Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner

This hotel is showing signs of decline, worn, it’s at a tipping point, it will either continue its decline or management will make improvements. I signed up for the code Green program and was to receive a $ 5.00 coupon each day of my stay, I never received them and asked at the desk twice, still nothing, so at check out, I asked to have my bill credited, could not do that, but then gave me my coupons.

So! I stayed here this past Thursday — Friday. Let’s just say that the front desk staff wasn’t so friendly. The guys were really rude and short to begin with. I heard 4 different stories about parking, and they were also very inconsiderate with the nosy simplest things. The TV was broken, the latch on the door was broken, and last but not least, as I decided to take a shower and just check out the next day, I noticed blood stains on my towel. I called down and was on hold for a very long time. I went down and the guy never showed any empathy but asked «well what do you want me to do?» In a very condescending tone. The guy came look at the tv and said oh it’s broken. but didn’t bother to change my room or replace it. They also came to replace towels eventually, but they were all large towels. Then, there were a group of kids there slamming doors all night and making noise all morning. I know the last part wasn’t the hotels fault but it didn’t help. As I checked out I spoke with someone that was labeled a superior and she said she’d talk to the two guys. I would never stay here again. I’m here for an interview and I’m hoping that I can use this story as to everything I WOULD NOT LIKE to bring to the company.

They only get 2 stars for their location right off the highway, close proximity to the subway/​metro, and there conference/​ballrooms that are decently sized.
In my opinion a hotel has one job. Provide a CLEAN and safe environment for people who are away from home. In providing that Clean environment the beds should be cleaned were I shouldn’t be able to see dirt and grim with the naked eye.
I completely understand that hotels don’t clean the top comforter which is why I never use it and toss it on the floor. They had a thick sheet and a thinner sheet underneath. The thicker one was the one in the picture that I have posted. There was definitely some kind of mold or dirt inside the sheet as you held it up to a light.
I didn’t really have a choice but to stay for the night because of what I was doing that day but this is the 2^nd time in a month that I have stayed in a Sheraton Hotel. This is yet another reason why the Sheraton is at the bottom of the high end hotels. I personally will not ever stay in one again. The prices they charge for these hotel are outrageous for these endless shrinking size rooms.

Update — was contacted by the hotel AGM promptly after my departure and he handled the situation very professionally so I’ve given 2 stars back. Thank you very much for your professionalism after the fact.

Deservedly a 5 star review, customer service is superb. Called the front desk and asked for a hairdryer, was not sure if the room comes equipped with it or not. They sent me one within 5 minutes and I could swear they just got it, probably of Walmart.
The staff went out of their way to accommodate me.
First time I try their pool, decent size, clean and warm waters, I did my laps alone around 6:00 pm, such a relaxing feeling. Their gym is of great size as well which was pretty surprising.

Room is c plus at best. Not enough plugs, pillows are crap, no hot water in morning. Internet connection is spotty. Desk clerks are horrendous. Meeting area was too hot

Great weekend stay. Hotel is clean but a bit outdated. Location is perfect for shopping and eating. Hotel shuttle was very convenient. The indoor pool is very nice. The view from the 22^nd floor facing pool has a beautiful sunrise.

The customer service here is stellar! From the second we arrived, we were taken care of! We got a sunset lovers package and there was a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room along with a note from the staff. Very nice touch! You could also tell that the strawberries were fresh and dipped by hand — so yummy! We were upgraded to a club king so the room was a little bigger which was very nice. Since we were on the top floor, we were able to use the club lounge too.
There was a spectacular view from the room too. We had dinner at Brix and Ale downstairs (the steaks were amazing… I hear there is a new chef) and we had a movie credit so we watched something after dinner. In the morning we had a yummy breakfast that was delivered directly to the room.
It was AMAZING to be able to relax and recharge in such a beautiful setting. I will definitely be booking another staycation in the near future.

This hotel smells, and terribly. There is definitely a clash of cultural scents going on. It smells as if 19 different incense scents were lit at the same time, only it includes body odor, lack-​of-​shower, baby diaper, and taco. This place is like a big bag of Jelly Belly joke flavors and you got the vomit flavor.
I’m all about cultural diversity, but that doesn’t mean I want to smell it. I could not find a single attendant that did not smell like they just finished their lunch of heavy curry or weird-​pineapple. It’s equivalent to smelling alcohol on someone’s breath… Whhhhy???
Every time I’ve entered the hotel there are typically 10 – 20 people congregated right in the lobby. I only speak English, so I wait patiently for any attendant to get done having their long lost reunion with the group and acknowledge the ethic mutt in the room.
You’re the same ethnic background, I get it. Not the only customers in the hotel bro. Oh, wait, yes they are here and they’ve done a great job of making sure you know you don’t fit it.

On the face of it, this is a nice hotel for the money. Reasonably priced, decent rooms, clean, nice sized gym, etc. Would probably be 4 stars but the gym was stifling, to the point everyone is sweating all over the place. How hard could it be to keep it cool in there while 5 people run inches from one another on treadmills. Turn the air on or at least get some fans in there for some air circulation. I was actually quite impressed by the size of the gym and the decent amount of equipment and weights in there… more than almost any other non-​vacation hotel I think I’ve ever seen.
The room was fine, but like the gym, it seemed to be too warm, then too cold, but not ever «just right.» Couldn’t seem to dial it in.
The location is fine, albeit kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere if you’re looking to get outside to do a run. Nice having a Walmart next door for snack binges.

When checking in, we were given one of the worst room in the hotel. We inquired about a room in a higher floor, the answer was it depends, then it was we have 4000 people group coming. We were not given a chance to upgrade or anything. The staff sounded nice and sincere. A friend goes a couple hours later to reserve and for sure there were availability.
Our room was right next to a party room. The first room in the entrance. We could not sleep until like 5 am. The room was run down, the wholeway was dark and musky, almost felt like I was in motel 7 not a Sheraton. It seems that Sheraton is no longer keeping up with their brand.
Sure lobby was nice and indoor pool, but that does not really count when the room is crapy, and the staff clearly lied to us.

I came here for Image Skincare seminar. It is held here about once a month for Estheticians. There is parking out front that is free which helps since I would not pay here. The conference room is on M floor and easy to find. It was a decent size room for probably at least 50 people. They provided water with glasses. They hand little bowls of small candies but not sure if image of the hotel provided.

The Good:
GREAT location, so convenient to the train, shopping, and highway to my job :)
The rooms are really decent sized, nice comfortable beds,
Clean hotel throughout, and the rooms as well.
Club24 — you have to be a platinum member for this, so if you are, you will love this. 24 hour lounge stocked with sodas, juices, waters, fruits, and snacks! What more can you ask for
The best part was the staff. EVERYONE is super-​friendly and always willing to help. My key stopped working (because if you put it close to ur phone, it messes up the card, as does every hotel), and the staff came running up with a key within seconds!
Two staff I’d like to recognize in particular are:
Melissa Spedden, who went above and beyond out of her way to make sure I was happy. She followed-​up several times with me, and she accommodated me when it was needed. She helped out my colleagues as well, and both my colleague and I are happy to say we will forever stay at this Sheraton when we are on a project here. She’s really on-​point with everything, and is always willing to help to make things better.
Marina — she was always helpful, and friendly. Every time I needed anything, I would let her know, and she would execute. Superb service!
Both definitely go above and beyond the call of duty. Not saying others didn’t but these are the two i dealt with most.
The bad: I didn’t get to stay here long enough! :(

First, the positives. The location of this Sheraton is the best! It is within walking distance from a strip mall with lots of restaurants and a Walmart. (also some medical offices, in case you need those) I stayed a weekend at the Sheraton for a convention and never needed to drive out anywhere, simply because of the variety of restaurants available nearby. I thought service was good too. The front desk staff were helpful and made good conversation. Housekeeping was nice too and worked on the room quickly in the periods of time when we were down in the lobby for the convention.
Hotel WiFi internet was pretty good and didn’t slow down or run out of IP addresses as more attendees arrived. However, I couldn’t access it from down in the lobby and lower lobby areas. Apparently, the hotel rooms WiFi and the conference WiFi are different systems and I didn’t have a password for the latter.
Where the hotel comes up short is in maintenance. Air conditioning seemed rather weak. With the outside temperature hovering at 90°F that weekend and with a lobby full of attendees, it got a bit warm there, especially for those who were in costume. I heard that the hotel actually cranked it up to the maximum that weekend but that’s all they got, so it probably needs to be tuned up or replaced with a chiller system with higher tons.
The hotel elevators had some problems too. On the first night, the middle elevator didn’t work. The elevator buttons on the lobby level didn’t light up so we couldn’t tell if someone had already pressed those. Also, on the 11^th floor, the button panel was loose and basically held in place only by its wires, which is probably not the best thing. Aside from those issues though, the elevators seemed pretty fast and the voice announcing the floor and elevator direction was useful.
The layout of the hotel was weird. I never did find the stairs to the lower lobby, except for the circular stairs by the pool. Also, if you park by the wrong entrance, you’ll have to take your luggage cart down or up a half-​flight of steps. I didn’t find out if it was possible to go the long way around indoors to get there without steps. Again, strange layout.

I stayed here for an event recently, and my experience was a bit of a mixed bag, to tell the truth. The location is great, the nearby shopping plaza is a huge bonus, and the hotel staff are wonderful. Let’s start with the upsides to my stay:
As said earlier, the staff here are fantastic — incredibly nice folks who are generally cheerful, eager to help, and super friendly. Check-​in is a breeze, and they’ll even help you find your room if you (like me) have a hard time navigating the maze-​like structure. The hotel bar is pretty great, with almost entirely craft and local beers on tap — something I very much appreciate. Prices aren’t too bad for drinks — standard hotel pricing applies.
The restaurant, «Brix and Ale» was also a nice surprise — cooking my burger to my exact request (rare as you can get) while still making it tasty, once again, standard hotel pricing here, with the burger clocking in at around $ 11 I believe. They offered a dinner buffet during our event, although at $ 16 for spaghetti and meatballs I think it was a little overpriced, so I skipped it. The breakfast buffet was $ 15 and had a good number of options, including some middle eastern dishes that were downright tasty. The beds were pretty comfy in the rooms, and they honored my request for a room on a low floor, which I greatly appreciated.
The downsides of my stay? For one, the heat. I don’t know if it was the gigantic dome without shades in the lobby, or that the engineers were being cheap with the A/​C units, but it was a fairly consistent 72+ in the hotel at any given time, and humid. Given there was a good number of people staying for this event, and the fact that it was ~90 degrees out, you’d think they would have the AC’s cranked. This was also a problem in the room, and my first night’s sleep here I ended up sweating on top of the sheets in a room that *had* to be in the upper 70’s and sauna-​like. This was fixed by the next night, thankfully — although I think they ‘fixed’ it by making the lobby even warmer, so… small victories, I suppose?
Another issue (and one that unfortunately can’t really be fixed), is that this place is kind of a maze to navigate. Convention space is on the 1^st floor /​lower lobby, and can only be accessed by a slightly hidden staircase or the elevators. My room on the ‘second’ floor was adjacent to the lobby, leading to more confusion as to the numbering system here. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, this place is in dire need of a refurb. My room was a bit worse for the wear, with carpets that were stained in several places from who-​knows-​what, bathroom grout that was kinda old, and a bathroom door that had maybe a half inch clearance to the toilet, making it incredibly awkward to get into the shower. The entire time, there was a bit of a musty smell in the room, and the whole place felt more like an Econo-​Lodge than a Sheraton. Time for a remodel, guys.
Not really the worst hotel I’ve been at, and honestly it’s more like a 2.5 than a 2, but seriously needs better /​working air conditioning, as well as a remodel of the rooms. Oh, and if you’re not staying for an event, it’s apparently $ 6 a night to park your car in a creepy and dimly lit garage. Yikes.

The Sheraton is a beautiful hotel visually, and the hotel’s location can’t be beat. It’s next to the Metro, situated near a shopping center chock full of local eateries and restaurants and not even a two minute walk from a 24 hour Walmart!
The hotel’s design is nice, with ample parking provided through an underground garage and a spacious front lobby so you can pull up and unload unhindered.
Room wise, the hotel was… mixed (and not for the better). We went through three different rooms before finding one which was passable.
Room #1: Reeked of cigarette smoke (despite being a non-​smoking room). It was so heavy in the airs it stung you eyes the moment you walked in. Hotel said there was nothing they could do, they they put a «machine» in to fix it and it was «Fine». We asked to be transferred to another room and was told no other rooms were available. After mentioning the room was triggering asthma issues… suddenly they had new rooms to put is in.
Room #2: Broken air conditioner. The room was constantly 80+ in the room, and sometimes upwards of 90 in the evening. Not to mention humid, humid, hmudi. At some point, the room started leaking with multiple puddles forming on the ceiling and wall. The hotel sent a technician to «fix» the room. His fix? He took a wet vac to the floor and said the leak was fixed.
Room #3: The third room was passable. AC worked, though the room was definitely worse for the wear from general wear and tear (wallpaper was peeling, remote didn’t work, furniture was wobbly). Disappointing, but I was at least finally able to get a reasonable night’s sleep.
The beds were comfortable, the pillows nice and the general amenities provided by the hotel weren’t too bad. But due to the cooling and the leaking issues none of us were able to really good a good night’s sleep (sort of the point of a hotel). The hotel decided to comp us by refunding our our room service. After some pressure since we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep they eventually refunded the room completely, but they seemed reluctant to do anything to compensate for rooms with water damage.
It’s in need of a bit of upkeep. The heat/​cooling problem with our room seemed to extend to other areas of the hotel space as the convention/​meeting rooms had several fans blowing in the area to try to increase air flow.
Mixed bag. I think if they can get the cooling problem fixed and it’d definitely get another star.
Oh, and the Brix and Ale pub? Fantastic. Really great food, REALLY good service (Rigat, our server, was AMAZING!).
NOTE: Everything in all of our rooms was dirty, dirty, dirty. Look at the my picture of the AC control to get a quick glimpse. It was unfortunately rather bad.

My first visit was a 4-​star – staff was wonderful and my room was amazing. Second stay was for a snow emergency (I work nearby) and while staff was still wonderful, my room was not quite as great as it was the first time. It had coffee, but no cups provided *just* for the coffee, as was the case the first time… the complimentary toiletries in the room the first night were not there this time – it felt like someone half-​assed the room prep.
Also found a hair in the bed (very long and dark, not mine) and was unable to connect to the wifi. Neighbor was also very loud, something I didn’t have to deal with the visit before.
The location is great, I would not hesitate to stay there again, I suspect they were having staffing issues from the snowstorm and therefore unable to put as much care as they would have otherwise into the room prep.

They get a 4^th star for being 1 – 2 blocks from the Spring Hill Metro Station, and next door to a Walmart and cluster of restaurants. Easy walk right across a street that’s more like a driveway. If you don’t have a car this means you can actually eat and shop, and even go into the city and find some real entertainment or sight-​seeing.
Reading some of these reviews makes me laugh. This is actually a pretty nice hotel. I literally laughed out loud when someone complained about it being $ 150 per night. The crappy MOTEL nearby (Best Western? Comfort Inn?) is over a hundred dollars too! I know because that’s where MY cheap employer had me stay for a week. This hotel is far nicer than that one was and also safer, cleaner, with much quieter rooms, WORKING in-​room temperature controls, HAS ELEVATORS, has a gym, blah blah blah. Hotels out here are expensive. This isn’t Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Free breakfast for SPG upper level guests, and it’s pretty good. Free evening snacks too… enough to make a meal out of, really. Free fast WIFI. Elevators are reasonably quick although with the hotel being 24 stories tall you may have to wait a bit particularly if you’re on a higher floor. No fridge in the room but you can request one. Ours is nice and quiet and works well.

I cannot attest to what it’s like to attend a conference here. I also rarely if ever swim in hotel pools. I peaked in the gym, it has more than the standard number of machines but isn’t phenomenal. I didn’t notice any odd smells in the hallways, lobby, or room. All employees I ran into were pleasant. A bellhop even called out, «Hello! Have a nice night!» to us as he was hauling in someone else’s huge amount of shopping loot. The front desk staff know my boyfriend by name, even if they do mispronounce it.
If you get here when a conference or something is letting out the lobby does turn into a total madhouse, so mentally prepare yourself for that.
The property is older so in some rooms you can plug your phone in bedside and others you cannot but it’s still reasonably close and there are outlets on the desk. You won’t need to crawl around on the floor or anything.

I stayed here for 3 nights during a work conference. This hotel seems better on the surface than it actually is.
LOCATION:
This hotel is in a part of town that I’d almost call a corporate park surrounded by highways. The location is outside of DC, but when I was there, the train going into downtown hadn’t opened yet. I was glad to have a rental car so I didn’t feel stuck but after driving around a bit, the only thing to do nearby was visit the mall or other hotel bar/​restaurants. Traffic can be nuts around there, so going into downtown DC for dinner or drinks was more of a hassle than it was worth.
PARKING:
There is a garage, which I did not have to pay for even though there is a sign that says it is a paid lot. I think they are going to begin charging.
ROOMS:
The room was a nice size for a short stay, and I kind of liked the odd shape (the entire hotel is an octagon). The bed was comfortable enough (the pillows were AMAZING). The view was bland, just other hotels and beige rooftops below. The shower head was also amazing.
HOUSEKEEPING:
Despite asking the front desk for some towels and soap, no one ever visited the room. I was lucky to see the cart in the hall where I grabbed some clean ones myself. I did have the «do not disturb» sign up during the day, but after 2 requests at the front desk, I thought someone would come by. The housekeeping cart was oddly always in the hallway near my room and didn’t appear to move. Maybe I just timed my exits at the right time?
AMENITIES:
I did not use the pool or gym, so I can’t speak to that. The internet access was terribly slow and pretty much unusable. I cannot believe they actually charge people $ 10 a day for it.
HOTEL RESTAURANT:
Meh, it was okay and served its purpose for a last-​minute dinner. A typical middle of the road hotel spot. Separate review to follow on Brix & Ale.

I stayed 3 nights here this past week on a business trip for training.
The Good:
*Location, lots of restaurants/​stores within walking distance
*Internet was fast enough to handle my day to day needs, even managed to hold a skype video conference just fine.
*Comfy beds with plenty of space in the room.
*Great workout room with a whole row of dumbells, which is rare for a hotel.
The Bad:
*The restaurant included in the hotel, Brix and Ale, was very supar, with a few beers on tap. Luckily some of the beers were my favorites.
I*f you want breakfast you better be prepared to pay 15 $ for it.
*Internet is 10 $/​day but you can get it free if you are a SPA member and the internet is fast.
We also had a kid pull the fire alarm at 10pm one night and it took them 4 hours to turn it off, the hotel did comp me some extra points for the hassle.
Overall I would stay here again if I was in the area for business.
