The food was amazing. The owners are friendly and polite. Come here for the experience.

Every time I come here I fall in love all over again. The cevapi is perfect, their lepinje is fluffy and spongey. the only thing I could possibly fault them for is they always give these teeny tiny cups of ajvar and sour cream with my togo orders of cevapi. You get one of each, they’re maybe a teaspoon, maybe. Doesn’t matter what size cevapi you get, you get the same teeny dollop of sauces. Otherwise everything is great! The owners explained to us that to their great disdain they cannot serve any sort of fresh salad/vegetables as they would have to install another sink configuration in their kitchen, and they just don’t have the room. So be prepared, this is a meat and bread place, not that that’s ever bad ;) Been going for two years now.

Went here on a whim for lunch with Coworkers. I am impressed. Never having had Bosnian food, I can’t speak to its authenticity, but it is satisfying, savory, flavorful fare. The Burek is really good. Ask for some of the ground pimento sauce on the side. The Razniji beef skewers are also quite good. They are served with a generous pile of fries on the side. They have a few wines and beers here along with soft drinks, coffee, etc. I wouldn’t eat this kind of food every day, as it’s really meat heavy, but I love it every once in a while. It is definitely a place I’ll go back to when I’m in a mood for a big meaty experience. Also, a note on the service: They were great. We were a big party of 8 or 10 people, and they kept us all happy. The waiter was friendly, and the experience was wonderful.

My Mom and I visited here in July. We were so looking forward to authentic cuisine. The owner is just lovely, but the food left me scratching my head. We ordered Mjesano Meso and received a plate with a hot dog, hamburger patty, link sausage, chicken breast and a beef skewer on a bed of french fries served with a side of mayo and ketchup. All of this for $ 23. I am completely mystified.

My review for their food and service, I loved it, I got this plate that had 3 or 4 types of meat, and it came with 2 huge pieces of pita bread, the service was phenomenal and very welcoming, my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and plan on going back :-)

Surprisingly delicious! I was tentative at first because of the sparse menu options but this place is awesome! Fast service(my coworkers and I come here on our lunch), very European authentic atmosphere, down to earth people and awesome portion sizes! Plus for the amount of food you get $ 6.00 for a small plate is awesome! Can’t wait to try more!

My first time visit to and taste of Bosnian food. I tried one of its traditional meal, Cevapi. It is actually a round bigger burger-like bread, where inside is a bunch of small kebab meat. Laid Served with chopped onion, sour cream and Ajvar sauce. The combination of these make a unique taste. Really like it!

Stopped in here while on Vancouver for work. Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Can’t beat the prices either. I am not sure what people have complained about — perhaps this place is not for the starbucks asian fusion crowd who expect an encyclopedic menu with truffles and aoili. But if you like real food, look no further. The menu is simple and slight, which I think is part of its charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Wish it was closer to my home.

Wow… Are you serious? All these four and five star reviews must come from friends and family of this place. My experience as a whole here was nothing less than awful. The owner accidentally spilled Turkish coffee on a brand new sweater I was wearing then proceeded to serve my friend and I the most tasteless, mediocre food ever. I don’t know if there were improvements made to this dive since I last visited but seriously, it’s a dive. Never again…

I visited this place on a hot day and the front door of the restaurant was wide open as flies were flying in and out, no ac on, due to the heat inside we decided to seat our selfs outside .The server(possibly owner) was friendly but never during our visit we were brought water to the table .Ćevapi were ok but lepinja was not baked in the middle … pita tasted a little old … Guests were sitting on the patio while the server(owner) and cook visited with them and they were really loud and of course smoking right next to our table… I’m a native Bosnian and i absolutely understand the smoking and socializing with your guests part but this place was doing it on a very low level … Would not go back there again.

My Croatian friend took me here. We both had the large Cevapi. It was awesome. Great quality food, nice people and European soccer on TV. Can’t beat it… To finish, we had the old school Turkish coffee served with beautiful presentation. Can’t wait to go back.

As an introduction: Back in the early 90’s I had a two year expat assignment in the part of former Yugoslavia that is now called Macedonia, which would be about 2 – 300 miles away from Bosnia; so I know the basics of the food… Stopped in saturday 1⁄11 for a lunch after reading the reviews here. The menu is what you would find in a typical restaurant anywhere in former Yugoslavia.(no disrespect to Bosnia, trying to be inclusive here) I ordered a medium Cevapi… it was great… All ingredients fresh and well prepared, and the portion size was a little larger than i expected, so i left stuffed and happy. The owner is very enthusiastic about the cuisine, and he offered to go over the menu with me dish by dish, but when I told him that I lived in Macedonia for a time, he saw that I knew my cevapcici from my rasnici from my pleskavica(grin). Tourism brochures on the table are a VERY neat touch, and fill the time needed to prepare fresh food. Yeah, i see where the Bosnian internet radio may not be everyones cup of café turska, but it was at a volume level that I recall as typical for a restaurant over there and I think its a great atmosphere /cultural touch. Go, you’ll love it. I intend to return PS: finding it(I missed it and had to double back… could have been a function of the crappy rainy weather yesterday)… As you are driving on Fourth Plain, Burton is about a long block east of Andresen… Burton Road is what the Auto Mall Road would be if the Auto mall crossed 4th plain… Its on the right, about a block south of Fourth plain. Look for the mailbox that has a Bosnian flag design holding it on the post…

I decided to try something new by coming out to this place. Saw the reviews and some of the items mentioned online. I went with a crevapi to go. The friendly owner explained this is one of the national dishes of Bosnia and other surrounding countries. It’s little meat in a warm pita with a couple of condiments. One is orange and I believe is some kind of eggplant mix with some zest to it I really liked. The other was not quite sure. Some kind of yogurt. I got the medium size and it stuffed me up. I’ll be back to try a couple other items to help expand my palette.

Loved it. 4 stars because patrons yell but I hear they are loud as a nation :) Ask for the fresh Burek don’t settle for the one that is microwaved. They make the fresh one around noon.

Service is terrible. Very unattentive to customers. The were closed for a week doing roof work, when reopened the didn’t bother preparing one of their signature dishes — bosnian burek. So instead we had the cevapi. That was good, and decent price for the size.

When most people think of Bosnia, they think of war atrocities and NATO intervention. When I think of Bosnia, I think of my favorite country in all of Europe and delicious bureks and cevapcicis. Unfortunately, San Diego, and from what I can tell, Southern California, is devoid of authentic Bosnian food. Sure, you can find some bastardized Turkish styel bureks at farmers markets once in a while, but it’s just not the same. Luckily for me, my grandmother lives in Vancouver, meaning everytime I visit her, I can swing by Bosnia Restaurant to get my fix of authentic Sarajevo style bureks and cevapcici sausages. The owner is a native of Zenica, and proudly displays tourist brochures for his home region which are fun to flip through. The sound system is pumping Bosnian internet radio. If you close your eyes, you can imagine sitting in a roadside café in Travnik. Both times I have been, the beef bureks have been out(maybe Sundays are bad days for these), but they did have the ricotta/cottage cheese stuffed cheese bureks which are outstanding. In the true Sarajevo style and paired with ajvar, these are fantastic. The cevapis are excellent and taste as authentic as can be. Cevapis are generally stuffed into a fresh baked roll of springy bread which is usually the item most commonly botched by Bosnian restaurants. Bosnia Restaurant’s rolls are perfect, and make the perfect implement to make little cevapi«tacos» to dip into the ajvar and sour cream. I have not had the pleasure of trying their baklavas, but am excited to do so on my next visit to see Grandma. At this point, I consider each trip up to Portland as a way to visit my grandmother, but REALLY, as a way to hit up Bosnia Restaurant and then head to Ground Kontrol in downtown Portland. You don’t need to be adventurous to enjoy Bosnian food, as exotic as it sounds on face. It’s meat, bread and cheese. One of the very few reasons to head into dreary Vancouver. After all, I’m basically flying up to PDX from San Diego for this food.

This place has become so much better over the years. I took my family there and we all loved the food! Portions are just right. The service is not chatty, but is quiet and efficient. You will not be bugged with a check until you request one, just a cultural thing, so make sure to ask for your check when done. Go there if you are looking for good Bosnian food.

Great food. We ordered«Cevapi» and«Sirnica.» Cevapi are delicious and they come in a huge Lepinja(a type of bread). Lepinja is very soft so it is difficult to hold and eat at the same time(as there are 10 or 12 cevapi in M & L size order, so cevapi can easily fall out). But, it was delicious! Sirnica was great too. Can’t wait to go back.
