Smiling Faces Home Daycare & Preschool

I am an instructor at Mission Valley ROP. I teach the Careers in Education course. I have had my high school students do their hands on volunteer hours at Smiling Faces. I randomly visit my students many times every year. Every time that I have went there all of the children were busy and very happy. The children are engaged in developmentally appropriate activities. All the teachers are very nurturing and attentive to all the children’s needs. My student’s have always loved being there. Katie has supported them and encouraged them to become awesome early childhood educators. I interact with at least 20 different preschools a year, and I can honestly say Smiling Faces is one of the best home preschools ever!

Smiling Faces Home Daycare and Preschool is superb! Ms. Katie and her staff are awesome with kids of all ages, learning styles and temperaments. Kids are always engaged, learning and having fun in a loving environment. There’s always fun, supervised learning activities to do: painting, cooking, reading, singing, dress up, you name it. A perfect blend of home and preschool. My daughter has nothing but wonderful memories about her time at Smiling Faces with Ms. Katie. An absolute must if you’re looking for a safe, clean, loving, learning environment/​home for your little one.

We have 2 kids (4 year old and 2 year old) in Smiling faces right now and are super happy with how they are well cared for and how they are developing new skills. It feels like we are leaving them with family every morning.
The daycare/​school is very professional and they learn so much there. One thing I really like is that ALL the kids are very well behaved and ALL the parents are very friendly and involved (attending kids birthday parties outside of the daycare, annual picnics, cultural potluck day, multiple field trips each year etc…).
I have never once seen the kids out of control, running around, and making lot’s of noise (seen this so many times at other daycare places). Katie and her staff maintain a great balance of fun, learning, and discipline.
I can’t say enough great things about Smiling faces…

Every parent wants the best for their child, and enrolling them in Smiling Faces is the best thing for them! My daughter LOVED going to Smiling Faces and LOVES Ms. Katie!
I knew that Ms. Katie and her staff always did their best for the children. I was always happy to drop my daughter off knowing that she is happy. They give the best care and love as if all the children were their own.
Academically and socially, you see the children blossom. Everyone is family!
I tell all my friends and family who have small children to get on the waiting list– because it is long! But the wait is definitely worth it.

Wow, I really can’t say enough great things about Smiling Faces, Ms. Katie and her staff are amazing. My daughter started there three years ago when she was 2 ½ and just graduated this past summer. While she was there I always knew she was in excellent hands, I never worried. Ms. Katie and her staff were always so caring and professional and very attuned to each child’s individual needs and habits.
Not only did they help to foster my daughter’s social growth but her academic growth as well. I knew this while she was a student there but now that she is in kindergarten I am really noticing how well she is adjusting academically and socially. This is due on a large part to the foundation that Smiling Faces established for her.
I hope to recommend Smiling Faces to any parent looking for an excellent preschool, and I plan on having my youngest daughter attend there as well she is old enough!

Enrolling my son into Smiling Faces was THE BEST decision our family could have made! Leaving your child with anyone other than family can be nerve racking. But from day 1 and on, I was reassured my son was in good hands when I received constant text messages and pictures assuring me that he was doing just fine. He grew to love Smiling Faces over a short time, and so did we! Ms. Katie and Ms. Justynne along with the SF friends have become our FAMILY! Not only are they amazing teachers but they are such wonderful women who have a true passion for what they do — teach, nurture, guide, love, etc.
Ms. Katie and her team made sure the children were always engaged with various learning activites including book mobile visits, field trips to the library, guest speakers, visits from the police dept or fire dept… And even better, families were always given the option to be involved. We truly were one big FAMILY at Smiling Faces.
My son has grown tremendously since the time he was enrolled into SF — socially, academically, and more. Now that he’s in kinder, he was confident, outspoken, advanced among his peers, and had no issues with the transition to full day Kinder. And this is THANKS to Smiling Faces! I can’t say enough about this preschool/​day care who is perfectly lead by Ms. Katie!!! Put your child on the waiting list now! It’s worth the wait! =)

In the past four years that we’ve known Ms. Katie and Smiling Faces, this home daycare/​preschool has become like an extended family to us. This stems from Ms. Katie’s unique perspective on teaching. She not only cares about the children, which is evident in her daily interactions, but she also connects with parents and has great assistants, which all help to create strong bonds.
There is no doubt that Ms. Katie is committed to teaching academics, but what I love is that there is a healthy balance of play and exploration as well. The children are encouraged to use their imagination, play make-​believe, help make their own playdoh etc. And they keep things interesting with daily walks (if weather permits), trips to the park, book mobile, water play in the summer etc. When Ms. Katie found out that my husband flew model airplanes, she asked him to bring them in for a show and tell. They all went to the park and took turns flying the planes. It was as much fun for my husband as it was for the children. This is just an example of how Ms. Katie & her team are more than just teachers in a classroom, they really take every opportunity to teach children about life.
My daughter attended the school from age 2 – 5 and we are fortunate that my son (age 18 months) will be starting in the fall. I’m so happy that my son will have the same fundamental teachings that my daughter had.

Day care and pre school rolled into one! My daughter goes to this Day Care and is learning so much daily. To see her unfold before my eyes and coming home with new things that she has learned, from the basic ABCs and 123s to who our president is and where he lives, to counting in different languages, to me is just far more than AMAZING!!!
They get the Book Mobile to come to the day care. They get the Police and Firemen come to show their cars and trucks and talk to the children about their job.
Unfortunate for those who are on the wait list. They just have to be patiently awaiting openings for them. Because people from far come to enroll off their kids at Smiling Faces day care because of word by mouth from previous students’ parents.
I can guarantee you that this is a safe, fun and loving haven for your children. Ms. Katie and her staff takes great care of the children!

Finally a chance to tell everyone about the best day care/​preschool. Take it from someone with four kids; three who have attended Smiling Faces. If you don’t want to worry during the day while you are at work that your child is being well taken of and receiving a great start to their education this is the place. Amazing staff this run by Ms. Katie. Ms. Katie is more than an owner operator. She is one of those special people who really understands kids and what they need. My suggestion is get on the waiting list as soon as you are expecting cause the line is long but worth it. This is someone you can trust with the most important parts of your life; your children.
