Been wanting to write this review for weeks. First the refrigerator didn’t cool enough to keep our food from spoiling. Even the freezer items had to be thrown away. The curtains where ripping off the edges. Our sheets had grass stains in the master bedroom so I didn’t trust that the sheets were cleaned. We had to continuously use the emergency start button to get the RV moving. YIKES!

Great customer service, no hassles or hides fees when I returned the RV. Got exactly what I was looking for for my camping trip up north. I priced around and they have very competitive pricing.

Great selection, amazing customer service. First time using LA RV Rentals and I will def be a returning customer. Thank you!

Generator didn’t work, wasn’t able to expand the car but the service was good (takes his phone or comes at you for help with the RV)! Besides his rental is a good price, but be sure you know everything you need to know before leaving!

NOTE: I found this posting on craigslist, so probably best to take positive reviews after this date with a HUGE grain of salt.

Stewart is a crook. Dropped off rv to his assistant sunday called me Monday saying they couldn’t find the rv. Told Me I’m A Person Of Interest. All a ploy to keep my deposit. Stewart and his two hench men are a complete joke. Taking him to small claims court can’t wait to see him in court. Where the judge can see what type of business he runs. Also put $ 200 of gas I thought first 200 miles where free another one of his shady practices.

We rented an RV to take to the Vista steam engine museum for the weekend. They use the name LADISCOUNTRV to rent their equipment.
We picked up the RV and Stewart showed me that it was full of water for our trip, i noticed water coming out of the bottom. I asked him about it and said it was just the overflow, there was no problem. Three hours later when we got to our destination there was no water in the tank at all.
The second issue was the leveling jacks, they did not work which means I had to borrow some wood blocks from some friends to level the RV.
The third issue was the awning, Stewart said there was a brand new awning for our trip. I get down to vista and start setting up in 100 deg and find out that the awning has a broken support arm and cannot be used safely.
The fourth issue was the refrigerator, on our second day out the refrigerator stopped working and we had to store all our food including our babies food in our neighbors refrigerator.
The last issue was the slide out on the motor home was not working properly, it slid out fine but would not retract on its own power and took help from strong friends (I was warned that it may take a little help but this more than a little, this was very significant)
I was offered no compensation except the waiver of the dump fee (which if you remember we had no water so no way to fill grey or black tank)
Summary. They do not take care of their equipment so it has fell into disrepair and should not be rented to the public.

Just want to say «thank you» to Stewart for a great experience of renting RVs! This was our second time renting from LA DISCOUNT RV RENTALS, and we will be back! They have a great selection of rentals, you will find what you need for your adventure! Always clean!!! Thank you for assisting us in making memories with our family!!!

I wish I had better news about this company. I wanted it to be good so badly. I tried and tried again to communicate with them. I even rented from them last year and after being stuck with some surprise extra fees, booked another RV this year. Or at least I thought I did. Then after numerous tries to get in touch with them, all of a sudden it was no longer available. These guys are simply disorganized, terrible communicators and unreliable. They are right near where I live so I wish I could use them more often and even recommend them to you. Unfortunately, I cannot. Prices are good but it’s not worth the headaches, surprises and unreliability.

Our experience mimics all the other postings. It’s worth noting that he is also running this business under a different name.

We picked up our unit — it was filthy. Cleaned the inside ourselves — no heat, no water, no ac, refrigerator off and on. We left our trip early drove back and insisted we get our money back.
Here Stewart put on a bit of a song and dance — saying they are on consignment from the owner, but he couldn’t get the owner on the phone.
We did end up getting some money back, but I am thinking of going after the guy through the BBB and through court.
Also a bit of public shaming may not be bad.

My experience with this company was a nightmare. I am in the process of suing them for a return of all my money since they would not be reasonable with me. All I wanted was my $ 1,000 deposit returned. Do yourself a favor and do not use them. I rented the 40′ diesel for 3 days. The day before picking it up I called Stuart Silver who gave me the exact amount that I needed to bring in. The 3 day rental including the $ 1,000 deposit was supposed to cost me $ 2,180, which I brought in cash. The trip was supposed to last from Friday to Sunday, but since I wanted to leave early Friday morning, I asked Stuart if there would be an additional change to pick it up on Thursday afternoon (the facility closes at 5:30pm). He said that there was no charge. Somewhere along the line, he decided to charge me for 4 days however.
The water in the RV didn’t work (this was the main reason for renting the RV). I spent a couple hours on the phone with Stuart to try to fix the problem without any resolution. After a couple hours, and the tank was drained, I was able to figure out that the manual valves were left open. Once I closed them, and filled up the tank again it worked for the second day.
The battery in the RV was bad, It could not maintain a charge which required the generator to be on all the time we needed lights or whatnot.
Those problems were nothing in comparison to what happened on the way back when the back tires blew out on the freeway. Stuart eventually sent someone out to fix the tires. When the repairman arrived, he mentioned that the tires were extremely old and should been replaced years ago. He said that the other back tires that didn’t blow were also extremely dangerous and that we should make sure to drive slow so those didn’t blow out as well. We sat on the side of the freeway for 5 hours with yelling and crying kids in the RV.
We planned on returning the RV on Sunday evening, however due to the tire blow out that was impossible. When we returned in on Monday, Stuart charged me for an extra day. To be honest, Stuart did waive the clearing fee and mileage fee on account of the tire and water issues, but he was insistent on charging me for 4 days. That was the first time that he told me that I wouldn’t have been able to return it on Sunday anyways since the facility closed at 2:30pm.
I have been pleading with him for weeks to return my deposit, but Stuart just gives me the run around. He tells me that he can’t do anything and that it is all up to Isaiah who never seems to be available.

What a terrible experience renting a RV from this company. The RV was not worth the price, it was all dirty and malfunctioning.
I do not recommend it. If you take the risk of renting something from this man, please don’t make a cash deposit because he’s gonna kept it anyway when you get back from your trip, as he did to us.
Thanks for ruining our 4^th of July trip.

By far the worst experience ever. DO NOT RENT FROM STEWART! You will get ripped off and have to deal with the most unprofessional piece of crap ever.
We rented an RV to go to Coachella Weekend 1 and our RV broke down 3 times. Stewart was only concerned with getting his stupid RV to run again but the FOUR (yes, 4) mechanics that he sent to look at the RV all said it was an old RV that shouldn’t be on the road. We missed all of Friday of Coachella. To make matters worse, instead of compensating us for our troubles, we didn’t receive all of our security deposit back nor did we get the refund amount we were expecting.
We plan to take him to court in the near future and hopefully this Unilocal Review can prevent others from dealing with this so-​called business. If you are reading this Stewart, I hope you know you are a horrible person and that there’s a nice place in hell for you.

Let me start by saying the one star is for Alisha, who was incredibly helpful and friendly during our otherwise terrible RV renting experience.
Moving on…
After going through the ringer about renting an RV for a trip to Big Bear (which was mentioned early in the reservation process), we received a call 2 days before our pick up from the owner of this company stating that our money would be refunded and they would not be able to rent us the RV.
Why? Apparently, a trip to Big Bear is too much of a risk for this shoddy RV rental company and they wanted to back out of the deal. When we reminded them that these kinds of risks are why insurance exists (which was tacked on to the invoice through their company) the owner rudely said that insurance was «IN CASE we damaged the RV and not SO WE CAN damage the RV.» (Terrible argument, sir. Just… TERRIBLE.)
What really got us was the fact that the guy didn’t even suggest a smaller RV or other suggestions to try to work with us and keep our business, especially knowing our trip was only 2 days away. Families take RVs to Big Bear all the time, and let’s not forget that this is the weakest winter we’ve had in quite some time.
Luckily we found another, larger company with newer RVs for slightly cheaper rates and better customer service.

I do not recommend based on my personal experience in August 2013.
Burners beware!
I had made a reservation with this company in April 2013 to travel to playa in August 2013.

So, this is what happened:
I showed up to the lot, the RV was a 1993 Kalahari. Hmmmm. (imagine scary horror movie music in the background)
AND THEN — Once I arrived home to pack it up, the generator began to shoot out blue flames. The owner’s response was for me to go to Home Depot to buy a gas generator which he would pay for; he eventually sent out a mechanic.
AND THEN — One hour into the drive to our vacation spot the RV overheated. I had my three sons and their friends in the RV with no power steering at the top of I-​14 at 8:45 PM. Fortunately, I was able to navigate the RV to a Chevron station where it promptly died. We investigated the engine, there was black splooge everywhere.
AND THEN — I called the owner, no answer. Left voicemail and text. No answer.
AND THEN — I called my auto insurance, they towed me to the nearest trailer service.
AND THEN — Blah, blah, blah, I’m so sick of telling this story. Cut to the sort of interesting part. The owner wanted me to wait until it was fixed to drive it to my vacation! People, that RV was still sitting at the mechanic when I arrived back from vacation! Why? Because it was so old they couldn’t find the parts for it. AND how do I know this piece of useful information? Because the owner told me, after I stalked him like the stealth Soldier I am to obtain my refund. Ha! How do you like me now Mr. Big Shot RV Dealer Man?!
The good news for me is that on November 2 I received the remainder of the deposit I had given the owner BUT only after I had to dispute it with my credit card company.
Please take into your planning consideration my experience as it was the #1 worst business encounter I’ve ever had. Actually, it was a nightmare that I lived through. Run, fast! Save yourselves!

The owner wrote a comment to my feedback. Please do not be fouled by his comments about customer service. My personal experience was awful.
I’m offended by his comments below, as I continue to feel violated by his bad business. He is the worst type of business person.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Incredible shady and unethical business dealing which really deserves negative reviews since it ruined our vacation. Back in August my friend picked up an RV to drive 9 of us for a camping weekend at Bryce and Zion. Firstly my buddy had a bait and switch pulled on him. He was given a different RV than what was shown to him in a picture. This RV looked like it was built in the 60’s and apparently was the only one left in the lot.
When we all got in the next morning, we realized the interior was just as unkempt as the exterior. Cobwebs on the window sill, a chair that fell apart when you sat on it
, broken stereo system (that apparently was «recently» installed), broken TV, broken a/​c, broken stairs that drop down from the door, broken door lock, and parts of the walls were falling apart (no exaggeration on all this).
So we shouldn’t have been surprised that we never made it to Bryce. Some hours later the engine started overheating despite us taking it slow and easy on the road. When we pulled over to the shoulder and opened the hood, a huge plume of smoke came out of the engine. We let it cool, threw water into the radiator, and called the owner Stewart who wanted us to take it to the nearest repair shop. Thank god we were close to a big enough city where we had options. Apparently the radiator and head gasket were busted so this was going to take some time to repair.
Unfortunately all rental cars were unavailable until the next day so we were trapped in Cedar City until the next morning and couldn’t take the cars back to LA. The worst part was not that we had to pay for a hotel and skip Bryce, pay for rental cars to get us to Zion, nor that we got zero apologies from Stewart, but that he wanted us to shop around for him to get the best price! The nerve! Because the first repair shop quoted him too high of a price, he wanted us to take the RV to another shop. As we were stuck in the city anyway, we agreed to do it the next morning.
The next morning we took the piece of s* RV to to Desert Pines RV Repair, where the guys there were appalled that this was a rental. There was a lot of back and forth for hours between the shop owner, Stewart and my friend on deciding what to do. Stewart wanted the shop to replace the radiator with a spare the shop luckily had on hand but to bandaid the head gasket. The repair shop was hesitant in doing so because the RV was in such bad condition, they were sure it will break down on us as we drive it back to LA and didn’t want the liability. And we were very hesitant in getting back into that death trap. Regardless, Stewart got what he wanted.
Anyway we finally picked up our weekend rental cars and went to Zion. On Sunday when we picked up the RV, we decided to take it even easier on the road. 50 miles into the freeway, the engine overheated AGAIN. Oh hell no, this time we were in the middle of nowhere. We decided to backtrack 10 miles to St. George airport where we could try to get one-​way rental cars to drive home and ditch this piece of s* RV. We called Stewart but suddenly he was in Europe (so sketchy) and got an assistant on the phone. The assistant had no idea what to do, so we told him we leaving the RV at the airport and it’s now their problem. Oh yeah, we left the RV in the long term parking:
Unfortunately the airport rental car agencies only had 1 car available for us to take one-​way to LA. Thus we decided to drop off half of us at the nearest bus station (with a ton of camping gear) to take a one-​way shuttle to Las Vegas where they could rent another one-​way car home. Then myself and 3 others took this rental car, crammed with tons of gear, and finally got home at 11 pm.
What’s even more shady is that that night, we had to go back to the RV rental place to pick up my friend’s, who had rented the RV, car at the lot. The «security guard», who apparently lives in a different RV on the same lot, was no where to be seen. We had to search for him around the lot which he popped out behind some cars. He also looked like he was on some sort of drugs. Interestingly, he didn’t even bother asking about the RV we didn’t have on us and just gave us my friend’s car keys. Just to show that this entire business operation is S-​K-​E-​T-​C-​H-​Y. Gawd never again!
The reason why I waited so long to write this rant was because my friend who rented from Stewart had left a $ 1000 cash deposit and wanted to get it back. Not only did we lose this $ 1000 but also all the $$ we spent on multiple rental cars, hotels, and shuttles, which still leaves a horribly bitter taste in my mouth.

Silver RV… Silver is aiming a little high, dog sh*t RV would be more on point. We were conned into buying an RV from this garbage business… and I say business lightly because Stuart and his con-​men make Enron look like UNICEF. The RV broke down several times and it turned out the engine was salvaged from spare parts taken from broken down Model Ts just to patch up a rolling pile of ass trash they call an RV. Don’t ever… EVER. Get an RV from this place, unless you like breaking down in the middle of no where and having to cannibalize your family.

Dealing with Stewart Silver is like being in a truth warp. You will never forget it, and it will cost you. But depending on your interest in having surreal, reality-​distorting experiences, perhaps it is worth it. You be the judge, and please, enjoy the pictures. We paid a lot in $s and sweat for the privilege of taking them!
For those looking for a quick conclusion, renting from Silver RV Rentals was a horror show. This coming from 5 middle-​aged, mechanically savvy guys who could have rented from anywhere (cost not an issue) and just decided it was easier to pick up from Marina Del Rey, because it was local.
OOPS! Do your research!!! We didn’t and it cost us.
So, here’s the deal. We were told we were getting a 2000 class A motor home in good shape with 50K miles. We were explicit in our requirements, which were pretty simple. Good AC, a reliable generator, and a good motor. That’s all we needed, as it was forecast to be 108 degrees at our destination. What we got was this:
–A 23-​year old coach that had seen better days a decade ago. 10 year older than represented.
–No working AC from the dash at all. Ride in heat thank you very much.
–Improperly wired battery system that resulted in a coach that was unstartable for us at our destination + more
–Horrendous upholstery and various interior finishes that were suitable for nobody
–Nonfunctional or semi-​functioning interior and exterior 110 outlets and lights
–Unsafe seats that were not bolted in properly
–Unreliable generator that was fixed with zip ties
–Semi-​functioning awning most unsuited for big heat and sun
–Engine systems dangerously unprepared to deal with high heat and long hill climbs
–Inoperable emergency exit
–Nasty old food under the couch (ancient tortillas)
–AC that could not keep up with the heat (even when the generator was ACTUALLY running)
–No instruction manual for ANY systems
Perhaps you are wondering why we accepted it? Because we relied on his representations that is was a good coach and had no backup when we realized it probably was not. We were stuck.
So how did it all turn out? Badly.
The final crushing blow was that the coach died without warning 4 times in traffic coming up the Grapevine of Highway 5 on the way back to LA. This was after issues with the generator, failed AC, and starting and other systems while we are at our destination.
To be clear, having a coach engine die on the uphill or downhill sections of the Grapevine is really bad news. Dangerous is an understatement as one is trying to get the 29 foot coach to the shoulder with no power steering or brakes. Remember, 4 times.
Thankfully we had mechanically inclined people on board who could help and a good driver. Diagnosis? Inadequate ability to deal with the heat. But really? Who needs this from a vehicle that we rented for comfort. Who needs to be on the shoulder of Highway 5 lying on the ground fixing someone else’s coach in 105 heat with cars and trucks flying by 3 feet away.
After all the horror we did get the coach home. But on the return of the coach, Stewart refused to give us all our money back. He gave us some but not all. No matter that it was dangerous. No matter that the AC did not work. No matter that there were issues with the generator. No matter that our guys were fixing it on the side of the road on Highway 5. No matter that he misrepresented what he rented.
Why did he refuse to give us a full refund? Because Stewart said, «It got you there, didn’t it?» We could have gotten there in our own cars and pitched a big tent. And that would have been better, and safe and less headache. And we would not have spent hundreds of dollars on the coach, AND burned an additional $ 170 worth of gas for the pleasure of sitting in heat for literally hour upon hour, waiting for roadside assistance, and working on the coach ourselves.
So the take away here is don’t rent from this operation. It may be that they have some good coaches. But they have some really bad ones that are unsafe as hell and not what they say they are, and they are willing to rent those to you.
Stay safe. Be happy. Be cool. Keep more of your money. Avoid jump starts. Rent elsewhere.
