SCV Landscaping

I guess I have to echo another review. I called twice and left two voicemails to start a pool and front yard. It’s been two weeks and no return phone call. A courtesy call at least indicating they are too busy to take on another job would have been a good business practice. I gave up and actually found a friendly and prompt contractor.

My husband and I worked with SCV Landscaping to re-​landscape our back yard into something more drought friendly and useful. We then had the typical large grass lawn with some plants along the borders; but due to the clay soil, in reality, we had dead grass with patches of swampy grass.
We first met with Rob on August 26^th, and he set us up to meet with their designer Kim. We then met with her a few times to talk about what we wanted. Brian, the project manager, also came and measured. Kim listened to our needs, took our ideas, and presented a design that exceeded my expectations. Her design incorporated our ideas but made them better – she applied her design expertise and landscape knowledge and gave us something that we wanted but unable to express. October 8^th, we signed our contract. Rob was very professional and great to work with. He told us the expected time for the work we wanted done would be about four weeks. With the holidays coming up, and possible weather delays, he let us know that it would take longer than the four weeks. He also made sure that we didn’t have an event coming up such as hosting the family holiday in the new back yard. It then took weeks to obtain the HOA approval, but finally things got moving. And we set a start date.
November 8^th, the work crew started the demolition. Brian even stopped by the day before, to mark the demo areas for his crew. The work crew came consistently and the work progressed. Eric seemed to be the direct supervisor for the crew and he was also easy to work with. The worksmanship and the high quality materials they use were impressive. The kids got to put their handprints in the concrete as well. We gave our final payment to SCV Landscaping on January 14^th.
Overall, we were highly satisfied with the work. All projects have bumps along the way and ours were minor. When a wall was taken down leaving the yard open, we asked when we would choose the gate and were referred to a great guy, Cesar, who came to measure and let us choose. The gate was custom made and installed on January 26^th. The concrete has several marks – looks like leaves had fallen on the surface while drying – and Brian offered to patch them, but the patches would wear off over time so we decided against it. The whole project took longer than the initial estimate, but with the two holidays and a few days of rain, I felt it was reasonable.
And at the end of it all, the backyard is so much more accessible and useful. The kids have planted bulbs, herbs and a couple blueberry bushes in the beautiful planters and enjoy watering and watching their plants. They play outside exponentially more than before since they can run around, ride their little cars, and bounce balls. Thanks, SCV Landscaping!

SCV Landscaping recently did hardscape and softscape (front, back, & sides… new build, so no existing landscaping, etc.). They were not necessarily the cheapest of the quotes we got, but the design we got from Jim and the quality of work explained to us (and visible in our neighbors yard done by Jim and his crew) far surpassed any other bids we got.
Despite ours being a sizable job, it was finished in just over a month, right on target for what was promised and it’s everything we hoped it would be. In addition, Jim submitted to our HOA who are notoriously difficult to work with, and ensured that we got approved in advance.
Overall, we are very happy!

I didn’t use SCV Landscaping, regrettably. I considered them along with a couple other companies. They were great but I chose a lower priced contractor. In the end, I dealt with a lot of headaches and I ended up paying just as much. My neighbors used them and their house was done weeks before mine and the quality was far better. Do your research, you really do get what you pay for…

SCV landscaping just finished our backyard. We have an older home and the backyard was mostly grass with a lattice shade bar. It was hard to imagine how it would turn out, we decided to redo everything and are extremely happy we did it all at once and with SCV. We did pavers, fire pit, built in BBQ, an A-​frame gable patio cover with a shade bar coming off one side, grass, plants and trees. It is beautiful! Brian, the project manager, was here almost everyday and made himself available throughout the process. He was here so much we actually miss the guy! I knew when we walked through some of the projects they were working on, and some that were finished, that they did great work, (yes they actually took the time to show us there work) but I never imagined it coming out this good! The whole team made themselves available from the beginning, and we’re approachable starting with Nick and Rob, the owners, Kim the designer, to Brian. If I had to go through a large project like this I would use them every time. Also the quote they gave me was what I paid. They didn’t nickel and dime me for little things we asked to add during the process.

I am very satisfied with the enormous job SCV did in our yard. They stayed within budget and created a design that worked perfectly for our needs. It took a little bit longer than expected, but good things take time and touch.
Brian the project manager was always available to answer questions and make things happen.
Kim handled the design and brought a space to life that I only imagined.

SCV Landscaping did an amazing job on our back and side yard landscaping. They stayed within budget, and were very efficient. We purchased a new construction home, so our property was just dirt, and we wanted all the landscaping done before we moved in (we had about a month from when we closed escrow to when we planned to move in). They told us the job would take approximately 6 weeks, yet they finished us in 3 weeks! Rob and Nick are also very responsive to any follow-​up items after they finished the job. They warranty their job and follow through with that warranty with no complaints. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend them!

I called twice and texted twice after being told I would be called back. His excuse was «I was just too busy with appointments.» I gave up after 4 days of waiting. I understand running a small business is hard, especially when you have to do most of the work yourself. But first impressions in a business are everthing.
Customer service is always a priority, from answering the phone, to following through with callbacks. They may be a good landscaping company, but they lost my business at the get go. I’m doing a complete remodel on a 10,000 square foot backyard. I don’t have time to sit around and wait for a contractor to call me back.

We just completed a very large landscape design process with Kim Williams, a designer at SCV Landscaping. I consider myself a very detailed person and very much appreciate the detail and thought Kim put into the design process. From material choices to design recommendations, her expertise was evident.
— hint: when she tells you that you need more plants or makes a strong recommendation for a design direction, best listen to her! (yes Kim, you were right :) — We could not be happier with the results. Top notch, and her experience shows. We have a landscape plan we are excited about.
Rob and Nick, the principals, are also excellent to work with. They have been professional, polite, and very welcoming of feedback and input. We never felt any pressure with this group of people and have been impressed with their knowledge and approach.
You’ll do yourself a favor if you consider SCV Landscaping for any landscaping jobs you have coming up. I researched quite a few companies for our project, and they stood out. An excellent experience.

Very happy with our results. We’ve received a LOT of offers to landscape our yard and we are happy we went with SCV Landscaping mainly due to their professionalism, knowledge, and customer service. They were very detailed about the process and I never felt rushed or as if any questions I had along the way were too dumb. I had a phone call with Nick from the beginning when inquiring about the company and he was very thorough in explaining everything to me. Then I met with Kim who is a wonderful landscape designer to discuss my vision for the project. As things got rolling Rob called to introduce himself and answer any questions I had and address any concerns that had arised. No detail felt too small. I also really appreciated their response to feedback — I let Kim know at one point that I felt I wasn’t getting the communication I needed in order to know what was going on behind the scenes before the project started and from that point forward. communication was on point. My parents live with us and my mother even called Rob once about the guys leaving trash on the work site. He called her right back and spoke at length with her about her issue and made her feel at ease. We didn’t have any more problems with trash after that. I value a company that is not afraid of feedback because that shows they really care about their customer service and they truly want to do a great job and improve their services whenever possible. Issues, concerns, or problems are going to come up. How a company handles those issues is what matters. The guys who worked were very hard working and professional, always dressed in the company logo; and Kim, Nick, and Rob were often on site overseeing things and very accessible. The overall process did not take long and we even had several rain days and holidays in the mix. They handled all the paperwork for the home owner’s association as well making things a bit easier for us. When the project was completed, Rob did a final walk through with us to review everything which gave a good feeling of closure. No matter what amount of money you are spending on your project — it is a lot of money to the homeowner. Ours was a smaller project but a huge deal for our family and a long term investment in our home. It was nice to work with a company that seemed to value our job as much as the bigger more expensive jobs. This is why I like supporting locally owned family businesses — there is a warmth and sense of community that larger corporations can tend to lose at times.

Very pricey! My planted plants have died & no one from this co ever came back to replace the plants that died that the workers planted w my money. A step was need for the «spool» & that was an extra $ 500. I am not impressed with this company seeing my plants die & no return calls to fix it.

I hired SCV landscaping for a HUGE project to do my entire front and back yard. This included a paver driveway, pool, fire pit, built in barbecue and covered patio. I can’t say this project went 100% smoothly, but if you know construction, nothing goes 100% smoothly with a project of this magnitude. here were no problems with SCV landscaping at all. The only issues we had were some minor issues with a couple subcontractors.
SCV handled everything from the design all the way through the completion of the project. The guys they have installing the pavers are true craftsmen and the person supervising the project is an «old school» do it slow and do it right kind of guy. Very refreshing in today’s «slap it together quick» world. All of SCV’s crew takes pride in their work and it shows.
SCV’s owners were on site every day and were easy to reach and to do business with.
I don’t believe in loans, so I had been saving my money for the past 15 years to build my dream home. I am very pleased with my new back yard and front yard. I feel like my hard earned money was well spent!

My husband and I are very happy with the way our yard turned out. Rob and Nick were always available to answer our questions and were very honest before, during and after the job. Their foreman and crew were very professional, hard working and friendly. SCV didn’t start the job until they knew they could finish within a reasonable timeframe. Our yard was finished before some others in the area that started before ours! And it came out great! The only issue I had was several times we were wondering what was coming next and why they weren’t working some days (which turned out to be waiting for permits, but would have been nice to know). We also didn’t have much notice for when payments were due. There were milestones called out on the contract, but we weren’t told when those were coming… until they were upon us. We also expected a walk through at the end with Rob and Nick, but did not get this. It doesn’t mean they didn’t deliver or agree to take care of things, but it would have been nice to see they were interested in the end result and tying up loose ends in person. Otherwise, it was a great experience and have recommended SCV to many other people in the neighborhood and beyond!

One star ! too many…

Very very pleased with SCV Landscaping. After consulting with several potential landscaping companies, my husband and I decided to award the business to SCV. We were very impressed by the professionalism and dedicated customer service provided by Nick and Rob. Nick and Rob presented themselves very well, wearing company polos – pen and paper in hand – determined to capture our vision. SCV understood our vision for the backyard without too much explanation and even recommended a few changes to improve our use of the space. As the project began and progressed, it was not uncommon to see Nick overseeing the work and checking-​in with my husband and I to ensure we were aligned with the work conducted. They made sure we were happy – especially me :)
The work was completed in a timely manner and to our standards. I would definitely recommend SCV Landscaping for those looking for quality results and outstanding customer service at a reasonable price.

My wife and I bought a new home in West Hills. Saw their signs in a number of locations. This was the first new house I bought so I didn’t know my way around the landscaping process. SCV gave me a professional designer to work with who came up with ideas and layouts I couldn’t have imagined. The project was over our budget so Rob and Nick agreed to finance part of the project. Their creativity and business approach gave my family more than we expected. Prices were fair and the financing was key to avoid having to cut things out. Good experience and great people to work with.

WOW! That’s all that really comes to mind when I look at our yard. I couldn’t have imagined our modest space being transformed into what Nick & Rob created. And, on top of that, they and the rest of the team (Denise, Tom, Berto and others) were just nice and pleasant to interact with.
We’ll definitely call on SCV Landscaping for future projects.

SCV Landscaping was a pleasure to deal with. I needed a complete redo of my front and back yards, which were in pretty bad shape. And I’m one of those people that know what I like but am not design minded to come up with the ideas. I had a few photos and some scrambled ideas about what I wanted. At the first meeting, Rob and Nick took my project as a challenge and I could see their enthusiasm for what they do. Nick hit it on the head when he said they wanted to create an «oasis» for me. The same night they responded with a detailed estimate. The work was started quickly and was completed in a very timely manner. I now have beautifully landscaped yards, which are pretty now, but I believe will be even more beautiful in the spring when everything is in bloom. They also installed a gas firepit, a fountain, completely re-​did the sprinklers and lighting, and reconfigured the grass and planters. There was great attention to detail, and they put thought into the placement of every plant and tree. When small issues arose, as they do with any big project, Rob and Nick, were quick to respond, and issues were resolved quickly. They were very open to working within my budget, and some creative design ideas helped me to stay within budget without sacrificing the overall effect I was looking for. Rob and Nick always made themselves available, and one or both were at my house on most every morning and evening, to work with the crew, and check on progress and work with me on making decisions. I am very pleased with the experience and happy with the result. Thank you, guys!

The SCV Landscaping crew did a great job for our backyard renovation project! My wife and I really appreciated their attentiveness to detail and accessibility to issues when they arose. I would recommend them for any landscaping project and have often toured their prospective clients through my yard to show them what they can accomplish.
