Ed to the rescue yet again!!! I was just about to give up on my frigidaire washer and he can in and replace latch and the striker, and like magic, it started working like normal again! Also, he was able to give my garbage disposal a 2^nd life as well! Thanks again Ed!!!

I left a 1 star review back in 2013. Unilocal is for for honest review of a service and that’s what I did. The business owner harassed me after the review which I ignored. Now in 2016 I woke up to another harassment for a review from 2013. The owner is obsessed with the reviews on Unilocal rather than focusing on pure customer service. So he gets another one star review in 2016.

Even after 3 years later, I still call Edgar and refer all my friends and family in this area to him. WHY? He responds quickly, gets to your house usually that day or the next, fixes just about anything in your house and charges you very reasonably. And he’s so Nice! I had 2 major pieces of appliances go down in my house within 2 weeks. The furnace and the fridge! Very pricey appliances, but his repair services were reasonable and quick. Call HIM!

Ed was able to accommodate our schedules very well. He came and worked diligently and went the extra mile to make sure that we had a perfectly working fridge. He got the parts he needed quickly and came back to fix our fridge within days.
He was very professional, even offering his business card upon being greeted at the door. Would highly recommend!

Edgar is reliable, fair and trustworthy. I’ve called him on a few occasions for my washer and refrigerator. He’s the only repair man I would ever trust in my house by himself. He conveniently works after works and is super accommodating. Don’t hesitate — call him if you need help with your appliances!

Edgar was awesome today. We were having issues with our Maytag top loading washer. I called Edgar around 11:15am, and he showed up by 12:30. He knew exactly what to do, and he charged a fair price for the labor. Will definitely call him again for any future service.

Edgar is very professional and charges a reasonable price. I needed help fixing my washing machine where the rubber boot (the round rubber «o-​ring» sealing the door and the washer) needs to be replaced. He assess the problem without any hyperbole and upsell tactics like the other guys.
As the name suggest, he’s conveniently available after work hours which is more convenient to working people. I’m glad to have worked with him and would recommend anyone to call him first before calling any «big» business appliance repair guys.

Although my tower fan that I brought to him was not worth fixing Edgar still gets 5 stars and will be contacted if I need an appliance repaired in the future.
He responded quickly when I contacted him by text and his hours are awesome since I’m too busy to come in during regular business hours. Edgar gave me an honest assessment of my problem. Not worth fixing, better to just get a new one. He even disposed of my fan for me no charge.

My oven broke down few weeks back and Edgar came to the rescue. He tried to replace few parts but it still didn’t work. He took down details of the make, model number did his homework and came back couple of days back with the solution. He is thorough with his ways of going about with things and comes well prepared.

Edgar is the best. I chose him after reading the reviews, and I can now add mine. I called him Wednesday evening and left a message. He called back within 20 minutes… even though he was in the middle of urgent family business. I told him that my broken washing machine can wait! But Edgar went out of his way to call me back to let me know he got the message and would come by next day. So that was last night, he shows up, dressed impeccably clean, gig line straight as can be. Edgar is with my washing machine not 3 minutes when I hear the dang thing running! He figured out what was wrong, could make it work again but showed us the part that had burnt out on the switch and recommended we change it or we’d probably be calling him back again for same thing. (It had completely died in the middle of washing load of towels, tried every thing to get back up and running with no luck. We knew something burnt out but didn’t know what.)
When you call Edgar, make sure you have your model number (s) ready, because he comes prepared. Saves you money and time. This guy knows his appliances, new and old alike.
He charged me $ 30 for the part and $ 80 for the assessment/​labor. I’m extremely happy with his service and his hours are awesome for us. Prices are very reasonable, how can I complain? He just saved me from taking 4 loads of laundry to the laundromat and having to buy a new washing machine!

Wow. Edgar really went out of his way this past holiday weekend. Our Whirlpool Calypso was dead. Electric board shot, out of «print» no parts were to be had, nothing to be done. But Edgar said he might have an old board he’d hung on to in his truck, so he’d look for it and perhaps he could get us up and running. After pricing machines I’d really hoped that he could, indeed, save the day until we could manage a new one.
He was crazy busy all weekend, and squeezed us in late in his evenings. He must have been exhausted, but he kept us informed and sure enough, he came last night as promisesd. The part didn’t look exactly the same, but it hooked right in and we have a working appliance! Really, this guy is a tireless hero. It’s been awhile since I’ve found service like this.
You’d be smart to give him a call when your ish breaks. Just saying. ;)

Edgar is great. He fixed a problem with my dryer a few years ago and I found his card in my «keeper» pile. When I heard a horrific sound coming from my washer I panicked and called him. We talked on the phone several times, he went on line to investigate possible issues, and he even offered to listen to a recording of it! I decided to run another load so I could record it. He followed up with me the next day. But, of course, the sound never repeated. He spent a lot of time with me and I really appreciated his professionalism and helpfulness. I will always use Edgar as my appliance repair doctor! Thanks Ed :-)

I found out about Ed on Unilocal and thank you Unilocalers for helping me find the best guy there is for the job. Ed is very courteous, very reliable, very friendly and most importantly, knows his job. One of his biggest plus points is that he is available to come for repairs at any time, especially after office hours. I find that to be most useful because with that I don’t need to leave work and be at home during day time for the repair technicians. Also, he is great at following up after his work.
All in all, a great guy. I feel all these big appliance agencies and companies like Sears, Home Depots, Lowes etc. need to take a few lessons from this guy on customer service.
And last but not the least, a great guy to talk to. After work gets done, we sit and chat with each other — he’s that friendly. I’d say he’s no longer a repair technician — he’s my friend now. :)

Edgar was AWESOME! Very professional and courteous. He came to inspect our washing machine and figured out was wrong. Ordered the part and came back in 2days. Didn’t have to call him to update on the status because he’ll keep you posted. Now our washing machine is ready to be overused again! We’ll definitely keep his number for other future repairs.

We had an problem with our Gas stove not working properly. The power burner had a very low flame.
Based on Unilocal feedback, we contacted Ed to come and fix the problem. He was very prompt and said that let us try basic cleaning alternatives first before opening things up and replacing anything. He definitely knew what he was doing. He did a good cleanup of the sealed burner with a special tool and that seemed to resolve the problem. The cost was also very reasonable. Very happy with the service. Would highly recommend this business to others.

Edgar started doing diagnostics on my non-​spinning washer, we discussed a possible issue with the Control Board or Motor Board. The Control Board part is no longer available to order parts; the only way is to remove the unit and send it back to the manufacturer for them to make a new one ($ 200). As we were talking about the possible solutions, he had a cycle going to see if the same thing would happen again. He opened the front panel made sure all the wires are where they should be. It worked fine. He left me the washer’s spec and itemized catalog of parts, if there are any problems to give him a call.
My toilet keep running water all the time, and water is accumulating around the base of the toilet, he claims he’s not a plumber and but he’ll take a look at it. The flapper was the culprit, he removed it (and since there was a toilet bowl I’ve been meaning to take to the dump was still there and there was a spare part to scavenge from it) replaced it with a spare. Problem fixed.
I would recommend Mr. Tapia for my next appliance issue.

I don’t usually write reviews but since Edgar was so sincere and helpful, I wanted to write one review here.
He came into our new house in Oakland all the way from Union City, and he said he doesn’t usually come to Oakland area but he offered so. His service hours after business hours is very precious for me and my partner because we both work full time. After a brief phone call with me, Edgar decided to take a look at our dryer.
After checking the parts, he found that the dryer itself is not the problem — he found that there was a separate valve of gas line for the dryer and he has to open it. And obviously one of the contractors we hired for the house before we moved in shut off that valve only assigned for the dryer — who knew? Of course I thought the dryer itself was the problem.
Edgar even demonstrated to me how to check if the gas is coming to the pipe which the dryer is connected by blowing into the pipe with his mouth. And he even offered to go into the dirty dusty space under the house to see if he can locate the valve. Although this attempt was not successful, I could see his sincerity and passion for his job.
I really appreciate his help and I wish there were more people offering service like Edgar. He’s a good guy.

Our washing machine broke and wouldn’t drain after a large load this weekend. We were prepared to buy a new one, but I thought we should give repairing it a chance. Found Edgar on Unilocal and left a message, heard back right away. He was able to come check out our washer the same day that he called.
He charges $ 40 for the initial consultation, which is applied towards the repair if you decide to go through it. Since he had the part needed with him when he came over, we asked him to go ahead and fix it and he finished the repair in around half an hour. Total bill was $ 120 which I thought was totally worth it, much better than buying a new washing machine.
Highly recommend this business for anyone looking for appliance repairs in the area!

Found Ed on Unilocal and called Left a VM. Got a response same day and he was home the same day evening for diagnosis of the Whirlpool Washer that was not working. He came by and fixed the washer the same day and recommended replacing of the rubber around the door. He offered to get the parts and install to which I did not have any issues. He got the parts and installed them two days later. It has been over a month now and the washer still runs just fine without any issue.
