The Home Depot

Preface: Home Depot employees are lovely people. NEVER TAKE STORE CREDIT unless absolutely necessary and then don’t buy anything with it you hope to return. Use it for toilet paper.
Some Context:
My wife and I are new homeowners. We have made frequent trips to Home Depot for our home owning needs. The in store staff has always been professional, pleasant and informative which is why I hope to amend this one star review.
There is however a problem. In the course of our frequent trips my wife and I have had to make returns for items that were the wrong color or didn’t fit or, on rare occasion, didn’t work. We always had a receipt. In fact I still have all the receipts. We were advised by the lovely people in the returns section that if we were just going to exchange it for a similar item or were going to shop then and there a store credit would be easiest. We agreed. Sadly, this has proven to be shortsighted advise. We now may not return ANYTHING to Home Depot.
You see if you receive store credit and then pay for something on said store credit it essentially puts you on a watch list. I’m obviously using layman’s terminology but that is what happens. Should you use store credit enough they lock you out of refunding products. I completely understand this. It prevents people from maliciously taking advantage of their otherwise generous return policy.
So here I am with my most recent purchase of $ 265.00, $ 9.00 of which I used an old store credit on. 2 hours later I try to make a return. One item, which is unopened and unused is not the right color in the mind of my eagle eyed wife. So, I reasonably request a refund with a receipt. Before we move forward let us review some irrefutable statistical data. I made a purchase. 97% of that purchase was made on a credit card. 3% was made on store credit. They not only denied that return, Im not allowed to return anything for 90 days. Again, this bares repeating — I am not allowed to return any item because I used 3% store credit which coincidentally could not cover the least expensive item on that receipt.
I, again, appreciate the policy. I do not appreciate the execution of this policy is completely devoid of context. Moreover had I known that getting store credit was an issue I would NEVER have taken it in spite of the recommendation from the folks at the return counter — whom I recent discovered are ‘New.‘
I should point out that after hearing my reasonable position a wonderful person in the store tried to get me a refund but «the system» would not allow her to do it. The most troubling issue is that a company which employees, by all accounts, great human beings has become so captivated by a computer system that they can not do a reasonable thing.
I am currently waiting for someone from corporate to take my appeal on this matter having already been denied twice in spite of my offer to give them a copy of every receipt and pay for the 9 $ store credit. So I am currently stuck with an unopened deadbolt lock.
You should also understand that Home Depot has virtually zero competition in the area. So take this review for what it is — a public service announcement which, like every Malcolm Gladwell book, is fully understood after reading the preface.

The store is very well stocked but the special order person was so rude and didn’t wanted to answer my questions he just ignore us while we wait for him to place an order for remodeling 3 bathrooms. Sad to say I walk out without pleasing an order with Home Depot. For the price range I will find another store to spend my money.

An employee who’s name was Paul was very helpful. Stopped what he was doing, to help me find the item I was looking for. Thanks again.

This is probably my 6^th time at this Home Depot since working in this area. Is it big? Yes it’s enormous, there is a lot of cool stuff you won’t always find at regular Home Depots. The tool corral in this place can have your credit cards maxed out in seconds with all there is in it.
Now for the bad. It’s huge. You can where yourself out looking for things if you can’t find someone who knows what there talking about. Also don’t expect help loading anything. This morning while waiting for a cashier to wonder off with our bonding wire for some unknown reason leaving is standing there with conduit for 10 min. I watched the «pro loader» stand at the door and talk to the security guy the whole time just watching ppl with lumber and a guy with a cart of dry wall walk by and load it him self while he watched from the door way as a stranger offered to help. Some pro! I took off 2 stars because of that clown.

This is without a doubt the nicest Home Depot In have ever been in. Forget the enormous selection. It has a Dunkin Donuts in the store. So if you’re shopping and you want a coffee or a donut, it’s there in the store. Yes, the selection is fantastic. It’s also clearly marked. There are huge signs that say plumbing or electric. So less getting lost even though it’s huge. There are also lots of maps on the aisles to get to the right aisle or section.

How long do you expect it would take to install a carpet in one room of your home?
If you said 24 – 48 hours, I would say you’re a reasonable person. In this day and age of innovation, where Amazon can deliver your order within an hour, Casper can deliver a mattress in a day and Seamless can get you every meal throughout your day if you so desire, Home Depot’s business model seems ripe for «disruption.» (Yes, I hate that word, too, but it’s apt here.)
My «expedited» carpet order — of a selection that was in stock, mind you — cost me an extra $ 75 and ended up being scheduled for almost two weeks later.
What?
Not once did anyone ask when I needed it, nor when I should expect it. I had trusted my previous positive experiences with the big-​box retailer with the idea that it would get done within the two weeks before my in-​laws arrived following the birth of our new baby, and after we moved to a new home.
Never mind that calling to inquire about carpet installation was a Kafakaesque exercise in hang-​ups, Musak and transfers — not to mention that no one could find my order by my phone number and my order number was never provided to me, yet I had to embark upon the whole rigamarole each and every time.
The employees were perfectly polite, but the process is just plain broken and not something I would ever — EVER — recommend to anyone else. On the plus side, there is a Dunkin’ Donuts in this Home Depot. So that’s something.
Get your carpet elsewhere.

I like this location cause they have everything that the other Home Depot don’t have. It’s huge, they have kitchen and bathroom show floors. You can see what your kitchen or bathroom would look like. They also have more choices of the same item compared to the other stores. And if your hungry they have a dunk in donuts inside so you can get your Saturday morning coffee.

We started frequenting this Home Depot in May 2014 when we decided that we were going to completely renovate our house from top to bottom. And it has become our home.
Aside from it being the biggest Home Depot in country (actual fact, not my personal opinion); the set up and presentation of the products are done in a way that you can visualize it in your own house!
Okay, the staff is not always the best. Sometimes we go in and there is someone nearby that is knowledgable and awesome. Sometimes we are walking around for five or six minutes before we can find anybody, and then when we do, that person can’t tell a copper pipe from a pvc. Struggles.
But aside from a ‘sometimey’ staff; they always have everything we need. We have perused other Home Depots and more often than not they are lacking the exact product that we are looking for. So we always end up at this Home Depot on Springfield Ave.

It’s a Home Depot — NO, it’s a SUPER Home Depot. Wow! Not quite the offerings of the now long closed Expo design centers but still a lot better than your average Home Depot experience — by probably DOUBLE.
Unless you are looking for something standard that you know is going to be at your local location this store is actually worth traveling some distance to get to instead.

This review is for the braided water lines that connect to the water valve under the sink to the faucet… I bought 2 – 12 inch lines… forgot an item after I left and ended up passing a plumbing supply house… went in for the part I needed and asked the guy how much for a 12 inch lines tells me 1.80 cents for braided line. home depot was almost 8.00 and change… Ripppppp offff home depot… even there bags of salt for the snow go to landscaping place 6.50 for 50lb bag. depot is like 11.00 for 20lb or something retarded like that. I’m sticking with Lowe’s… This review isn’t specifically for this store. The corp makes the prices

Huge HD super store. Extremely clean, organized, easy to navigate, attentive and amicable staff… definitely the best HD I’ve ever been too. All of the others were good. This one is superb. Plenty of salt for the crazy winter this year as well.

This is the best HomeDepot in a 15mile radius. That’s because this is a SUPER HOME DEPOT. No lie — that’s what it says on the face of building. This factory is massive. Its larger than a standard Home Depot so you have Many MANY more options and available stock than other smaller home depots. Yep this is the Poppa Of the Home Depots.
This place is always clean and boisterous. Staff is knowledgeable. You can see upon entering they have an upscale product line in this particular site which is clearly due to its close proximity to Maplewood and Livingston (Wealthy, Upper class neighborhoods).

This Home Depot is beyond awesome. Aside from having a Dunkin Donuts and the smell of freshly popped popcorn wafting through as you enter their doors, this is the only location I have visited which has staff who will approach you and actually help. You can get wood and blinds cut to order quickly and their garden center is great. Check out is surprisingly quick.

Coffee and Munchkins aside, I really like this Home Depot. It carries all of the major brands of appliances and some of the best models available. For example, they carry the Samsung T9000 for a little over $ 3300, which has a triple cooling system AND a convertible freezer (it can be turned into extra fridge space). The washer and dryer section has a lot of the standard and slightly upgraded models, while also offering some high tech alternatives — the red GE Adora and Samsung washers with glass covers are nice!
It was a bit sudden but I ended up buying my washer and dryer (plus new cords for $ 15), fridge, and a few cleaning supplies during this trip; it comes with free delivery, installation, and removal of your old appliances — also free. The staff here is really helpful, especially the older gentleman in charge of the washer and dryer section. They were friendly and hooked me up with a great deal on everything I bought.
If you enter on the far right side of Home Depot (near the Home Décor store), you’ll hit the tool rental area. I was in search of a carpet steamer to borrow for a few hours, but I decided to go with a regular heated carpet cleaner for 24 hours ($ 29) instead. Larry was really helpful and was willing to go through the directions of how to operate the machine. Ask for Larry if you need to rent anything — nice guy. There’s a $ 50 deposit to use the rentals.
Once I settle down in my new house, I’ll probably be back for landscaping equipment and decorations. They have a great selection in their garden area, including the small lucky bamboo plants and numerous fruit trees that I’ll be needing.
The parking lot is massive, so no need to fret about the place running out of spaces. I didn’t check the prices too much but appliances seem to be a few hundred dollars cheaper than what I’m used to seeing.

Don’t hold me to this, but I think this one may be the largest store in the US? I’m renovating my kitchen and bathroom and as a first time homeowner, this is new to me. This place has it all and a huge selection of everything. It’s bright, clean, well laid out and a ton of staff on hand (who actually really weren’t around to help, but more for just walking around, but whatever, I could have been more proactive with questions).
Just due to its pure size I recommend checking it out just for the fact that your options open up, which hey, options are always a good thing!

Huge garden section. Tons of stock. They always have whatever tools and basic home stuff we need. Always greeted instantly upon walking in. It’s loud and annoying, but that comes with the territory (beeping forklifts, screaming kids, zombielike shoppers in dazes, rumbling cart wheels, blasting Blues Traveller). The only problem I’ve had is buying some garden stuff and the price stickers had fallen off. Cashier had to walk aLL THE WAY THRU the whole store (about 10 mins or more) because there was no way to pick up the phone for a price check to the garden center, or to look it up in the computer/​register. Really, Home Depot?

This by far the best Home Depot ever. I believe it’s the biggest in NJ and they even have a Dunkin Donuts inside for all of your coolatta needs. Arnold Palmer, what?!

The staff is pleasant and you can always find someone to help you which is a rarity in other HD’s i’ve been to.
My only gripe is the paint section. The couple of times i’ve gone there I was either ignored or waited forever for someone to help me at the desk. The guy that’s been there both times is incredibly slow moving. But hey, thats life.

This is a super Home Depot so they have a huge garden area. Came here to stock up on our garden supply for the season.
The sales people outside sometimes are a bit clueless but they are nice enough to point you to the expert sales people.
They need to be a little bit more organized on the sales items. I don’t think the register know all of the specials so we ended up needing to go to customer service for price adjustments which could be a hassle especially when there were so many people.

How do you describe massive!!! Was told that size matters… well it’s true here. Was told only two of this size in US. Other in California. The size if three football fields and staff everywhere. I have been at many box stores but I am impress. And better a Dunkin Donuts in the store. Give me a mattress section and TV and could live here. Wish I lived closer. But the trip might be worth it

This Home Depot is giant. It has everything you could ever possibly need. The workers are nice, too — if you need any help, they’re right there to point you in the right direction. They also keep enough registers open so that, even though there are always tons of people in the store, you don’t have to wait in a long line to checkout.
The only issue I have with this store is it seems like they have a poor returns department. The line is always going out the door for returns and it seems like a very frustrating experience.
