They have made improvements in the quality of food, service, and appearance. I would recommend giving it a try again if you have given up on them before. The food is delicious!

Dee-licious fried chicken. Salty, tangy with I bit of spice. The gumbo is quite tasty and if you add the hush puppies, you’ll be delighted. They’ve got sweet tea too, but warning: it’s really, really sweet. They are not lying. And it’s good. I really love this place and have even developed a bit of a craving. Get some chicken tonight!

It’s a little overpriced, and they don’t give you much okra for the price. The 2 reasons they don’t score lower: I LOVE sweet tea and this is one of the few places that have it, and the gumbo is really good! I’ll try them again and order some other stuff, and maybe bump them up or a down a star. I’m a southerner and I hate to rate southern food this low, but it was honestly kinda meh.

Okay, the only thing I love here are the fried chicken. My husband enjoys the chicken strips, chicken nuggets, fries, and hush puppies. We tried one of the burgers(awful), chili dogs(bad), fish and chips(alright), mashed potatoes w/gravy(eh, plain), cole slaw(below average), and hot wings(okay). Their fried chicken are bomb af though, so I’m giving this place 5 stars for that.

No frills review on a no frills place. Chicken: crispy outside, tender and juicy inside, pronounced sage flavor but I like it. Gumbo: good but not as spicy as I like. Chicken wings: kinda small, same flavor as the rest of the chicken served with hot sauce on the side. Fries: crispy and delicious. Onion rings: hard texture, almost burnt. Coleslaw: gross. Red beans and rice: passable but a little on the bland side, I make better at home. Atmosphere: dive(not that that’s a bad thing) it’s at a bowling alley. Service: uninspired. They’re not rude or unaccommodating, just kinda there. Its good as a to-go order or as bar food while having a few at the other end of the building

Ordered a large okra and it came in this large box that was less than halfway filled. I actually thought my husband had eaten some on the way home. I mean you could see the bottom of the box between the few pieces that rolled around in there. Called to complain and was told that it was their manager’s policy to fill it that way… Really? Then you shouldn’t be charging for a large size. Chicken was good but nothing mind blowing. Staters sells good chicken. I don’t think I will wait 15 min and/or go out of my way again for this place. It might have been an isolated incident but it’s these incidences that drives away one, two and more customers away from your business.

So, the chicken is good. Nowhere near bland. Actually it’s well seasoned, the problem is it only comes in slightly spicy. I can’t really have spicy, but the chicken is flavorful even with the breading removed. The red beans and rice are yummy. Why do they have the best eggrolls in the desert? I just cant say, but that’s the truth of the matter. The coleslaw was fine. But listen to me people, the fried fish is all kinda yummy. Its all flaky and golden fried and delicious. I’m sitting here sad that I got an 8 piece chicken and 2 piece fish and not the other way around. I’m also sad that I shared the fish with my husband. It’s simply the truth. I’ve not tried anything else there. I’ve heard that their other sides are not yummy. I don’t know, but i do know what I had was super yummy. Though I would recommend the fish over the chicken.

This place is within walking distance from the house… so we decided to give it a try… we were the only ones in the restaurant as it was closer to closing time… cashier seemed bothered that we came in… took a long time to place the order and longer to get it… only reason I gave two starts is thAt the chicken was hot we I got it…

Being from Texas I have a high appreciation for sweet tea and fried foods. Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken has both and they are really great. I had the 2 piece fish and chips, small fried okra and of course sweet tea. I must say that I have a severe case of the«itis». The fried okra has a robust favor with a hint of spice, the fish was moist and juicy. French fries were of the crinkle kind which is a fave of mine as well. I asked for a small sampling of their gumbo which the young man was kind enough to oblige, and I am little sad I couldn’t have that with my meal as well. It’s a blessing to have such a small gem of southern Louisiana cuisine in the middle of the 29 Palms Desert. Everyone has their own opinions on food, but if you are like me and appreciate the hard work and soul that goes into preparing southern food and all foods this is a place you must try. Haaaa! Ok. Honesty, I would be full of it if I said I ever actually ate here. I’ve been inside now twice. So, its attached to a bowling ally… Okayyyy, no biggs… but then u see a young spacey eyed tween stumble up to the dirty lil ‘ordering counter’(which I have yet to place an order at…) And one of the times I was acknowledged… the other time the kid hid in the back… really odd. The space face zombie eyed generation of techie youts creeps me out. THe MORAL… if u want the creepiest fried chic experience ever… go for it homie!

The chicken strips were anorexic compared to my last visit a week ago. Otherwise the skrimps and fries were tasty as usual.

This place was quite disappointing after reading the reviews. We ordered the family meal:(12 pc., 1 mashed potatoes, 4 rolls), fried okra, hush puppies, and hot wings. Chicken and mashed potatoes were pretty good probably would give them 3 ½ stars, Okra tasted like it was from stater brothers, hush puppies were super tiny and over cooked, and hot wings were sweet not hot. My biggest complaint were the rolls, they were a Hawaii Roll 4 pack from the grocery store. This is a big if but if I would go back I would only get the chicken.

This place is BOMB. What makes it even better is that it’s totally unexpected in a small town area. The chicken is totally worth trying if you are in the area.

I was looking for the post office and happened to look to my left and saw this place. I am familiar with the franchise but have never had it before. The menu has so many choices, all of which I wanted to try. The prices are very reasonable. I opted for one of the family meals and was pleased when I got home. Also, the place is connected to the bowling alley so this is a great place for fun and food.

This place is a total hole in the wall as it is located in the back of the bowladium but it sure is a gem. I am from louisiana and whenever I get home sick this palce hits the spot. They have pretty impressive menu or chicken, sides, and other cajun cuisine.

Shocked to find authentic Creole in the desert. They use the franchise’s spices for the chicken and okra but their own recipe for everything else. Jambalaya and fried okra were ok, but the following were exactly right: File gumbo; superpeppery collard greens; juicy fried chicken; and sweet tea from orange pekoe. And still at fast food prices!

Great food! I like the fact that its not your typical fast food joint. My favorite are the chicken tenders; the chicken is breaded with a certain type of cajun spice that makes it very flavorful!
