Bought a variety of pastries here. My wife says that competition like 85 Degrees in Milpitas have forced this place to step up their game. I enjoyed the Hot Dog stuff and even a Ham and Mushroom Pastry! Brisk service but from an Asian source. In and out in a jiff!

Not the freshest or best quality for the Sheng Kee name. Everything seems a bit dry and stale here.

I so want to like this SK location… it’s convenient, it’s affordable, but the baked goods are so… blah. One of the classic sweet rolls with sweet/coconut filling was a filling that was purely sweet, no other character and not much texture. The taro bun obviously isn’t going to be the best, but it was a couple of levels below where i expected. Sheng Kee is often quite decent. This one was a bit of a disappointment.

I ordered a birthday cake the day before the event and it was HEAVENLY! We ordered a vanilla sponge cake with vanilla buttercream and it was DIVINE! My family and I can care less for extremely sweet cake. It has a very light flavor. Very fluffy. Just wonderful. I will mos def order my next cake here!

I usually buy bread from here. Very very soft and variety bread are available. One of my favorite is Red bean bread which includes red bean inside and outside are pretty good bread. We can keep it for few days.

As someone who has only recently gotten into pastries, I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot of quality time I could’ve had with Sheng Kee Bakery. Even though it’s a bakery relatively close to where I grew up, I rarely ever stopped by. Now, since I only ever come back to Union City visiting family now(normally live in the UK) Sheng Kee will be one of my most missed places. ~ Atmosphere: Like most Sheng Kees, this place is tiny with shelves of different pastry. It’s tiny and cramped, but I’ve rarely ever seen too many people in here so it doesn’t get too claustrophobic thankfully. Also, prepare yourself for the luscious smell wafting through the air; there’s nothing like the scent of freshly baked Asian pastries! ~ Food: They always have plenty of variety on offer and keep up with stock well. I’m addicted to their Pineapple Buns(Bo Luo Bao). Also, it doesn’t really matter whether you’re a sweet or savoury person because their goodies encompass both preferences. But seriously though… try their Pineapple Buns, I can’t imagine anyone disliking them! — There’s very little to hate about Sheng Kee if you’re even remotely a fan of baked goods. Normally at supermarkets, I skip entirely over the bread section so I’ve never though that I’d turn into a Sheng Kee fan. And best of all? I would say the prices are really fair for what you get unlike certain places such as 85 C Bakery(way overpriced).

As the closest bakery to my home, I had been a(reluctantly loyal) customer of this particular Sheng Kee for years. I used to be extremely biased towards only patronizing Cantonese bakeries(I know, I know shame on me) because of my own cultural background and my personal belief that only those bakeries could make Guang Dong/Hong Kong pastries the best. In recent years though, I think Sheng Kee has improved drastically and is quite competitive – if not better in some aspects – with all the other Cantonese bakeries I’ve adored growing up. I usually buy boxes of pastries to take home and share with my family. My favorites: Cocktail bun, bbq pork bun, almond croissant, blueberry pastry, sweet bread, etc. The fruit cake is great for parties and small gatherings.

When you walk in, you grab a tray and tongs and then get to business stacking the pastries of your choice onto the tray. It’s wall to wall sweet and savory pastries baked fresh and constantly replenished. They sell loaves of taro bread, moon pies, toasts, croissants(chocolate, almond, pineapple, green tea, you name it) And everything is about 2 bucks a pop. There’s a refrigerated section with cake slices, sandwiches, refrigerated desserts like tiramisu and fruit tarts, and they sell whole cakes as well. If there was an apocalypse, this is where I would hide out.

always a thumbs up here!!! AND, they have BOBAMILKTEA now! As far as the serve-yourself or as I call«treat yoself» section, you honestly can’t go wrong with anything they offer. Some of my favorites are the taro bread, the curry beef horn, the corn and cheese pastry, the egg custards, the mocha cake, the green tea cake… I might just list everything they offer. Seriously cannot go wrong. And let me just say, if you have a birthday or any special occasion that might require cake, get it here! Their cakes are super delicious especially the mango one!

I love the pastries here! Everything is made fresh and the bread is so yummy. My family only buys loafs of bread from here. Even though it costs a little bit more than thin airy bread you get at costco, we always pay the extra price to get the bread here. It’s pretty thick and filling and is just delicious. It doesn’t feel like eating cardboard as sold by other brands. Their cheese rolls, raisin buns, and snacks are so good especially when they’re nice and toasty. I like how it’s located in the corner of this plaza since it’s easy to find and it just feels cute when you walk inside. I have not been to 85-Degree Bakery, but this is located only a few blocks from my place so I’ll continue to go here for bread. Keep up the good work!

Still one of my favorite Asian bakeries :) I know everyone raves about 85-degrees bakery… but I can’t help but keep my loyalty to Sheng Kee! I love me my delicious carbs… and bread… and Sheng Kee definitely always hits the spot! There’s a location up in Berkeley, which would have been VERY dangerous for me while I was a student at Cal… but my family and I come to this location all the time. :) This location is part of a plaza next to Daiso, Marina Seafood, and Mayflower – so it can get ridiculously crowded come lunchtime during the weekends… so be prepared to park very far from the lot or wait a while for a spot. The bakery is a nice small size but still have a lot of great selections of pastries, desserts, and bread. I always stock up on my red bean buns, thick Taiwanese bread loafs, and egg custards! If you’re looking for a nice birthday cake, Sheng Kee also does custom cakes and they’re very tasty – and beautiful! Remember to call in advance if you want a custom cake for a special occasion.

I’ve visited almost a dozen, YES, almost a dozen Sheng Kee Bakery locations in the Bay Area. Not sure if Southern Cali has any, but I didn’t see any when I was there. Each one varies in size and selection of items. The ones in The City offer the best selection. Some even have dine in tables so you can get your yummy pastries and eat it right then and there! This is pretty much a suburban location, and it doesn’t have any dine in. Carry out only. They do offer Milk Tea. If you want the freshest product, come around 30 mins or so after they initially open and you’ll get first dibs on the items they bring out from the back. The Moon Cakes are expensive compared to what they have at the Marina Market in the same shopping center just steps away. So many customers ignore their Moon Cakes, unless they really want the flavors not available at the Marina Market. I’ve tried almost all their items, save the sandwiches. There is only one item that I won’t try again and that is their mousse cakes. I’d rather try their Tiramisu, which is pretty decent, but not one of the best I’ve tried elsewhere. A lot of products you’d get at your local Asian Supermarket are supplied by Sheng Kee Bakery. Try their Almond Canaan and Almond Croissant. It’s delicious. I love having Almond Slivers with my morning tea or coffee. Yummy!(:

Tiny bakery with little space to move around and it gets crowded fast. Only one cash register so people lining up to pay may interfere with others choosing their breads(yes, it’s THAT tiny). I got the ham and cheese, cheese hotdog and coffee sponge roll. The bread was stiff and cold for both breads. The hotdog tasted weird and was too salty. The sponge roll was dry although coffee flavor was rich. Overall, not a good experience. Affordable prices at under $ 4 total for all 3 items. However, I probably won’t be returning to this location again because quality beats price for me. This place needs serious improvement.

My sister-in-law ordered a customized cake for the niece’s seventh birthday party, and the cake was perfect! Chocolate with strawberries in the filling. Not too sweet, and the icing was light and on point. The ENTIRE cake was consumed in ONE day(no leftovers) — that’s how good it was! And, the cake was beautifully decorated with Disney princesses for my niece :)

Awesome Chinese pastries. I love the taro, the char shu pork bun, the Asian toast with condensed milk, the shreeded pork fluff, and they’re all about $ 1.50 — 2, good prices! $ 10 credit card min

Don’t go too early. Told me I’d have to wait another hour for some bao. That’s just nonsense! Some of us have things to do… sorry. This is a bakery, not a restaurant. Prepare it before you open.

This is an OK Chinese bakery located in the El Mercado shopping center. I judge a bakery by their pineapple buns, and to be honest I was not that thrilled about the pineapple bun here. For one, I didn’t see any of these buns that had zero filling. The one I thought was the regular one actually had a lot of custard inside, and I think it made me feel a little sick after eating it. The bun was also in a cupcake paper which is really weird — I have never seen pineapple buns with a cupcake paper. The sun biscuits however are good. They have the right consistency and the filling is good. By its nature they are very flaky so just beware when you eat them. Each biscuit is $ 0.99 Credit card minimum is $ 10 so unless you plan on buying a lot of pastries, be prepared to bring cash.
