History

Established in 2004.

Late in 2004 Russell, who had been baking in various locations in the Portland /​Vancouver area for years, finished building a wood-​fired brick oven in his garage, and started baking hearth breads. The following year Russell finished converting the garage into a fully health-​certified commercial bakery, and began sell his breads and small sweet hand items at Portland’s Hollywood Farmers Market. Roll forward to 2011 and the new addition to Russell’s Breads market offerings are made-​to-​order pizzas baked in the wood-​fired oven we bring to the markets on a trailer. Currently Russell’s Breads is involved in several Portland and Vancouver farmers markets (Vancouver and Salmon Creek Markets on the WA side, St Johns and Moreland on the OR side), but since there is only one pizza oven, we are not able to have the pizza at all of these markets. For craft-​baked hand-​made hearth breads and baked goods, with all the variation and creativity that goes along with this, stop by one of our markets!
