, HAS NEVER DONE SO. NOT A SINGLE TIME IN ALL THE 20 OR SO TIMES THAT IVE BEEN TOLD ID RECEIVE A CALL BACK HAS ANYONE EVER CALLED ME. NOT A SINGLE TIME.
I was holding off on writing a review until this situation was resolved but I honestly dont have any reason at this point to think it ever will be since they already have my money. So annoying. Save yourself the trouble and go with one of the more reputable companies. Or hire some friends and rent a uhaul. Thats what I should have done and I completely regret ever hiring this company.

UPDATE: As of 10÷31÷14:
We ended up having to fly out to California from Ohio to get our items back from this company after their contract had expired and our things were still sitting in Los Angeles. We then were told that they never even had a truck and didn’t intend on shipping our things until they did… which could take months he told us. We were forced to hire a new shipping company to move our things and were responsible for getting them out of their warehouse which is IN THE GHETTO…
We were then told that we would be getting a check for the refund that we were owed. We had never seen that check and are currently disputing the transaction with our credit card provider.
We stopped calling Pacific Ocean after we were told several times that a «check was sent in the mail because they had no way of returning the funds to our card that was charged» and it never happened.
This company is filled with lies. Anyone smart enough can read the HORRIBLE REVIEWS and see for themselves!
DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY THEY WILL ONLY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!!

My first move out of state & I was already in a nervous state. I have searched for moving companies and received a few quotes. Most were very cheap but also heard the horror stories people went through. I got a call from Joe who for some reason no one knows what his position is. I finally agreed for Pacific Ocean to handle my move. Now here is where the nightmare started.
April 4, 2014 — Came to my apartment to pick up my stuff. After they dropped my stuff off in a storage unit I rented, the main driver kept talking to me about a bonus promo they were doing at work. Told him if I have the time, I will write you a good review. I am a VERY nice guy and I tipped the guys very well. Later that night, I got a text from the main driver asking me if I wrote the review. I did not respond. The next morning, not only did I get a text, I got an email and also a voicemail about the review. Are you serious?
Drove to Houston, temporarily for work & move to Dallas after 2 months. Kept in contact with Joe for 2 months to give him a final date to Dallas. Stated to me to give him at least 2 weeks from the time of pick up and drop off in Dallas. Told Joe June 13^th. He said that was perfect as there was a truck heading to the TX area at that time. Arrangements made with my building, reserved freight elevator. Even research the building and paid an extra $ 200 for long haul service.
June 1 — Came to pick up my stuff at the storage to bring back to their warehouse to pack the truck that will be going to TX. Since I am in Houston, had a friend on his only day off to help open the storage unit. He said the driver/​movers were very nice.
June 9 — Called Joe and asked about the status on delivery. He stated that my stuff will be delivered on June 13^th.
June 11 — Called Joe again but this time was told to call dispatch. Person who answered the phone seemed clueless. Kept telling me that his boss aka the dispatcher is not at his desk and that he will call me back in an hour. Called again after 2 hours. He said dispatcher is in a meeting and promised to call me back before they close. Guess what? NO CALL!
June 12 — Called dispatcher again & said that the info given to me by Joe is incorrect. No trucks are going to TX at this time. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? I already made arrangements and will be moving to an empty apartment and MIND YOU. I had to OVERNIGHT a check to them to make sure they received payment. Called Joe and no answer. Did not hear from Joe at all. I am furious and pissed at this point as I have to go buy the necessities to live in an empty apartment. After spending a good $ 500 on a blow up mattress, sheets, blankets, towels, etc, still have not received a call from Joe or dispatcher.
June 16 — Called Joe. No answer & no call back. Spoke with dispatcher & yet again. CLUELESS. Demanded to talk to the manager/​dispatcher and said, he has no clue yet as to when the truck is coming. I told them that I have friends from CA coming over for my birthday. Need to have furniture as they will be staying in an empty apartment. Called twice & no answer/​no returned call.
June 17 — Called Joe. No answer. Emailed Joe & finally called me back. Said he will personally call dispatcher & get a firm answer. Joe called me back and stated that a truck will be going to Texas on Saturday June 21^st and my stuff will be delivered. I made arrangements with my building & reserve freight elevator.
June 20 — Called dispatcher to confirm delivery. Said «what are you talking about?» Told him Joe stated to me that my stuff will be delivered this Sat. Dispatcher told me that Joe gave me the wrong info & that my stuff will be «packed» for the truck today (Friday) and will be released to «drive» to TX on Sat. Stuff will be delivered around June 25^th or 26^th. Are u F&*$i*& kidding me? Already stressed out to everyone that my friends & family are coming over on June 25^th for my bday. Isn’t this the same company? Why the miscommunication? Also had to spend another $ 300 for the more blow up mattress and blankets.
June 21 — Called dispatch. Said truck cant leave. HWY Patrol came to check on truck. Tons of problems & can’t leave (Lie! Hwy Patrol doesn’t go to business)
June 23 — Truck release. Won’t deliver till June 27^th. June 27^th? Still nothing. Called again. Arrived July 2^nd. EXACLTY 1 month! Joe gave me 5% discount NOT of total bill but remaining balance. CHEAP ASS!
Spoke with driver. Said he only had 3 deliveries. Now I know why I was lied to. Waited to get more business/​stuff in truck to make the drive worth it. Lies after lies after lies.
When delivery came, spoke with building manager to park in front and use main elevator as its closer to my apt. than the freight in back of building. Gave movers 3x less of a walk (less work). Called/​email Joe if I can get a refund. No response after 2 weeks. Emailed 3x and still no response. Now its time for review!!!

What good guys!
It was my first move last month, although it was last minute because another company stood us up, Richard talked to his dispatch manager, and found us a spot to get picked up on a weekend. We were happy to see the guys working hard, we got them lunch, they were so kind and thankful, it was heartwarming.
We got the keys the new place a day earlier, the guys came in and unloaded everything, Marcus was the same guy that was there in CA and our new place.
For families or anyone really, trust worthy and professional men and women (even the girls in the office were super nice).
Use these guys!

Joe. I notice that this seems to be your standard response when people complain. How else would you describe someone who TOTALLY LIES to a customer by telling them they DON’T have a particular tool available (long neck Phillips Screwdriver) after I show him my basket of 5 tools! I actually had TWO OF them! Richard CLEARLY DIDN’T Want to finish the JOB! I did it myself with the long neck screwdriver I SHOWED him I had.
Also, how do you POSSIBLY justify your movers DUMPING off that entertainment unit in the empty lot next to my building? …THAT is what I would say is a total disregard for private property! ! Trashing the grounds I live at like it’s some ghetto that doesn’t deserve any respect! My neighbors were PISSED OFF… and you expect an apology from ME???
This is a CLEAR INDICATION of how you treat your customers, not to mention their personal belongings!

I moved a 3 bedroom from LA to NYC and hired Pacific Ocean Moving for the job. I have experience in moving and my biggest concern was the price as sometimes the initial quote you receive completely changes on the moving day.
I am very pleased with this company and everything went just right, including the price. If you want a peace of mind without any stressful surprises then move with this company.

Before I begin my horror story about working with this company, I want to make sure you know a couple of things:
First off, I believe they are making fraudulent profiles on Unilocal and giving themselves five stars several times so please beware of this scam. Try looking at most of the reviews under the section that says «not recommended». It’s pretty obvious what they are up to, so please do all your homework like I wished I did.
Second, I want to let you know that we did get our things moved with no broken items, including glass in furniture, crystal and porcelain. They also moved our things across two states within two weeks. Many of the moving guys at the site were friendly and professional, and they wrapped the fragile items well… So, I’ve got to give them some credit. Maybe plus two and minus too more…
I will try to summarize our horror story… The moving truck arrived five hours early and we had twenty minutes to finish packing! Then, if we were to able to get through to anyone, we never got a set date and arrival could have been any day and time within a six week window.
Then they stopped answering our calls, so we used a different line and was told that there may be a truck leaving sometime that weekend so they would call us the next day to let us know. No call, and now we couldn’t get through to them for two more days. Suddenly, to our surprise, we get a call from the truck that they were within five minutes! We were once again unprepared but we managed.
Side note…
They also refunded our first payment with no explanation of what was going on. We wondered if we were ever going to see our things! Then, they took the money out again from the credit card without even an email from them.
Because we did not get a day they were arriving, and even a final amount to pay off the rest of the balance, we were stuck trying to find hundreds of dollars in cash or secured funds — out of the bank, which you can’t do from an ATM with high amounts and it’s a Sunday afternoon and every bank was closed.
They put us, and the contractors they hired to finish the job, in an impossible situation and refused to find a solution.
The people back in the office in California refused still to get in touch with us, and instead tried just relaying a message through the men they contracted to drive here. Neither party was willing to work with me and I was stuck.
I have not felt more threatened in years. The anxiety this mess caused was not worth saving thirty percent we saved compared to the national companies. The more I worked with business, the more scared I got, and they proved themselves to be bogus in my opinion, whether they do the job or not, it’s never right to treat anyone with this kind of disrespect and intimidation.

I just moved in with my fiancé and had to pack & move on a short notice, the guy on the phone (I believe it was Tom) was very professional and willing to help.
The guys that came to pack were super efficient and careful with my stuff.
Great experience both on the phone and in the actual move!

Terrible company.
It has been EIGHT WEEKS, and I’ve only gotten half of my shipment (at five weeks).

These guys exceeded my expectations.
I was very skeptical of moving companies before I hired Pacific Ocean movers because I’ve had atrocious experiences with other companies in past not taking care of my property, and lacking any customer service – especially in my previous move to Phoenix.
When the team from Pacific Ocean came they handled and wrapped all my valuables and furniture swiftly, and most importantly, carefully as if it were they’re own. They put me to ease right away when they were on time for the pick up and delivery with everything in perfect condition. I highly recommend this company because of their professionalism and outstanding customer service because I will be contacting them again for any future moves

My team was great. They were everything you would ask for in a moving company and then some! They were on time, careful, polite, and Clean! I scheduled an appointment with no problem and without a hitch they showed up with 4 guys and finished the entire move as estimated and with nothing broken!
Don’t look any further, just use Pacific Ocean! I cannot wait for them to make my next move painless!

Joe, the insurance options were never reviewed and or explained to me by anyone from your company. The only thing that was stated to me was that insurance is included in my final total for the move. Also, upon request of a copy of the contract, I was emailed by someone in your claims department stating they could not provide me with a copy of my signed contract for my review.
Also, your driver would not release my items and unload them off the truck for me to evaluate them for damages until I signed the receipt/​contract, so I was unable to confirm there was no damage prior to signing the document.
Additionally, the driver picked up a local man off the street (not employed by the company) to help move my furniture. And lastly, the movers from your company packed my furniture, given this the furniture is actually covered under your companies insurance.
It is not surprising that you have not addressed any of the other concerns in my review and many other reviews on Unilocal,such as poor customer service and follow-​up communication through out my claims process, as well as ways to improve your companies process to assure you have satisfied customers as well as minimum damage to goods.

If I could give than no stars I would have. This is the worst moving company ever. DO NOT USE THEM! I cannot stress that enough. I moved from CA to TN on 06÷05÷14 and as of today 07÷04÷14 I still do not have a delivery date. Their excuse is they had a truck break down. That’s right 1 truck puts these guys out of commission. No one will return my calls even the owner Richard Steiner won’t communicate with me. Please don’t make the same mistake I did.

All of the other reviews on here have to be written by employees of Pacific Ocean Movers or friends of theirs. This company is awful. Stay away! All of our belongings that made it are beat up, broken or dirty. Joe and the sales team make everything sound great but in the end they are a epic failure. I’m so sad that after moving across country and paying all of this money our belongings are ruined. Both large mirrors are broken, they lost our beautiful glass coffee table, our couch is beat up and filthy, all of the boxes that say fragile are smashed. There was absolutely no care taken in the process. Pacific Ocean Movers take your money and then hand your belongings off to multiple third party carriers. It should also be mentioned they were late on the pick up and delivery. Terrible experience.

These people are horrible! Do not use, they are unethical and not honorable people! The dispatcher claims he is the owner on the phone? Given a written interstate contract for a specific amount. After their truck is loaded ¹⁄₃ of the way, the dispatcher arrives and wants another $ 2700! Bad, bad business people.
In addition, the company was given an accurate inventory list prior to the move. We had less boxes than we told them in the inventory list. Photos were sent of 2 larger pieces.
They were not the least expensive quote, they just seemed like they knew what they were doing. Obviously not!
The workers at our house that unloaded the truck after we refused to be cheated for additional money told us this practice happens «too much» and their dispatcher has come out to jobs in process and attempted to get more money than the quote and they end up not finishing the job.
Bad company! Bad management! Another company moved us for less than these people with no hassle.

These guys were great! showed up right on time and were incredibly professional.

I move a lot because of work and I’ve used this company a few times already, mainly in California, but also to Arizona. I count on nobody else to move my belongings. They are very reliable and have competitive prices. I had many pieces of furniture that needed special care, they wrapped them up very professionally and when it arrived at my new home it was as I never moved at all (every time I used them!). Everything was marked and very organized and it made my unpacking very pleasant and quick.
Whenever the next time may be that I have to move I will defiantly take Pacific Ocean!
