Brought my laptop in for a loan, hoping to get a $ 75 loan. I only needed the loan for a week. Initially, both employees stated they «wouldn’t be able to give me very much» and offered a $ 20 loan. I bought this laptop less than a year ago, for $ 450, and the lowest price online now — ANYWHERE — is $ 225, which is literally the cheapest, and used. I just moved to Vancouver, and the pawn shop I used to go to would offer me $ 150 for this laptop. I had recently pawned it before we moved as well, getting a loan of $ 150. I had to fight for a $ 50 loan. FIFTY DOLLAR LOAN. This is what I have to do when I am low on cash and need groceries for my kids, but I always get my laptop back out. Like I said, it was in there for ONE WEEK, and not only did I only get a $ 50 loan, but when I got my laptop out and brought it home, it was logged into someone elses xbox account. Someone had been using my laptop, while it was in the pawn shop for one week… beyond irritating. This is hands down the worst pawn shop you could possibly go to. Not only do the employees treat their customers like trash, but they have very shady loan policies and obviously like to use other people’s things. Benefiting off the misfortune of others, way to go guys. I will NEVER do business here again, and will make it my mission that anyone I know doesn’t either.

Sold me a stolen bike. Checked on stolen bike registry and it had been stolen in Portland. They reported the wrong serial number to VPD. Their response was less than satisfying. «Oh Well». They have 2 stores in Vancouver. May be there standard practice to get around reporting requirements.

Horrific Customer Service, threatening environment, scams, and blatant con-​artist phrases. Make sure you know what you are getting into here for a Loan. unlike most pawn shops in Portland that want your repeat business if you can’t pay on time your item goes on the floor but can be pulled back off the floor for payment of the interest. NOT HERE they roll your item on the floor mark it up above what you pay on craigslist or even new for some items and won’t negotiate. I was told they would call the police cause I complained that they didn’t allow me to pay my interest and buy my items back a a negotiated price. If I wanted them at a new price I would buy them new. Since I said fuck two guys bullied me out the door or they’d call the cops. So I called the cops and 911 said to call the courts to take them to court. As I was on the phone with 911 the owner told me he was ok selling them at the normal price to get me of the phone. And I went back into the store and he then increased the price by another 100 bucks for no reason, period. I asked politely that we need to to have ZERO discussion and just finalize the transaction. He then threatened me again with his cowork we packs a pistol as I think he didn’t really think I had called the police. I then called the courts and they asked for his name so start the process for which he wouldn’t give me. I was just trying to get my stuff back as reasonable price and pay the interest. There was no need to threaten me and raise prices just to add fuel to the fire. ID HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR PHONE AND RECORDING YOUR CONCERVERSATION WITH THEM IN CASE YOU NEED TO GO TO COURT TO GET YOUR ITMES BACK. Also it is worth driving to Portland’s Siliver Lining Pawn shop as they are the real deal and will give you a LOT MORE for a lawn than
American Pawn. In a couple instance they gave my upwards of 5 to 8x what American pawn offered me. Probably the worst and most hostile places I’ve ever had to deal with.

I went to America pawn to have 2 items checked out. I had a ring with beautiful stones and real diamonds. Also an 18 karat gold necklace. Everything in which I knew was real. I went in and played dumb. Just to see what they would say. Also prior to going there last year I had my ring appraised so I knew what it was worth, The gentleman at the store looked at me took my stuff in the back and said he tested all the stones in my ring and told me they were all fake. And offered me $ 100 for ring that was worth 3000. He was very shocked when I told him that I was actually checking him out to See if these people told the truth and weren’t going to try to rip me off. Well they failed and tried to rip me off and lied to me I mean $ 100 for $ 3000 ring and $ 100 for 18 karat gold chain worth $ 1000. Do not go there these people are joke. Horrible establishment terrible customer service and liars. I’m giving them one star only because it was so funny to see the look on their face when they found out I had my stuff appraised!!! Good job American pawn you won’t last long
