The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner

I’m traveling in DC this week for client work, and my team decided to stay at the Ritz in McLean since our corporate rate gave us a great discount. The hotel is connected to the Tyson’s Corner mall, so there are plenty of restaurants not only located within the mall itself, but surrounding the mall as well. You’ll find most of your local chain restaurants within a half mile radius, so don’t worry about looking for a place to eat. The hotel itself has great aesthetic appeal, however, didn’t provide all the benefits I thought for a Marriott Platinum member. Their concierge lounge is an added $ 70 charge for all guests, whether they have status or not, which was a bummer. The amenities are also lacking far compared to other JW’s and full scale Marriott properties I’ve stayed at during my travels. We will be staying at the full scale or JW next week in McLean instead of returning here —

I’ve stayed at this property a lot over the years and it keeps getting better. Consistency of service and quality is very good. Staff are spectacular overall. Room service menu, cook, quality, and consistency are phenomenal. I’d recommend room service over the in house restaurant if you’re hungry and aren’t looking for atmosphere. In my experience, the room service is better prepared, cooked, presented, and better value than the america eats restaurant inside the hotel. So, all around A++++.

I visited the Ritz Tyson’s Corner first time
(1÷9÷16) for my company gala. The service was professional & courteous. The food delicious @ our gala especially the Prime Rib, moist & flavorful. The Crème Fraise
Mashed Potatoes creamy & smooth texture. The turndown service a thoughtful amenity.

One of the worst Ritz I’ve stayed at (charlotte, nc worst). I love the Ritz but the Tyson location is so bla and out dated.

I have no idea why such a nice property has to have such a surly staff. My husband and I called ahead of our reservation to let them know we’d be arriving late (traffic) and we were asked very abruptly, ‘Well, what time ARE you coming’? And then at check in we were treated very coldly. It was really weird, to be honest with you. We are platinum elite Marriott members and so this treatment is not the norm. And then once we got into the actual room, it was adjoined. Which is just kind of rude because you know they could have chosen a standard room for you. The fixtures in the room are older but the room service was awesome– the breakfast delivery was so tasty and timely. I’m torn on whether or not I’ll be returning. The place is pretty great but that service– not friendly and makes me feel less than valued.

This was the most disappointing stay at a Ritz-​Carlton we have ever had. When booking a room at a Ritz-​Carlton you expect to have certain level of customer service that exceeds that of other hotels at a less expensive price point. Once we checked into our room we noticed that the fridge in the room was not working and all items were warm and there were no robes in the room. These two discrepancies alone are nothing to be angry about, but when I called to notify someone about it nothing was done. It would have been nice to feel that they were concerned even though they are minor details.
The icing on the cake was when I received my bill by email a few days later. There was a $ 200 charge to my room that was done in the hotel restaurant that was not ours. My credit card was not even used, but someone provided my room number and charged the food and beverages to our room. I called to complain about the charge but was transferred to another person in which I received their voicemail. Three days go by, no return call. I call the hotel again and explain the situation and I again am transferred to another person and receive their voicemail again. Another four days go by and I finally call back and they put me in touch with the right person. She proceeds to tell me that there was nothing she could do about the charge and to contact my credit card company. My credit card was not even used! After being angered by this, I then brought up the broken fridge and no robes in the room, and they still did not offer any concern for the matter. I will most likely never stay at this hotel again and would recommend saving your money and going across the street to the many hotels in the area.

It is so pretty here! Staff is wonderful and attentive. They are always willing to help out with whatever questions or concerns you may have, and the people helping out at the entrance are very welcoming as well :)

Stayed here the night before my friend’s wedding with her bridal party. I’ve heard how nice, classy, and upscale the Ritz is. Frankly, I am not impressed. I’ve been more impressed at the JW.
Staff — hit or miss. We dialed the dining service and the employee could not understand our questions and requests. We literally repeated the same sentence 4 times, but the staff member was not helpful.
Food — We ordered the Continental & American. The croissants were good but everything else seemed like such a rip off for the $ we were paying. I understand the Ritz is «luxurious», but the food portions don’t have to be so little.
Other — I turned the TV on and why was it it blasting the sound? I turned it off immediately because I didn’t want to disrupt my neighbors.

Very luxurious Hotel, beautiful location in McLean VA. Been here a few times and last time they had live music by the bar/​restaurant. Great ambiance, and amazing staff.
Forgot some clothing, called few days later and they had it, and ready for pick up. I love the service here.
I was not impressed with the parking situation. One shouldn’t pay for parking after paying such amounts for a room. $ 30 Valet and $ 12 self parking.

I really enjoy my staying in ritz Carlitos hotel Tyson corners. The staff are very helpful and lovely especially in the 24^th floor there was a lounge with the best employees in that area. Ms. Shims Chenzaie was very lovely person I feel like I am living in my home taking care about everyone in the lounge. Also she is very polite. I wish to come back to the hotel and see her again.

My first with High Tea Time at the Ritz. I must say I am enjoying it a lot more than I bought I would.

Have a nice travel to Washington DC and live in this five-​star hotel this weekend.
The lobby is at the 4^th floor, the reception is very kindness to my child and give more toys to play and draw.
$ 199 a day is not expensive and the rooms looks a little old and a little small. Bed is more soft, TV channels set not good. only can see no more 10 channels.
The America breakfast is great and service is so nice. I spend more $ 20 a day and give me $ 50 credit back in my rooms, but it only can use at café house and roomservise, can not use this credit at the old Amerian restaurant.
The swimming poor is very small and spa place also small. It closed at 9pm is a little early~
Room service food is good you can get the free flash apple at the lobby.
I will be back next time.

Having the opportunity to regularly travel by air and auto across and occasionally outside the country, not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler — but as a primarily pleasure and needs traveler, I have developed as what I believe is a concise a method for measuring the worthiness of each airport visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score:5]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score:5]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:5]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-​Fi [Score:4]; 5) overall customer service — including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor [Score:5]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe [Score:5]; Taking all the aforementioned categories, I’ve devised a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 4.8. Most positive point (s) at this location are: attractiveness, ambience and emphasis on quality and service.

This review is for the spa only– I have been to Wendy at the Ritz Spa in Tyson’s Corner multiple times. She is fantastic! i have been going to her for Prenatal massages my entire pregnancy.
I attempted to go to a few other spas in the DC area. I was so disappointed with all of them. These spas would either not have a pregnancy pillow (Who can relax while trying to prop themselves up on their side) or the masseuse would barely touch me.
Wendy was wonderful the entire time I went to her starting in my second trimester and going right up to a few days before delivery. I highly recommend her !!!
The locker room/​pool/​relaxing room were all good. The relaxing room could def use some snacks other then apples. The flavored waters are SO good :-)

As a seasoned world traveler, I think I am qualified to distinguish good service, from Stellar service. The Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner has for the past 20 years has never deviated from my definition of «Top of the line, go the last mile» service.
I have had the pleasure of visiting top hotels in, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Dubai, and Cairo to name a few. The Ritz Carlton team in Tysons Corner can give them all a run for their money.
Whether you need first class accommodations, a romantic dinner or cocktails or a 5 star Spa experience it is all here at this property.
Having proximity to the world class shopping at Tysons Galleria makes it a perfect destination.

My favorite members of the Ritz Carlton Staff are Noor Hamad the worlds best lobby ambassador and Kristine Serne a superior concierge. Noor always greets me with her million dollar smile and does her level best to make me feel at home even when I just stop in for a latte!
Kristine is the ‘Go To’ person for all of my special needs including event recommendations or something as simple as mailing a letter.
So whether you are doing high tea, or an incredible meal at «America Eats» José Andrés amazing new tavern, the Ritz Carton Tysons gets top marks from me.

Enjoyed myself at this location. I visited the lounge area (Entyse) for dinner. This section of the hotel has low dim lighting. Pretty romantic even for a date with a special one. :-)
The location has awesome HH deals including different themes on W-​Friday. Where most location end their deals by 6:30 or 7:00pm.
Wed — Wine’d Down Wednesday. Lobster claws and Oysters. Discount on wine from 5:30 — 8:30pm
Thursday — Sushi from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Friday — *Jazz Friday* 8:30pm-12:00am. The best part and deal of them all.
Staff is attentive and display excellent customer service. You will never have to call on or wave down any staff member for service.

Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, the ladies of my family and I go out to afternoon tea here at the Ritz-​Carlton. It is truly a wonderful experience. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating.
Each person orders their own pot of tea, which is placed on a stand with a candle underneath to keep warm. The caramel tea is my favorite out of all of the options, and there are several to choose from. You have a couple of different tea packages to choose from, starting with a standard tea and ranging to a tea package that includes champagne and strawberries. I typically order the Indulgence Tea, which includes a glass of orange Muscat wine. Yum!
Each person receives a plate of delicious little sandwiches. My favorite is the English cucumber sandwich. Everyone also shares a tower of sweets that include things like chocolate covered strawberries and scones. It’s definitely my favorite part.
This is definitely quite an experience and one that we really enjoy. I am already looking forward to next year!

The dining room is very nice — dark wood, modern furnishings, lovely fireplace, etc. We were seated right away and our server, Irina, could not have been any better, which contributed to the high-​end feel of the tea, along with the soothing piano playing.
They have a good selection of teas (loose teas, for those of you who care). I opted for the caramel tea which had a faint caramel smell and had a hint of the flavor. It was fantastic without any additions, so I kept it that way. I liked that the teapots were placed over heaters so our tea was always warm. I know in other places, you’re simply presented with another pot of hot water to warm your tea, so this was nice and easy. The accompanying champagne was also tasty.
Now to the food: Let me preface this by saying that I ate a TON of sweets on Valentine’s Day. Bad idea on my part. Don’t do that the day before you go to afternoon tea at The Ritz because it’s heavy on the sweet — and very light on the savory. Because of how I ate the day before, and because I generally stay away from sweets on a day to day basis, I was a bit disappointed that there were SO little sandwiches.
That said, the sandwiches that were presented were very cute and tasty. The problem is, I instragrammed and googled tea at The Ritz and these were quite different from any sandwiches that are presented at any other Ritz. The others definitely weren’t open-​faced, and I felt as though the sandwiches at other locations were more substantial.
And now, the sweets: Apparently, the pot de crème with the chocolate hearts and chocolate covered candied orange peel strips was a special Valentine’s Day extra. Lucky us :) The hearts were raspberry filled and SO delicious, the pot de crème was chocolatey creaminess, and the chocolate covered peels were a good, less sweet, balance to it all.
The sweets on the tiered tray were absolutely adorable, carefully made/​decorated, and were equally delicious. There was a good variety of items including chocolate covered strawberries with a beautiful design on it, scones (complete with clotted cream, lemon curd, and preserves), fruit tarts, lemon cookies, and more.
This was a very pleasant afternoon tea. To recap, remember to:
1. Stay away from sweets for at least a day before.
2. Eat a late breakfast or super early lunch and treat this as your dessert.
3. Take a person you’d like to chat with for a long time because you should really savor each of the sweets. You will probably not be able to eat them all, just like us, though.
