Tried to a book a cleaning with this office and the receptionist said with a deep annoyed sigh, «we don’t have room unless you want to wait a couple of months.»
Didn’t offer to put me on a waiting list. Brushed me off. Wasn’t very helpful.
No room for new patients it seems, which I understand, but I’ve never felt so unwanted from a dentist before. Talk about role reversal!

They are the best. Dr. Khoe is very gentle and super good at his job. He’s done everything for me over the years, including fixing a chipped tooth, filling cavities, and taking out old fillings (done when I was a kid). Perfect results each time. Linda (dental hygienist) has undoubtedly saved me from a few cavities with her excellent advice. (I still have my wisdom teeth, so she gave me a tiny toothbrush that can reach way back there for better brushing, plus a «gum stimulator» to get at the plaque in the back. Genius!) Everyone is very intelligent, skillful, and thoughtful – even the front desk person, who calls to remind me of appointments and helps me book my next cleaning before I leave the office.

I highly recommend Dr. Khoe. He is one of the kindest dentists I’ve ever met. He is top notch!

Dr. Khoe is one of the very best — gentle, kind, patient and incredibly thorough. For anyone who has any fear or anxiety of dentists — Dr. Khoe is the one for you.
However, my last cleaning was with another dental hygienist at his office, and I have never been in so much pain. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and consider myself someone that has had ZERO anxiety over dental visits as a result — yet in over 30 years of dental care, this was truly my FIRST bad experience. Keep in mind, I have a long history of cavities and fillings (weak enamel I’m told), I’ve had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed in one sitting, I’ve had 2 root canals, and had braces for about 4 years as a kid. I am a Dental Queen. It’s not that I’ve never encountered pain or discomfort during any of my impressive history — that would be impossible — but everything was always handled by both a gentle dentist and supporting staff, who would check in consistently through any given procedure to see how things were on my end and make adjustments as necessary.
This hygienist was everything Dr. Khoe and my previous dentists were not — aggressive and unsympathetic to any voiced pains during her bloody massacre of a cleaning. I left upset but I still scheduled a follow up with the thought that I’d be seeing Dr. Khoe for the next exam and this was just a one time substitution.
The day of the follow-​up appointment, I called to check who would be doing my cleaning and I let the receptionist know that if it was with who I had seen previously, I’d like to re-​schedule with someone else. Given I called the same afternoon as my scheduled appointment, instead of showing any concern that I was unhappy and that I found the hygienist to be so aggressive and painful in her techniques — the receptionist instead launched into telling me over and over how I should have called before within the 24 hours prior to my appointment, and that they would need to charge me a late fee since they would still have to pay the hygienist for the appointment. I did not express any concern about paying the cancellation fee, but more importantly that I wasn’t happy with the hygienist and her technique — which I would have thought would be a much more important note to consider. The receptionist however showed no concern or acknowledgement of my previous experience, and continued to go on about how they could only put me on a long cancellation list and that new appointments weren’t being taken for another 5 months and if I had just called earlier … Again, despite the fact that I did not have or voice any concern with paying the $ 40 dollar cancellation fee or even the length of time I’d have to wait for the next available appt — this really seemed to be HER main concern as she decided to continue to lecture me about how I had 6 months to have called and how I should have called prior to. and how the hygienist would still need to be paid even if I didn’t show up. and on. and on. and on.
While I appreciate her efforts in sharing their point of view on cancellation fees and why they are a must — I did not need to know in detail the inner workings of the office and who had to be paid what. totally inappropriate. And while I agree I could have called earlier, I never asked them to take responsibility for my cancellation fee or demand another appt by an unrealistic date. I was looking for a simple acknowledgement of concern over my previous experience and their next available appointment — easy enough. If she had simply stated that I would still have to unfortunately pay the fee but that she was truly sorry to hear that I was so upset over the last appt & they would make efforts to bring me in at their earliest ability with another hygienist, this would have been enough and would have shown me her concern for the office’s patients and her efforts to be empathetic with them if they were unhappy. I did not expect her to fix my problem, but I also did not expect her to immediately blame me for not dealing with the unhappiness better. I told her once more, the cancellation fee was not an issue, but that given our interactions, I would be taking my business elsewhere. Outside of uttering a «I’m sorry to hear that», she did nothing to try to alleviate my concerns or assuage me to stay — and that was that. We hung up and Dr. Khoe lost a once perfectly happy patient who had recommended him to other friends with aplomb.
I am so sorry to have to give this review because Dr. Khoe is lovely and wonderful and I would recommend him with 5 stars all around. But combined with having on staff an overly aggressive and unsympathetic hygienist and a receptionist who shows little grace or interest in handling client concerns — I would prefer to find another dentist, where I can trust both him/​her as well as the staff employed to handle my cavity-​ridden future with a competent and efficient albeit soft touch.

Dr Khoe, Denise and Hope are all the best. They take great care of me and alleviate all my Dental anxiety! Great place, if you can get this dentist, you should, but he’s in high demand and usually doesn’t accept new clients.

John Khoe is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. He took extremely well care of me. I hadn’t been to the dentist in 4 years prior to my visit. I was in bad shape. I left feeling great about myself. This really is as good as it gets. Cheers to John Khoe and the entire team!

His perfect 5 star rating isn’t a joke… This guy REALLY is the most amazing dentist!!!
Dr. Khoe has been my dentist since the 90’s — I have never dared to stray away from him because he’s the most gentle, kind, and honest dentist in Los Angeles. While his modest office may not be rigged with flat screen TV’s blasting Kardashian’s or any other high tech fluff to distract you… you don’t need distracting because he is so gentle it’s almost a meditative experience! His staff is so friendly and always remembers little personal details which shows you you’re not just another number in their books, you’re practically family — I hope you’re lucky enough to get in while they’re taking new patients, because Dr. Khoe and his staff are the greatest.

Very good dentist and honest. He doesn’t rip you off like the other dentists I’ve listed in the past.

I lucked out and got into this office about a year ago when they happened to be taking new clients, something that doesn’t seem to happen very often.
Everyone, I mean, everyone in this practice is awesome! Dr Khoe himself, is the best dentist I’ve ever been to and would recommend him to everyone. If you can get in, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I’m leaving the country for about a year and half, I’m hoping they have room for me when I get back!

I’ve been going to dr. Khoe since 1999 n he’s always took a good care of me n my family tree. His professionalism will meet all your dental care & needs. The office is nicely located by the beach too. Highly recommended.

I love the entire team at Dr. Khoe’s office! BTW this review is coming from a girl who is VERY hesitant when it comes to the dentist.
First off, the hygienist is like a parental figure. She is super friendly, but she will let you know directly what sort of things in your mouth are a disappointment («I’m noticing much more plaque near your gum line than I would like to see»). I feel so guilty! But she is so right.
Second, the receptionist (this is probably not the correct term) is awesome. She will really work to fit appointments with your schedule. She also remembers almost everything about all of the patients that come in. It really is remarkable.
And finally, good ol’ Dr. Khoe. I had a filling replaced today (nothing serious, it was just getting old). Dr. Khoe is THE ONLY dentist I have ever had that can make that Novocaine shot painless. I mean painless! He is very gentle and also very good at explaining the entire procedure. Such an awesome guy.

Dr. Khoe was the first dentist listed on my health provider list at my new job. I noticed it was just a few blocks away from my home so I looked them up for reviews and was surprised to see it had 5 stars.
That very moment, I gave them a call for an appointment and this was the hardest part of the whole process because I was not able to get through but left a message and Denise returned my call and help me set-​up for an appointment. She made it clear that they were fully booked for a solid month and a half but I decided to take the soonest available date.
My first visit was very pleasant; friendly and welcoming environment. I arrived on-​time, filled out the paperwork and did not have to wait more than 8 minutes. Every other appointment was this same way.
Their office is rather small but they have excellent customer service and know how to make the patients feel at ease.
Dr. Khoe is very gentle, careful, and helpful if there are any questions. He also manages his time in such a manner that there is not much waiting around to see him. His assistant is a very young girl who might be in training but they are still very professional.
I would definitely recommend this dentist; once you manage to get an appointment you will not be disappointed with their services. My health insurance covered most of my charges but even without insurance their prices are rather affordable.
They are open a few Saturdays per month but closed on Fridays.

I have been going to Dr., Khoe since he took over the existing practice in 1991. He is the kindest, gentlest, and most thorough dentist I have ever had, and will be the only dentist I ever have. I have referred so many people to him that i have forgotten them and they still thank me years later. Denise, his office manager, receptionist and gal Friday is lovely and smart and helpful. Their prices are actually more than reasonable. If you can get an appointment, you will be very, very happy with Dr. Khoe.

Both the hygenist and the doctor were very thorough. Dr. Khoe explained everything he was looking for during the exam. He even checked for cancer on my tongue and throat. Probably the most complete exam I’ve ever had.
