The Home Depot

Came here with the expectation of taking a long time like every time I go and ask an associate for a specific item. I usually get a response like «it’s not my department» and I will have to go hunt down another associate to have them tell me the same thing. The entire thing is incredibly frustrating!
But this time The first person I asked was Brandon, who lead me directly to the item I asked for. It literally took me less than 5 minutes, he walked me to the item and back to the recycling bin for batteries. Hooray for Brandon, he is freaking awesome! He knows his stuff! Talk about impeccable customer service!
Next time I am here, I will ask for Brandon! You won’t be disappointed!

Home Depot you really really let me down today. At least the three miserable employees I spoke with today. I say miserable because those three didn’t want to be at work.
I went looking for a Brinkmann grill cover. I never owned a grill this was my very first one. I needed assistance with the covers. I look around and nobody to be found. I had to go around the store. I ran into a man and woman employee. The man was talking to the girl. My impression was that he was trying smooth talk the girl. I asked them «excuse can you guys help me? «. The man rudely replied «that isn’t my department. Did you even measure your grill? «he says. I said no but I know it is a five gas grill. He says hmmm idk. Then I see that the same exact grill I have is on display. So I asked the lady employee if I could us her measuring tape. She said okay. She then said «wait idk how to measure this «hmm let me ask someone. Wow arent you supposed to be trained. Meanwhile the man comes back and says «here ask her she works in garden».
This lady named Felicia comes in eating a candy bar and says «yeah «you need to read the box «it is that simple. She made me feel so small and stupid. I said just bought the cover because needed it. Next time I am going to Lowes. What a disgrace of a store. It looks like they need to let go of these seasonal people. Or at least Retrain Felicia. Bye Felicia.

My home store is Garwood but we were close to this location. I won’t go back to this one. Under-​staffed, dirty even by hardware store standards. There was a bottle of lamp oil on a shelf, tipped over with a large puddle, the spill was still there as we left. We bought a space heater. We waited a half hour while they tried to get a lot guy to put it in my truck. They finally called a manager. They said his name was Lewis. He said they had no lot guys but didn’t make any attempt to help us himself. I walk with a cane so I couldn’t do anything. Lucky another customer came by and offered his assistance. This store is a mess.

This is my go-​to Home Depot since it’s down the street from me. I find myself going here quite often ever since I bought a house. I realize it’s small and inferior to the Home Depot Superstore in Vauxhall, but it generally has what I need. I also like that it’s not packed and hard to find parking like at the Vauxhall one. The employees here are generally friendly and helpful, though sometimes hard to find.
I usually come here when I need something right away or it’s something I can’t really get off the internet at a better price, or I want to see in person first. I wouldn’t really get things like light fixtures, plumbing fixtures or tools from here as they can be found cheaper online and you can research the item better as well. I also would rather get paint from Sherwin Williams or Riccardi Brothers (Benjamin Moore). However, I do come here for construction materials and the prices are good.

This Home Depot store has the most disgusting customer service in the state. I recently went there to purchase a washing machine. No one in the department bothered to inform of a «48 hour» return policy. I called to return the machine and spoke to one manager. He told me I had to talk to a different manager, except that guy was on vacation. So I spent days waiting for him to get back. Therefore I went over the return limit, and I’m stuck with a washer I hate. I spoke with customer service in the executive offices, and got no satisfaction. I’m not going to shop at any home depot ever again.

My sister and i were looking for paint and we were able to find exactly what we needed. The employees were very helpful. The lines were super long but eventually we were able to purchase all we needed.

Horrible staff. They treat you like trash it seems like employees are in a bad mood no one wants to help you this is one of the worst Home Depots I have seen everyone is rude no one knows anything they pass the bucket from one staff to another Avoid this store at all cost do yourself a favor. Go to another location

I had a problem that should have been simple. I bought a dryer, after 15 days it came and the delivery guy says it wouldn’t fit.
I went back to home depot after paying cash and I have to wait 3 days before I can get my money back. They kept trying to lecture me about doorways and sizes and delivery guys getting sued.
I am just a customer who needs a dryer. They cannot help you.
The problem here is that home depot has 3^rd party delivery people so you end up dealing with two different companies. Home depot doesn’t care if the delivery guys did anything or everything. I felt accosted and now it’s been 15 days and I still have to wait 3 to get my money back and buy an appliance from somewhere that will take responsibility for the sale and delivery of the appliance.
Don’t waste your time and money on appliances here, makes no sense.

My uncle spends a lot of money here and these guys know me. In the self check out line with paint stripper and a clear spray paint to paint my bike. Women across my age (23) buys colored paint. She asks us our dob we both reply let’s the women buy and leave but rejects me cos I did not have id and I was buying clear coat paint and paint remover… I can’t tag with that. I know the law but don’t ignore for one and not the other.

This is becoming one of my favorite places to visit :)
Specially soon I’ll be buying a condo with my girlfriend and we will be visiting the Home Depot more and more. I like it much more than some of the other competitors. they are more organize and have better selection.

Had everything I needed and the 2 staff members I spoke to were helpful and nice. However, all the boxes except for 1 of the window insulation were all opened. Have to watch their inventory better. I will compare the prices here to Dollar General and see what is less for cleaning products.

My family was in the hardware business (Bloomfield Ave. Newark, b/​N12th and N13th) for over 60 years, and I worked there throughout my teen years. The Rt. 22 Union location is the older and smaller of the two Home Depots in Union. I don’t often need help; I’m more likely to be one of the customers assisting others. When I have needed assistance, I’ve known enough to realize that the accuracy of the advice I’ve been given is no better than ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. While this is a lot better than the service at the old Rickles stores, it isn’t a standard that can be relied upon. They usually know how to operate a key-​cutting machine, but having a window shade cut has been frustrating. They don’t seem to understand the difference between outside (bracket-​to-​bracket) and inside (shade tip-​to-​tip) measurements. I usually add a half inch to the inside measurement, then carefully trim with a utility knife.
This Home Depot store is generally well-​stocked, but lacks the floor space needed to offer the variety of the Vauxhall store. Home Depot is notorious for their abrupt changes in the brands offered, making it very difficult to refill supplies of consumable items and parts. They generally avoid the loss-​leader strategies of Rickles; selling the principal item at a deeply discounted price, while gouging on the prices of the remaining supplies needed to complete a job. They often refuse to stock many basic hardware items, particularly the less expensive staples. Both Union stores offer rentals of both tools and trucks, and the process is a time-​consuming ordeal. Returns are usually smooth.
Two areas to avoid in your Home Depot experience are their ultra-​low grade brass plated electrical wall plates and their Hampton Bay brand of ceiling fans (ours shorted due to manufacturing defect after 5 days). On the other hand, Behr paint is excellent and reasonably priced (top-​rated by Consumer Reports, as well).
The Rt. 22 Home Depot can be a pain to get to when highway traffic doesn’t cooperate, but has plenty of parking. I’m at either of the two Union stores (but never Lowe’s) several times each month; I’ll be back.

It really is hit or miss. Half the people (mostly the younger employees) are so bored to tears to work there that it shows in the lack of help you get from them. It’s a reflection of the miserable existence they live!
Others are extremely helpful.

Ugh!!! I came here wanting to rent a tool and the sales guy was of no help. I got more/​better information from a customer. I dislike going to stores, especially specialty stores, and an employee doesn’t know the product. How dare you???

We come here a lot since are renovating our house which is near this location. It’s not the worst place, but it also depends what employee you get for assistance. It’s a hit or miss. Some are eager to help and other’s eager to be somewhere else but helping.
