History

Established in 1990.

SCV Quality Care is now open at its new permanent location in Valencia! SCV Quality Care has been providing urgent care, family medicine, and occupational medical services for more than 25 years in the Santa Clarita Valley. After 15 years on the campus of the Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital, SCV Quality Care has moved to the new medical building, Skylight Medical Plaza, located at 23 823 Valencia Blvd, Suite 160, Valencia. The building is located between the Bank of America building and the Sheriff’s station, across from the Auto Club.

The medical clinic is in a brand new facility with digital x-​ray, lab services, and electronic medical records. A full range of medical services is offered, including, comprehensive medical care for the entire family, disease prevention, treatment of diabetes, hypertension, sutures, lacerations, wound care, general physicals, sports physicals, and more. SCV Quality Care also takes care of work injuries, first aid, drug screens, DMV physicals, and more

Dennis P. Lewis M D.

Business Owner

Dennis P. Lewis, MD, the Medical Director, graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1992 and upon graduation, was chosen by UCLA’s faculty to become a member of the highly prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (a lifetime membership). Dr. Lewis completed his residency at the UCLA Department of Family Medicine, and served as a clinical professor in the UCLA Department of Family Medicine until 2004 when he joined SCV Quality Care as its Medical Director. Dr. Lewis is board certified in Family Medicine (100th percentile), is a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and upon invitation, has worked with the American Board of Family Medicine throughout the years to develop the Family Medicine board certification exams. Dr. Lewis works with Kathy Herrera (Nurse Practitioner) and Alex Turnipseed (PA) and strives to provide comprehensive and excellent medical care and treatment to his patients.

It was disappointing that Alex Turnipseed is no longer on staff. So I decided I would try another provider. The level of service was no where near the excellent service that has always been given to me by Alex Turnipseed in the past. So, for future physicals, I am off to find out where Alex Turnipseed went to. It is rare to find a healthcare provider that actually cares about your health and listens to you the way Alex Turnipseed did. I will not be returning to rhis center. I will find out where Turnipseed went and go there.

While the wait is a bit long, everyone there is very nice and were very helpful when I needed to get tested for strep ASAP. I’ll be going back here forever as I’ve made it my #1 urgent care place in the SCV.

Dr. Lewis is great. Attentive, professional and very very knowledgeable. The office staff was super friendly and although there is a wait to see Dr. Lewis it’s worth it. I highly recommend this urgent care.

I walked in here because I needed a physical for school in a hurry, and the ladies at the front desk were really friendly and efficient. There was a small concern with whether or not my insurance would cover the visit, but they were able to figure things out quickly and easily. There were a lot of people in the waiting room, but I think my total visit was less than an hour. .. maybe even half an hour if I remember right. Once I got to the back I was helped by a PA who was also extremely friendly and quick. Overall, really great service and nice positive vibe.

Dr Lewis is truly a wonderful DR. He took time to listen all my ailments, connecting the dots and being thoughtful (and pragmatic) with his approach. He completely understood all my concerns. He also waited 30 minutes past my appointment time as I was late. Many Dr’s would have asked to reschedule. Awesome DR.

I’ve been here a couple of times. First time, the doc figured out I had a sinus infection, had the worst allergies! He was spot on and professional. The office is clean. It does take a bit long to be seen, but when they do, they are nice and get the job done.

I’ve been to a couple Urgent Cares in the area. This was far and away the best experience. I saw Dr. Alex Turnipseed. He knew exactly what to treat and how to treat it. He was very personable, friendly and thorough in explaining things.
The front office is classy with large leather seats and the people at the counter and those running things in the back were super friendly. I had to pick up my son from school so time was an issue and they handled things so well I had time to spare. The waiting was about 20 minutes total which is fantastic considering I was a new patient with no appointment (I’ve had waits at other places of well over an hour).
Finally the other big convenience is the small pharmacy right outside the door. I had my rx filled in minutes. Definitely the only Urgent Care I’ll be visiting, even though there are a couple closer by me.

Dr. Lewis is by far one of the best doctors! Extremely intelligent, competent, and caring! My mom first saw him for a hand injury, which was caused by her lifting my little ones too much in her old age. He was so good with her that she refuses to see anyone else when she is here visiting us from Hawaii and needs medical care. She had a stroke this past summer while here with us and he was very thorough when I took her in after she was discharged from Henry Mayo Hospital. He was even more thorough than the doctors on duty assigned to her while she was at the hospital. I myself went in for an issue based on blood work ordered by another doctor. Dr. Lewis clarified the issue for me and explained why it was not cause for concern. My husband recently went in for the worse pain I had ever seen him in. Both Dr. Lewis and Alex took very good care of him. I’m surprised to see negative reviews on here. I’m guessing that SCV Quality Care going through two moves from their old location (first to Castaic and then to Valencia Blvd) is perhaps why things did not go as smoothly as they usually do with regards to issues others are mentioning in their reviews. I personally am willing to be patient with the hiccups that happen with moving to a new location given the doctor here genuinely cares about providing quality medical care to his patients. Furthermore, this new location is great! It’s a nice building with a modern feel inside and lots of parking.

I had a very positive experience, mainly because of Dr. Alex Turnspeed. He is the best Dr. in Santa Clarita Valley, and he actually seems to like helping people and will spend appropriate time, instead of treating his patience like a dollar sign. I know this as I became really sick, after 3 E.R. visits 10 Doctors later, nobody was able to figure out what was wrong or help me. He was familiar with my symptoms as seemed to puzzle other doctors, he gave correct treatment for me, as after months of being sick with some mystery illness, and after many different antibiotics that weren’t working, he gave me something, and literally helped me to function again. I felt like he listened to me, cared and if he personally couldn’t help me, was willing to find the right help. I am sad I am moving out of state, as I have found it so hard to find a great Dr. He is truly the best.

My experience at SCV Quality Care today was very pleasant. I was a walk-​in, and it was busy, but I only waited about 20 minutes. The environment of the facility is very calming and the staff, nurses, and doctor were all very considerate and helpful.
I saw the NP Kathy and she was perfectly nice. My family usually comes to see Dr. Lewis though, and he is the best there is! I know I can always trust in him and everyone else at SCV Quality Care.
