I have never been so disappointed and unsatisfied with an auto repair shop as I did this one. My fiancé and I dropped off our 98 Range Rover to get a front end inspection to figure out why it’s shaking when we go over 50. Let’s just say a month goes by with me calling once a week to get news about it because they have failed to contact me every time. When they answered they talked about fixing the door and how they can’t find parts. I never once heard anything about the front end problem (the reason we brought it there) and when I asked about it everyone was always at lunch. So, two days ago I got a call from them for the very first time saying they don’t specialize in range rovers and that they can’t fix the door due to not being able to track down the parts. I never once had any feed back on the problem we brought it there for. Don’t say you specialize in all the range rovers on your website and then tell me you don’t on the phone and then recommend a different place. I have better luck going to my family friend who doesn’t «specialize» and get an estimate and reason behind everything that’s going wrong with the front end than johns foreign care services. I’m just so upset and feel like I wasted my time with them. I have been needing my car for work and I brought it to them in hopes to solve it so I can work on it but nothing. The last thing I’m going to say is when I received my Range Rover back February 12,2016 the door panel was off, the car was dead, they broke my middle console, water was all inside of it and there was mold inside my car. I am so upset needless to say.

John will give you an estimate and then tell you any price he wants after the job is done. It’s classic bait and switch. He won’t call for authorization– He will just tell you OH it took more time that will be $ 100 or $ 200 more.
If you don’t tie him to a fixed price estimate or complain — YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF
Also, he doesn’t have good relations with many dealers who provide parts like Audi and BMW SO, he will use cheaper pats that you can get at auto supply instead of Factory authorized parts

I recently moved from the east coast, and I am looking for an honest mechanic out here. I took my car into John’s and he was completely honest and up front with me and confirmed everything that I thought was wrong with the car, and the price he quoted me for the work was very reasonable.
As far as I can tell if I need a mechanic I will bring my car to them again.
The only thing negative I can say is they are slow to communicate with you, but it seems like they do a thorough good job for a reasonable price.

I took my car to johns to have my fuel gauge repaired/​replaced. He quoted me a price and scheduled a repair date. I received my car back with a working fuel gauge the next day! However I noticed at the time that the odometer had different numbers on it than when I had dropped it off. I figured he had just replaced the entire speedometer assembly. It wasn’t till about a week later I noticed the odometer hadn’t changed. I brought my beetle back to john today to see what was up. He told me that his employee had only replaced the fuel gauge not the entire speedometer. He then told me that the gear inside the odometer had probably worn out and showed me what the new part looked like. I asked how to replace it and he offered to show me how using a spare speedometer assembly he had in the back. He then disassembled the spare speedo and showed me where this gear goes. He quoted me 15 $ for the assembly he had in his hand and assured me that it was something I could handle on my own. I couldn’t help but notice however how the numbers on the odometer he had in his hand matched the numbers of my odometer before I had brought it in the first place. I produced the work order and receipt he gave me upon completion that had the identical odometer readings as the one he was holding in his hands! He then again said «No, my employee only replaced your fuel gauge, this is not your old one». The facts seemed to prove otherwise and I believe he knew this as well so he said he would give me the entire assembly for free «because that’s the kind of guy I am» he said… This guy tried to sell me a part that he had taken off my car and kept. When called out he attempted to fix it by giving it back to me, and left me to install it myself! That’s the whole reason I brought it to his shop in the first place cause I didn’t want to do that!!! I wasted $ 95 of labor on this guy!

I was charged way too much, my car didn’t get fixed, and the owner john was arrogant and rude. He didn’t want to hear any history on why my car was running poorly. He didn’t feel the need to explain to me what he did, or what was wrong, but that didn’t stop them from charging me a bunch of money even though my car wasn’t repaired at all. Overall this was probably the worst experience I’ve had with any repair shop.

Pros: they do what they say they will, and if something is messed up, they make good on it, no questions asked. They’re also reasonably priced, which is nice, and they work on the Subaru Justy!
Cons: sometimes slow on communication, hours are somewhat limited, and they are located a ways out.
When my transmission went out on a car I’d owned for less than three months, I took it to the mechanic that had worked on my previous car. After sitting in their shop for a week, they called and said they couldn’t do the job. So after doing my homework, I had it towed — again — to John’s Foreign Car Service. It took them about a week and a half to do it, but they did get the job done, and for a reasonable price. I’ve since taken my car back a few times for routine maintenance and found them to provide good service.

My humble opinion is that you should ignore the two subliterate reviews below. I took my Subaru Forester in to a local shop because the A/​C wasn’t working. They charged me $ 100 to diagnose and wanted $ 900 to fix it. I took my BMW in and they wanted another $ 100 for diagnosis. I passed. Took the car to John’s. His people diagnosed the BMW for free and told me I had nothing to worry about. Still true. They took the Forester, spent almost a week searching down parts (they called me twice to update) and then fixed it… in two hours… for $ 350. An all around stellar experience, and they’re my repair folks from now on.

AAA will tow 100 miles 5 times a year for $ 90!

I’v lived in This area for 15 Years All VW Shops mechanics in Vancouver WA. are QUESTIONABLE at BEST! This person John Was recommended He would not stand by his parts! I would not go here! I have the receipt! Why would you choose this forum to bash me? I have other reviews feel free to look!

Took my car in here to have an axel replaced. Fair price, competetive with everyone else. Good work, got it done right the first time. But what really sets John apart is accessability. He called me several times to give me updates on my work and he was always available when I called in with questions. This is almost non-​existent with other mechanics, you never get to talk to them.
Serioously, do yourself a favor, take your car here for service. You won’t regret it, you’ll save some money and you will be supporting a great locally owned business.
