Great location for gently used clothing. Everything is clean and organized and even my old self found something cute!

Quick stop for thrift shopping. Decent selection. Shirts for $ 2 and $ 4?! Yes please. Staff is great and very helpful. Great customer service! If I wasn’t from out of town I would definitely come back!

I never want to sell here again. They gave me $ 2.80 for a pair of $ 40 Bullhead shorts that don’t look even look worn. The clothes they do sell there are even kinda worn out and priced high for the quality. I don’t know if it’s just this location or all Platos Closets, but it’s always disappointing.

The things they sell here are worn, dated and gross. Yet when I try to sell them designer brands that are very gently used and look 100x better than what they selling, they don’t take anything. I’m not someone who needs the money, but when I bring exactly the stuff they are trying to find, they don’t take it. Yet they have some of dingiest stuff. Wont be back.

A cute store to buy used clothes but definitely not to sell! I just went there to sell my not so old and worn clothes. I had a full bag to sell and they didn’t buy anything. The clothes was still even fold the way I did. I feel like they just see if its branded or not. If its not they wont buy it even though its still okay. And if its branded they dont care even the style is not so okay.

I love shopping here! I always visit this location whenever I’m in town and I’m never disappointed. The prices are amazing compared to other resale places like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads and I always find great stuff! The staff is awesome and so welcoming whenever I come in. Selling here is great too. They give 30% of what they sell it for and you also get 10% when you sell and do a trade! I highly recommend stopping in here before heading to the mall :)

don’t ever bother trying to sell here. Brought in a ton of recently purchased men’s and women’s from places like forever 21 and rvca, and they took nothing saying it was dated or had small stains. (Which they had NO stains to speak of) Buffalo Exchange took everything and paid much better! Will only ever be going to Buffalo Exchange from now on.

I come in here alllll the time! I love it here! I’ve shopped here and I’ve sold here as well. Most of my clothing is from here actually… haha. Not to mention their dollar days are great! I’ve gotten an adidas and Nike shirt for only a dollar from their last dollar day. Inexpensive clothing, but they are all name or mall brands. They have every clothing item you could want! Shop here if you like thrifting… but with style!

Great selection of quality clothing and name brand merchandise. Why pay full price when you can enjoy finding some great deals and a new look?

If I could could give this place ⁰⁄₅ stars I would! Waited close to two hours for one bag of clothes and they said everything was too worn! Considering that my clothes were in WAY better condition than all the clothes they were selling, I was very mad! Terrible customer service! Don’t waste your time here. I will NEVER be coming back to this colossal type wasting business.

This store frequently has clothes that are tearing, stained and have merchandise that looks like it is six years old and disgusting. I have known multiple people that have tried to sell clothes that they wore a couple times and are in fantastic condition as well as designer purses and wallets that get rejected. While this store carried merchandise that looks like it was found in the dumpster. Every time we walk into the store the quality is going down. Would not recommend.

if you’re selling, it always takes double the time they say it will to go through your clothes, and half the time the employees seem rude. today I waited around for an hour and a half and it was not worth it. while I was waiting around they had time to post on instagram but not check through my one bag of clothes? wasted half my day here.

Plato’s Closet is an okay business. I’ve been a buyer and seller, and both experiences have been so so. From a buyer’s perspective, make sure you evaluate each item carefully before purchasing. I had purchased a button up top from them in April, and immediately after purchasing it I noticed a button was missing. Upon trying to return the item, they told me they couldn’t do anything for me. It was really disappointing because they say they hold themselves to such high standards.
From a seller’s perspective, be prepared to drop off clothes and return hours later. Usually it takes them from 45 minutes to an hour and a half to look through your items and decide what to purchase from you. They don’t always offer a fair price for your items, so make sure you don’t sell any high value items to them. Anything worth over $ 50, sell on OfferUp or Craigslist.

This was the best experience I’ve had at a Platos Closet. The staff was really friendly, and did not seem as distracted as some people mentioned before.
Honestly most stores always take the least cute items from my consignment bag and want to give me pennies for anything decent. They hardly have anything good on their racks either. But this was not the case at this location. They gave me a really fair price for a pair of jeans and a button up shirt, and I was actually able to find a few cute tops for myself, which is rare. I think Plato’s closet way of business still needs some work, but this location is getting better at it.

This is a decent consignment shop for teenagers. It’s fine to shop, but use caution if you want to drop off items for consignment. You will be held prisoner for at least 45min to an hour without having anyone in line before you. We were told 20 min. to judge one medium bag of clothing. Fifty minutes, we’re still waiting and oddly enough, watching the cashiers goof off behind the counter, shop for each other and play with the items we brought. You can not drop off and come back the next day. It needs to be the same day. Plan a morning drop off and evening check in.
Moreover, the staff is not polite or helpful. They spend a good amount of time on the phone and playing around. After 45 minutes of waiting, they then informed us that our clothes were stolen. Seriously.
So, good place to pick up a deal. Let other people suffer through the consignment process. Spare yourself.

I go here all the time and almost always find something cute for me or my husband. Prices are great. Selection is great for women. Men not so much.

I visited this location today and was really upset with my experience. These other low ratings I see are definitely justified. The staff member I worked with was snotty, selection of clothes for sale was cheap and widely in poor condition (multiple items I browsed were actually stained,) and yet the staff has an elitist attitude like they are running a chic Portland boutique.
I’ve sold here once before about a year ago and had around 75% of my items taken. (My experience with staff was much better too.) Although today, the girl working with me only took one shirt out of two full bags of clothing. I brought in about 6 pairs of nearly to never worn name brand jeans (American Eagle, BP Nordstrom, etc.,) many plain layering T’s and tanks, summer dresses, skirts, and more (seeing as I have recently lost weight.) The staff member who helped me actually acted put off by the fact that my items were not things that are on trend right this very second and being currently sold in stores; she commended that my items were «in good condition but too dated.» My understanding has always been that Plato’s is a second-​hand store and sellers are bringing in items from 6 months to a year or two old, when they’re changing out their wardrobes. If people want cheap, current trend items they go to stores like H&M and Forever 21. The only shirt that they took was a grey t-​shirt from Target that was probably around 3 years old — which makes no sense with her ‘dated’ comment. I was also irritated that she threw my clothes back in the bags instead of folding them back up as they were.
Rant aside, I would recommend taking your clothes elsewhere or even selling online.

I’m surprised that this Platos has so many 1 stars, probably from inexperienced first time sellers that gave up after the first visit. So, because of this fact (and being a seller at various Platos locations for a few years) i’ll give a fair review.
When I first sold my clothes at this location, the staff were friendly enough and welcomed me as I walked into the door. They took my clothes, gave me an estimated time, which I expected, and got to work. The employees were young, probably in high school and college, and got distracted with chatter (who doesn’t when you’re around clothes?) but i’ve found this to be pretty normal. My two favorite employees that work there that are the friendliest have been a girl with lighter hair and a great smile and a younger guy who is really casual and has plugs.
This locations selection isn’t too bad, depending on your style. If you’re looking for more of a preppy, feminine style, they have a lot of lace and florals to choose from. If you’re looking for more hipster kinds of fashion, go to Portland or Olympia. Lots of jeans, which surprised me for a Platos location. And the mens section was a lot bigger than I had seen before, with sections for jackets, jeans, and casual shirts.
When they gave me my items back, I was impressed with how they selected fashions out. They were pretty knowledgeable about what was fashionable or not within the last 12 months, and gave back anything that probably wouldn’t sell or had wear/​stains that I missed. (Oops. My bad.) The amount they gave back was fair for what the clothes were, which were mainly older shirts and jeans that I didn’t want anymore. Overall, it was a pretty successful venture and i’m pleased with how the store is.
The reason i’m giving this review 3 stars is the following:
The pricing is a little expensive and i’ve found a few shirts with stains/​rips on them that the employees didn’t notice.
The stock is also a little lackluster — there isn’t much variety unless you’re really into feminine fashion, which is disappointing because I’m usually a big mix. Also, there isn’t much selection when it comes to bigger sizes and the large/​xlarge shirts are pretty small in number.
The dressing room has a six item limit, which I understand because sometimes people pick out a lot to try on, but this has been the only Platos location i’ve been to thats had that small of a limit.

Can’t think of a worse place to shop. The racks are filled with worn out and damaged clothing, yet the prices are the same as you find at Ross. Nothing wrong with secondhand clothing, but I expect to get it cheaper than new. There are some new items at Plato’s Closet, but they are priced even more ridiculously, as if you are shopping at Macy’s.
Worse than the condition of their items are the teenage employees’ attitudes. If you’re old enough to be done with school, expect to be treated like a grandmother in their store. It’s happened to me and to my best friend, and we’re both in our 20’s. You might expect a condescending attitude in an upscale boutique where the employees are impeccably groomed and champagne is offered, but we’re talking about a secondhand shop with kids in shorts behind the counter, so let’s be real.
As another reviewer mentioned, selling clothing here is a complete joke. I’ve taken in top name brands and been told the clothes were out of style, yet seen almost identical items on their racks for sale. I have a feeling it goes back to their prejudice against anyone enough to drink: if you’re «old,» you must be bringing in old clothing.
My best friend brought her clothing in to sell and had a similar experience, except there is some question as to whether or not they took a few of her items and did not pay her for them. A trip into the store a week or so later, she spotted some of the unique pieces she had on their racks, but those items weren’t on the list of things they bought from her. By that point, the bag of stuff they didn’t buy was gone (given away or donated), so no way to be sure, but after all the other problems with this store, I would recommend having a list of the items you brought in and checking carefully before selling them anything.
