Yellow Cab

WTF-​I called for a cab and they hung up on me before I was even done with my address. What kind of business service is that?

Called for a cab in Santa Monica. They quoted 5 minutes for the cab to arrive. Got a call from them an hour later saying my cab was outside. In the meantime I hailed a cab. Ironically it was a Yellow Cab. Talk about a disorganized company!

My mother-​in-​law called Yellow Cab yesterday afternoon to book a 4:30am pick-​up this morning, to get her to the airport. I heard the call, heard them repeat back the information to her. She asked for a confirmation number, but they said her cell phone number or our address would be all she needed as a reference. Come 4:35, no cab, she calls and they say they have no record of the order. Hence I have to wake up and take her to the airport. Thanks for nothing, Yellow Cab.
Three hints for next time: (1) besides reserving a cab the dat before, probably smart to also call 20 minutes before the cab is due. (2) I saw a ton of United Cabs at a local hotel, so I wonder if they would be a better bet for this area (South Venice)? (3) My mother-​in-​law can be a bit abrasive, so be sweet as pie when you call for a cab reservation.
