Dr. J.

Business Owner

Dr. Jankowski discovered the west coast upon leaving the Army after 7 years active duty in 1979. He headed north to study, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984. From there, he dusted off his old Army uniform and packed his bags for military assignment to the 34th General Hospital in Augsburg, Germany. He assumed duties there as Assistant Chief of Optometry within the Department of Surgery. After fulfilling his military obligation, he left active duty, and decided to make Vancouver his home. Other than being shipped overseas when his Reserve Hospital unit was activated for Desert Storm in 1990, «Dr. J» prefers the smaller, friendlier family practice in the local community.

Dr. Jankowski has four children — twins plus two. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1999 and served as the last Commander of the 7206th Medical Support Unit out at Vancouver Barracks. Dr. J has served as past president of the Southwest Society of the Optometric Physicians of Washington.
