History

Established in 2009.

I begun learning the cello when I was 8 years old. I have taught since age 11 when I founded a summer music camp in my hometown for young string players. In high school, I worked with orchestra teachers to throw a daylong cello festival for cellists throughout Western Michigan. In college, I participated in numerous cello festivals and led several ensembles.

I am the founder of the OC Cello Choir, a community cello ensemble, and the Definiens Project, a non-profit chamber music organization.

I have taught in Orange County since 2009.

Meet the Business Owner

Carter D.

Business Owner

Dr. Carter Dewberry completed her DMA in Chamber Music Performance and M.M. in Cello Performance from UCLA. She received her B.M. in Cello Performance from Western Michigan University and also holds a B.A. in French with minors in Women’s Studies and Philosophy.

In addition to teaching, Carter enjoys a diverse performance career as a soloist, orchestral, and recording musician. Today she regularly performs live and records for television, film, and independent music projects.

In Carter’s more than 25 years of experience teaching individual and group cello lessons, she has adopted a positive yet rigorous philosophy of instruction. She remembers that whatever piece or ensemble may be the desired outcome of lessons, the most important part of being a cellist is retaining a love for playing the instrument.
