LOVEDTHEPIZZAHERE! I came here as part of a meetup group a few weeks ago. We wanted to go before the menu changed. We tried almost every pizza on the menu and shared them among us. We had: margherita salsiccia(one of my faves) funghi pancetta(crowd fave, one of my faves) Our server was great and very attentive to the 7 of us. I can’t wait to go back for more pizza.

I am a huge fan of Neopolitan style, wood fired pizzas and as much as I’ve wanted to love TGP, it has not measured up to any of my expectations. The menu reads mouth wateringly but the food never seems to make it to the table with the same gusto. I’ve tried several different house pizzas and the toppings are consistently flavorful but we all know that pizza, especially wood fired pizzas are all about the crust, and that is where this place fall apart. Every pie I’ve had here has been horrendously soggy and limp. With the telltale char marks and bubbles on the underside it really disappointing to bite in and be underwhelmed by too little chew and absolutely no crispness. Compounding the meh crust is the apathetic and personality-less service. I’ve yet to meet the owner or any of the kitchen staff so this may not be unilateral but none of the servers seem to give two craps about their jobs or your satisfaction. For my money the move to satisfy my pizza jones in this area is to skip The Good Pie and head west on Delmar just east of old bonhomme and visit the guys at La Pizza. All around better option.

We had high hopes for the pizza oven brought over from Italy. Was staving for a good pie, drove out of our way to come here. The summary is we were less than impressed with the service and the food. The pizza sauce was good, but everything else really missed the mark for the Lou, let alone Italy(for what it is worth, had pizza in Zurich that is my measuring stick). They never delivered our appetizer. Order was wrong. One decent thing you would think is the drinks are all made from small non mass produced liquors, which is fine, but the rum drink on the menu reminded me of bile. I sent back the drink, wad still charged for an appetizer we never got, No apologies or adjustments Won’t go back.

I ate dinner here on Pi Day so it was very busy to say the least. We were a group of three and I think we came just right before the start of the dinner rush because we were pretty much seated right away which was super awesome. The first thing I realized was that they have a really small menu. They have the classics such as Salsiccia for $ 13.50 and then a couple of interesting ones such as the Mastunicola for $ 14.00. I really loved both of them! The sausage was super tasty and complimentary to this style of pizza. The mastunicola has a topping of pancetta and an over easy egg in the middle. I found the pancetta a tad bit salty but with the egg, especially the yolk, it was just supremely delightful. Service was pretty good. We got a fair amount of attention from waters being filled to being checked up on a couple of times. One of my friends was taking a long time to decide on what to get and thankfully our server was really patient. Ambiance is nice but I did notice that for a small restaurant they sure play really loud music. My only complaint was that the pizzas took a really long time before getting to our table. I understand that they are wood fired but oh man I was really getting hungry and wishing that I ordered an appetizer while waiting. Our group wasn’t really warned about a long wait so I wasn’t entirely sure if that’s always the case or if it was due to the place being packed. Either way I know that I will be back because I had a good time and the pizza was excellent!

If you’re looking for the normal fast food pepperoni pizza, you won’t find it here. You will find thoughtful combinations of high quality ingredients. I’ve been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and found the quality of the food and service to be similar at both times. The food here is top-notch and get’s five stars. But, the downsides are that the location is small, so there are few tables, and that it takes a while to bake up those fresh quality pizzas. Normally, I’m in favor of chatting with friends for a while over some wine while we wait for our food but, since the place is small, there’s always a group of people waiting for seats and staring at you, which makes the waiting a little uncomfortable. Still, the food is good enough that I’ll be back for more!

Loved it! Definitely best pizza on the loop! Maybe even STL or the universe! We got the two basic vegetarian options and the salami and they were all delicious. Simple, fresh, sour tomatoes, chewy bread. Not too burnt. Just perfect. The primitivo is tasty. Like a true hipster Italian restaurant there is a vermouth selection.

The only reasonably authentic(i.e. Italian Italian) pizza that I’ve had in St. Louis. That doesn’t mean it’s fabulous, but it’s good and solid stuff. Certainly better than the fastically overrated Pi. Great crust. Decent cheese. Nice sauce. So-so salad. Good beer selection. Cozy stop on a chilly night. They could be faster.

I’ll start right off with I think the pizza here is very good. It’s an upscale wood oven cooked pizza and the offerings, although limited are all very good. The Chop salad is my go to salad and the white bean appetizer is a great starter. I would mention that I eat here on a regular basis and the service lately is not very professional. By that i mean the people are very nice, super polite but not well managed and for sure don’t seem to understand about serving food. By example, on a recent dinner visit here, we ordered a starter, salad and a pizza and of course drinks. The salads came first, then an apology that she forgot the starter and before the salads very done the pizza arrived. I guess if your in a super hurry this is a good thing, but its more about the staff not knowing how to pace an order. This has happened more than once and I should mention the place was not that busy or understaffed. Perhaps the way to go here is take out… If you really want a relaxed well paced pizza dinner you might want to consider driving down Delmar a bit and try Tavola, they also have some excellent pizza.

Just as delicious as I remember from their first location. I have been dying to try their new location and finally made it in tonight. The white bean dip appetizer was perfect to hold us over until our pizzas arrived. Thin, doughy yet crispy crust with amazing toppings. I got the one with the egg(can’t remember the real name) and the other two both got the sausage one. All were amazing. I want to go back for every single pizza on the menu! Plus the atmosphere is relaxing, casual and comfortable. And their drink menu was impressive! The Good Pie is easily still at the top of my list for pizza in St. Louis!

Haven’t been since they moved to the loop. Decided to bring my coworker here a month or two ago since he really loves pizza and hasn’t tried this place yet. New location isn’t much different from the old, in terms of their interior/set-up although the new bar area is much larger and it looks like they have cocktails now in addition to the beer and wine. Which is awesome in my book, though I usually just get a beer. Had a Caesar salad and the good pie pizza. I forget what coworker had, but I think it was the pizza with the prosciutto on top. I was explaining to him what buffalo mozzarella is and that it’s basically just awesome and tastes like god. He agreed, it was a pretty spiritual experience! It’s hard to say what my favorite pizza place is in town. The Good Pie is pretty high up on my list, if not number 1. But sometimes I am in the mood for something a little different, size and texture wise, and flavor wise, and that is when I’d go down the road to La Pizza or wayyy over to Shady Jack’s. But I’d say without a doubt, those three are my top 3 and are all tied. It just depends on my mood. coworker agreed with me. Each place is good in their own way! Also the service is still really good here and the quality is still consistently delicious. I would love to return frequently, but it is a bit of a drive for me, and I am always paranoid about parking and walking by myself in the loop after dark. Thankfully there’s a lot behind Cicero’s and it’s not too far at all. You can enter/leave from the back of the restaurant if you desire.

bf and i went. the space is pretty dimly lit — which i like. We ended up getting 2 pizzas because they’re not very big. The mastunicola was really good. we broke the egg yolk and drizzled it over the rest of the pizza. The special was with spinach and good too. There’s lots of meat on top — which carnivorous me loved. I really look forward to going back because the guy behind the bar was experimenting that night. Watching him made me imagine a potions class. A bit of this, some that, and viola, something amazing. I walked up to talk to him and he showed me many of the things he was making. It’s people like him that make places like this great!

This is good woodfired pizza. The salami is very good. Only shortcoming is that their dough doesn’t take on as much of the smoke’s flavor as I’d like. The cocktails are original and well blended, but are best made by the more serious bartenders The lighting inside is a little too bright IMO.

The Good Pie is great spot to grab lunch/dinner or drinks on Delmar. The bartender made my friend and I some cocktails«off the menu» and they were amazing. The drinks are just the beginning. If you have some time to kill and are extra hungry get one of the cheese boards. They come with an array of tasty cheeses and crispy fire-grilled bread bites. For the main dish I went with the Genoa Salami. The Salami wasn’t as good as I thought it would be but still delish. The pizzas are big enough for 1 hungry person or 2 mildly hungry individuals. They are thin but still fluffy and made in a fire brick oven out in the open. I got to try a couple bites of the Mastunicola and would probably get that if I come back. Anything with a fried egg ups it’s game in my books. I highly recommend checking TGP out if you’re looking for some unique boozy concoctions or fulfill a pizza craving.

The Good Pie is not same anymore. Moving to the Loop was not a good move in my opinion. When they were in Midtown on Olive, I use to love going there for lunch, it was relaxing and the service was always friendly. The Loop is the exact opposite. The first red flag I received was when we entered for lunch at a prime lunch time and there was only one other diner in the restaurant and not one more came in the entire hour we were there. After the service we received, I understand why TGP was so empty. The majority of the time we were there the server remained behind the bar, laying over the top and playing on his smartphone. I guess texting and posting on Facebook is more important then creating a memorable experience for the customer. Oh wait, you did. It was so memorable, I will never return. When we entered, the before mentioned server yelled out that we could sit where ever we wanted. Once we selected our table, he walked over and asked if wanted drinks. I asked what bottled beer they offered and he told me they did not sell bottled beer. I then asked for a Bloody Mary and he informed me they were sold out of their house mix and had to wait for the lead bartender to come in and make it. I enjoyed a glass of water. My dining partner ordered ice tea and when it was served, the only sweetener offered was Raw Sugar. When he requested a sugar substitute, he was rudely told that they did not offer that option. He drank his tea, unsweetened. I enjoyed a Caesar Salad with White Anchovies and the DP took advantage of the lunch special. For his lunch pizza he selected Four Cheese with the house salad. The only saving vice of my salad was the white anchovies, otherwise it was rather bland with minimal dressing. The Four Cheese pizza, was perfectly charred from the wood fire oven, but did not have the flavor of the old location. I think we’ll see them on a closing list in the very near future.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch. We shared a chop salad($ 6). .. chop — not chopped. A very big differentiation in my mind about what is a chop salad and what is a chopped salad. It was full of chickpeas, lettuce, a little grape tomatoes and an interesting dressing. The dressing was hot — as in flavor. It was OK, but kinda not what you expect for a dressing on a salad. I’d like something uplifting and fresh. I’m sure it was fresh, but it had too much heat. She got a Margherita pizza($ 12.50) — tomato, mozzarella and basil. I got a Genoa Salami pizza($ 13.50) — salami, tomato, mozzarella and basil. The pizzas were OK. We both ate half of our pizzas. They are 10-inch pizzas.

You could possibly miss this little pizza place nestled in between other shops on the Delmar Loop, but don’t! The pizza here was exceptional classic Italian Neapolitan style. The crust is medium thickness brick oven style with a few interesting combinations of Ingredients. I had a sage, cured pork belly and egg pizza called Mastunicola that was delicious and unique. My husband had the margherita pizza. His was a bit too bland for my taste buds but still tasty. TGP did not have an expansive menu but this is not necessarily a bad thing. If you have a hard time making decisions this can be helpful. Small problem that didn’t help to elevate my wine drinking experience; the wine glass that my red Dolcetto was served in was not the right type. It was too narrow with a small bowl and filled too high which didn’t allow for swirling and experiencing the nose of the wine. Hard to really enjoy the wine this way. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a heavy pour. Again small thing. I would probably expand the wine list a bit with more options as I think great pizza and a good montepaluciano or Rosso are the perfect combination! Bottom line, I would come back for the pizza because it was great, the service was exceptional, and this is a fun high energy neighborhood.

We drove to the other location not realizing they had moved. But made the drive to the new location because we were really in the mood to try it. Almost missed finding it, because it is tucked in under the street awning. Love the décor, rustic, urban modern. The pizza was really really good. Love that you each get your own pizza slicer to cut your own. Most likely will dine here again if in the area.

I had a truly great meal here a few weeks back! My parents and grandma were in town for Easter and the four of us headed over to The Good Pie. My meal started off right with a beautiful Moll’s Cup # 3(as seen on the April Sauce magazine cover). I was afraid it would be overrated, with being on the cover and all, but it wasn’t…it was just as delicious as it looks! The presentation is awesome and I love that each drink is bottled and opened/poured tableside. If you want one of these, get there early though… they only make a certain number of them per night. After drinks, we moved onto salads and tried both the arugula and Caesar salads. These were simple and lightly dressed, but I can’t say they are worth ordering. Pretty ordinary in my opinion. Our next round of dishes were anything but ordinary though! We ordered both pastas they were offering that night, which are just small tastes but pretty cheap at $ 6 or $ 7. We tried gnocchi and something akin to a super thick spaghetti. The gnocchi was the unanimous favorite due to its excellent texture… they were like little pasta pillows! I can’t quite recall what accompanied each pasta, but both were delicious yet a tad on the salty side. I would definitely recommend ordering the pasta though, they are refined dishes that you can tell require a lot of work. Now onto the most important thing… the PIZZA. The four of us ordered 3 pizzas… a margherita pie, one with pork pelly & an egg, and the special of the night which included mussels from Maine served in the shells and placed on top of the pizza crust. Each was delicious, but the pork belly was my favorite. The salty & fatty pork belly really pushed this pizza to the top for me. I will most definitely be back to The Good Pie, they gave me a GREAT first impression!

I clearly saw on the menu, this place puts it out there to not ask for any modifications of any sorts, because every item is a masterpiece and to alter it would mean the end of the world. So, what happens when you order a drink that actually says it takes extra time because of the cutting of the fruit, or something, no big deal. Its actually a delicious drink, except I cannot tolerate cucumbers in my drink, it makes me sick, and I just dont like it. There were 4 shaved cucumbers, wrapped up with mint sprigs on the top. So, I reorder the same drink, and I tell the waiter my issue with cucumbers, and asked if they could just leave them off, no problem he says. Well, it was a problem because he came back and was so apologetic, but my wish could not be granted because they don’t alter anything, so I was going to get those cucumbers, no matter what. I mean seriously? So, they know I am going to throw them away, but they did not care, and the waiter brought me my drink, and a plate, so I could take out the cucumbers right away, so he could toss them in the trash. So, he knew before making my drink, I was going to toss the cucumbers, he spent minutes peeling and wrapping them, knowing they were going to be disregarded, I mean, other people were waiting for their drinks, how is this a good idea? I seriously guess if you are hungry and desire a side of douche with your pizza, just come here. What a waste and what a snotty attitude. I hate we have come in here at least 4 times since you opened, it pains me to have given you guys money, I mean has anyone ever given consideration people are allergic to stuff and are you taking it personally because you are so proud of that cocktail? I guess a dramatic situation involving an epi pen may change their ways, so until that moment, just embrace their beloved garnishes so you don’t hurt someones feelings.

4.5 stars. These reviews are all relative, but this is the best pizza in St. Louis. Is it better than Antico? No. But, is it still delicious? Absolutely. I ate ¾ of a pizza, but it’s appropriate to order one pizza per person. The crust is light and airy. The toppings are high quality. I really like the new location, primarily because it’s closer to my house, but also because there is more seating Small menu, lots of drink choices, convenient parking behind the building.
