Jacobson & Tsou Orthodontics

Well it’s been about 7 years since I’ve had braces and I have to say I wish I never came to Dr. Jacobson. I didn’t have insurance at the time when I was 15 so my mom paid Dr. Jacobson $ 5,500 in full up front. He showed us this computer image of a perfect, closed bite after I took all the pictures to begin treatment and told us this is what we are going to get to. I had an expander glued in for a couple weeks before my braces and then I began the journey with braces for the next 2.5 years, coming in every month for new bands. Some time into my treatment, Dr. J was very excited about the new sure smile technology and claimed it would shorten my treatment time. Then later on he said that he would not be able to get my bite to touch and close perfectly and told me he can give me a referral to an oral surgeon at Shriner’s hospital. My family did not want me to go through with surgery and I did not need it, but somehow we were convinced that it would perfect my bite and align my face. He suggested both upper and lower jaw surgery to Dr. Patel. After a series of appointments I was to have the surgery over the summer in 2009. I got my braces off In November of 2009. I still wear my top retainer to this day almost every night, but it doesn’t help much. My teeth were not centered when I got them off. that was the first thing I noticed. When I told dr. j he responded with «they’re only off by a couple millimeters.» Really?! Also, the tooth next to my front tooth wasn’t coming down all the way to actually close the bite. and then after i got the braces off he suggested we put one bracket on that with a wire for 6 months. um no. They are also crooked horizontally meaning one side of my smile is longer than the other. Now I regret the operation so much. One of the screws put in to my lower jaw is poking at he root at one of my molars which caused it to die and has been dead since 2010. It turned black and I am dreading getting the root canal. Also, I have no sensation on my lower lip. I have a bunch of wrinkles on my chin. My teeth bite has shifted since. And I have an open bite. If Dr Jacobson hadn’t so easily pushed and offered this operation I would have never gotten it. My nose moves when I speak and I can’t even close my mouth properly. My jawline is non-​existent (they broke it for the operation). I have spoken to other dentists and orthodontists who told me after that I did not even need the operation and they could have used a device to bring the chin and jaw forward for the teeth to align. Now I am considering getting jaw implants but that would cost about $ 14,000 per Dr. Eppley in Indiana. I solely showed him these same images and he told me I would also need a sliding genioplasty for my chin because it is too long. Dr. Patel at Schriner’s hospitals who did my operation brought my upper jaw so low that I have such a gummy smile and my teeth are always showing, even when my lips are relaxed (which Is always because I struggle to keep my mouth closed). I am too embarassed to post a picture of my teeth, but I may just have to. After my surgery I came in to dr. J’s office and they all told me how good I looked when I was still swollen, but does this look like a normal face?! Beware, make sure to always get second opinions on whatever he suggests. Now I have to pay all this money to try to un-​do the damage he has caused me. Several people told me I should take him to court.

Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Tsou are both truly amazing doctors. They take time to explain and update you on your childs progress as well as explain procedures to my son. The staff is super friendly and very professional. My son loves to go! That says it all. Can’t even begin to describe their beautiful and clean office. Five stars is not enough for this Orthodontic practice.

Staff and Doctors who truly care about the patient needs. They will work with your budget and schedule to receive the treatment you need. Currently my 2 children and I are patients, I had previously been to another office before here. I believe I received better results the second time around and far better on my wallet.
My children enjoy the atmosphere with the iPads and computers.
They stay on schedule and very minimal wait time if any.

I highly recommend Jacobson and Tsou orthodontics. I have two kids that are in treatment there now.
First, I love the check in system where the kids check in themselves. Then, Amy, the receptionist is as friendly as can be. The waiting room is comfortable for adults and has two TVs, iPads, and gaming systems for the kids. A complaint my son always has though, is that he never has to wait more than five minutes to be called in. I, of course, don’t share his complaint! On top of that, they offer free WiFi for the waiting adults. I would say that the WiFi is very slow, however, that isn’t the reason we go there, so it’s OK.
Then, of course the treatment. I have to say that Dr. Jacobson has an outgoing fun personality and my kids like his bedside manner. He explains things thoroughly and never seems rushed. Dr. Tsou is very kind, but has a more serious demeanor. My kids like both doctors. They use the Sure Smile computerized braces system to make sure your teeth straighten out as quickly and efficiently as possible. I can’t comment on the end result though, as my kids are not there yet, but the pictures they stream of their «graduates» all look great.
For sure, one of the greatest assets Jacobson and Tsou has going for them is Lucy. She is one of the nurses there and she is amazing with my boys! She is gentle, thorough, quick, and painless. She makes the kids feel comfortable and makes them feel that their opinions and thoughts are important.
Lastly, they have all kinds of extras like points on a credit card kids can earn when they brush and are on time. They also have parties from time to time. It’s a fun office, where it seems the staff are happy, which makes for happy patients.
i would definitely check Jacobson and Tsou out when making your decision about orthodontic care!

Friendly and very professional orthodontist. Super clean and neat office. They have Apple Mac desktops in the waiting area so you can play games and I think even surf the internet. Not quite sure because they’re always great about not making me wait so long. I love that they stick to the scheduled time. Unlike other places they still have you there waiting and waiting. Great results and always a pleasure to deal with. Thank you!
