Graber Orthodontics

I do not have any comments or concerns about the clinical services provided by this office on behalf of their patients. Rather, I have had significant and continuing problems with staff and other process problems over the past 4 years or so.
This office ONLY OFFERS APPOINTMENTS Monday through Thursday, 8am — 5pm. Then add insult to injury by closing down for about 90 minutes mid-​day even though they have enough staff to rotate for lunch. In short, the only time your kids will see an orthodontist is when they miss school. No early days, no late days, no Saturday hours… not even a quick check-​in during the kids’ lunch period. Now extrapolate that over 15 – 24 months per child, and its truly problematic.
Further, I asked about hours of operations before my first child went into braces. They reduced their hours without any formal notice or acknowledgment to their existing customers.
My second child is having her braces removed next month. If I was selecting an orthodontist for my kid (s) over again, we would receive care from a different practice. This one doesn’t appear to give two shakes.

Graber Orthodontics has been a life-​saver for us! After wasting tons of time and money and painful visits on another orthodontist who was closer to our home (we live in Grayslake), our family dentist strongly encouraged us to see Dr. Graber. Best advice we’ve ever received. Our previous orthodontist, after over a year of no progress with our daughter’s teeth, was recommending we have some of her permanent teeth pulled and resign ourselves to implants. She was only 14 at the time! Dr. Graber did a full evaluation and showed us exactly how he would approach treatment for our daughter. We ended up switching to his practice and could not be more pleased with the progress thus far. Of the two teeth the «other guy» said would not move, one is happily in place and the other is coming in slowly but surely. Not only that, but she leaves her appointments at Graber with a smile on her face instead of with tears of pain streaming down her cheeks like she did after her visits with «the other guy».
The office staff at Graber are always friendly, welcoming and professional and the doctors are all very approachable, positive and KNOWLEDGEABLE! There is no substitute for their combined level of experience and expertise.
My only regret is that we did not start with Graber Orthodontics to begin with. I cannot say enough good things about our positive experiences there. HIGHLY recommended!

I will not recommend this place for our recent unpleasant experience:
My daughter has underbite and we started the orthodontic consultation with Dr. Lee Graber in February, 2014; Dr. Graber asked us to come back in July as he thought my daughter was not fully ready yet for the treatment; In July’s consultation, Dr. Graber again asked us to check back later in November for the same reason.
In November’s consultation visit, Dr. Graber finally said my daughter was ready, and performed the orthodontic impressions for her. We were informed that all the consultations before treatment are free of charge, we don’t need to pay for the consultations, and we don’t have any commitment until we agree and sign the treatment contract.
In December 9, 2014, we went for my daughter’s first try of the braces; we were actually prepared to sign the contract, and to pay for the total treatment fee of $ 5985 as a whole package.
When I was reviewing the contract, Dr. Graber said he wanted a talk to me: he emphasized that my daughter’s underbite is pretty severe, and she may need an «anchorage» procedure in 3 or 4 months, otherwise we will not have the «best» result. I asked Dr. Graber if this procedure was included in his whole treatment package; Dr. Graber said no, because it is a surgery, and should be performed by a surgeon, he himself is not responsible for it; he could, however, refer a surgeon to us, and we need to pay for the surgery cost separately.
I was kind of shocked, because during all the consultations, Dr. Graber gave us the impression that my daughter’s underbite is very common for a professional orthodontist, and he is very confident to fix it. But now I felt like trapped: even we pay near $ 6000, still we may not get the «good» result which was promised, unless we pay an unexpected addition of $ 1500~2000.
I asked Dr. Graber why he talked about this so late, almost in the very last minute. He said, oh I mentioned it before, don’t you remember? Ok, I admitted I couldn’t remember or recall every word he «mentioned» in the consultations, but if he did, it was mentioned very lightly, definitely not as emphasized as it was now. Besides, he didn’t mention even a bit that this is a procedure which is NOT included in his treatment package.
He has mentioned tons of details, steps and medical terms in the consultations, how should a non-​medical-​professional know which are included in regular orthodontics treatments, which are not? Why couldn’t Dr. Graber explain this clearly at the very beginning so we were not misled badly？
I said I need a couple days to think about this unexpected addition before signing the contract, Dr. Graber then immediately said, oh you don’t have to do that procedure … But he just claimed that without the procedure, he couldn’t guarantee us the «best» result only a few minutes ago! Which statement is true? Where should we find our trust in him now?
We decided not to sign the contract, since we lost the trust and confidence in Dr. Graber. He blamed us the person without ethics, and claimed $ 800 from us for the consultation and impression fee. Although we don’t think we have the obligation, as we have never signed the contract or made any commitment, we PAID the money and left — we just do not want to deal with this doctor anymore.

These people want to look like they are nice and experts, but in reality they do not care how they treat you. I came for consultation where Katie Graber and she explained how they could put a plan together for me for orthodontics work, which I liked. The next day I contacted her assistant with questions about payment and guarantees that this plan is going to work for me if I pay the full amount. The assistance turned mad saying that if I do not trust the plan and if I am asking for some guarantees on paper, or plan for money back, then I would be more happy in some other orthodontics office. She promised to call back, but never did. I waited for a week, and stopped by their office, and talked to their manager explaining what had happened, asking how I should understand the assistance’s message. The manager promised to call back and never did as well. I made a conclusion that Grbaer’s instructed both of them to not return calls since they did not want to have any financial responsibilities. But the way they turned all this (not calling back) did not leave a good impression of their communication and professional skills, and their office. I never came back. I heard other negative feedback from other orthodontics about them too while looking. And actually I DID FIND A MUCH BETTER PLACE, thanks to this assistant, who was absolutely right.

This practice is fantastic. Three of my family members have received great care at this practice and achieved wonderful results. One of my kids just got braces off today. I don’t know why I forgot to write a review after all these years but today I realized it was important to tell people about the great care at the practice. My family has received care from both Dr. Graber’s as well as Dr. Kim. They are all very nice, personable people who guide you along and keep you informed about your care or the care of your family member. They are more than informative and happy to answer your questions. Believe me I always have a ton of questions for them and they are always kind enough to answer each one. They also use all the latest technology which is extremely helpful in understanding your care or that of a loved one and efficient when it comes to appointments. The rest of the staff at Graber is as personable and helpful as the orthodontists. It is such a pleasure to come there and know my family is in good hands with people who care about their orthodontia needs. I must say they were also very accurate in letting me know the needs of my children and the time it will take. If you follow all his or her directions we found that each family member completed treatment a little early. If you don’t follow directions to the letter than expect treatment to take longer as the orthodontists clearly explain during the process. Today when I went to pick up my kid from his brace removal I got a thorough explanation of his future needs. As we left my kids was celebrated by the staff for the brace removal and given a mug with all the things he was not allowed to eat for the past 10 months. He was thrilled. Thank you Graber Orthodontics for another wonderful result!!!

Dr. Graber, you haven’t seen me in 25 years. I was 14 at your office at the Hollister building in Libertyville when we first started. I had full braces and you and your staff were so memorable, especially Cheryl. Every dentist I have ever seen gives me so many compliments for «perfect teeth»! I have you to thank and I am so glad to see you are doing well. So many great memories!

I would NOT recommend going to Graber Orthodotics! The first day I met with Dr. Katie she made it seem like a great idea to go there for my braces and of course I fell for it and it ended up being the biggest waste of money!!! They told me I would have my braces off by my 21^st birthday and both Dr. Katie and Dr. Lee reassured me throughout my appoints that they would be… Just a month before my birthday they told me my braces were not able to come off and I ended up having them on 3 more months after that! One of the big reasons I choose this orthodontics was because they made that promise to me of having my braces off in time! Then not even a year later the glue on my permeant retainer chipped off… I called the office explaining my situation and they told me it was $ 50 a tooth plus a visit fee, and etc!!! Talk about huge ripe off!!! It hasn’t even been a year yet and my permeant retainer that is suppose to last forever was already broken. Then not even a year and a half later my top front tooth is crooked and it is so crooked my my permeant retainer isn’t even attached now. Again, I called the orthodontics office about my tooth and they told me it would be again $ 50 a tooth plus all the other fees! This orthodontics office is HORRIBLE! They charge way over price for all of their services and the second your done with your treatment and their is a problem they only way they fix it is by charging high prices and they also do not last! I haven’t even had my braces off a year and a half and my teeth are already crooked again and the glue has broken off my retainer!

I knew I was going to have a positive experience at Graber Orthodontics as soon as I walked in the door and saw a personalized sign welcoming myself and other new patients to the office! The entire staff was very friendly and professional and made a point to introduce themselves no matter how busy they were during my tour of their facility. The office itself is quite impressive with several nice features such as an area to brush your teeth should you have forgotten to beforehand and a game room to keep the kids entertained during your visit. Dr. Katie spent a considerable time with me going over possible treatment plans and together we came up with one that I was very pleased with. Overall, I was blown away by the wonderful experience I had there and would recommend Team Graber to anyone seeking orthodontic care. They are the industry’s best and brightest…

Graber Orthodontics is the place to go for all things Orthodontia. They’ve got it all! Orthodontics is a L-​O-​N-​G process, and you can end up going for years, depending on what’s needed, so it’s really important that you find someone you can trust — well Graber’s is it!
From the moment you walk in the door, you can see that everything is first class. You can check yourself in via the computer on the wall, and then have a seat in the nice, bright, waiting area. Help yourself to some coffee and magazines and hang out.
The doctors themselves are very friendly. We absolutely adore Katie as she’s just SO sweet, and very personable (we usually end up seeing her, so are more familiar with her). The doctors are great at keeping you informed of your status, and what needs to happen next, and when you need to come back and why. They are both VERY well educated and smart. This is key, because knowing that you have a doctor who knows what they’re doing makes you feel comfortable, and like you can trust what they’re doing without question. I have this feeling with these doctors.
They’ve got a wonderful billing lady who sits down with you and goes over your payment options, and how they break out a payment plan if needed, etc. They’re really helpful with figuring out the cost up front so you know what to expect.
The location itself is very nicely appointed and comfortable. They’ve got a cute little game area for kids who have to wait with some type of gaming system (Wii? PS3? Something of the sort). The ladies at the front desk are usually pretty kind and helpful. There”s a little area to clean your teeth if you forgot to before-​hand. There’s also a few private rooms to go into and talk to the doctors. They’ve also got an online «experience» that you can utilize once your’e setup.
I can’t express enough my satisfaction with the Grabers. They’re a father/​daughter team and they know what they’re doing. I highly recommend them. Between their expert use of the most up-​to-​date technology (for both teeth and for administration), and their fabulous bedside manner — I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

After the other guy extracted my teeth, I decided to go for a second opinion. Had I known Mr. Graber previously, I would have gone to him right off the bat. He had x-​rays and pics taken, then sat me down for an hour and had a long talk with me. He and his staff were very professional. He told he had I come to him first, he would have used an expansion method on me instead of extractions. He told me it was possible in my case. His office was just the right size, and the atmosphere was cozy. It didn’t seem like a gymnasium filled with people. State of the art orthodontist.
