Custom Lock and Key offers mobile locksmith service specializing in Commercial and Residential locksmithing. Our vans are equipped to service customers in need of rekeying, master key systems, ADA compliance, or high security keying systems. For over 25 years we’ve serviced residential, commercial and industrial door hardware and locksets, door closers, store front door repairs, emergency egress, file cabinets, desk locks, mailbox locks. We are mobile to serve you better, no shop location.

History

Established in 1988.

I, Mark Eley, started Custom Lock and Key in March of 1988. Previous to it’s inception, I managed the lock and key department at the «Old Town» Tustin Hardware on El Camino and Main in Tustin. My son, Ryan Eley, started working with me at age 15. He has over 12 years of experience as a locksmith. Between the two of us we’ve serviced over 30,000 customers.

I graduated from Tustin High in 1980. I then joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Navigation Electronic Technician onboard Ballistic Submarines until 1986. I returned to Tustin and went to work at my family’s business, Tustin Hardware, where I obtained the background to earn my Contractor’s License 557 646 as a hardware contractor. I started Custom Lock and Key in 1988, a mobile lock and key service specializing in Commercial and Residential locksmithing servicing Orange County, Riverside, and Los Angeles. My oldest son, Ryan, joined the ranks in 2000.

Mark was exceptionally professional the entire time I had contact with him! I called him around 7:30 am because I was unable to get into my garage due to closing the door from the inside without having the portable opener with me. He offered to come over as his second appointment, but I opted for a later appointment. He was on time and checked out the situation before jumping right in and telling me to change everything (as most do). He made me an key for my emergency release lock, which I did not have before and changed the electronic lock with two new keys. Price was under $ 100 for new lock, three keys and his service call. Would definitely use him again in the future for any lock/​key needs I may need and I would recommend him to anyone who has the need for a professional, good priced, timely locksmith. :)

I called Custom Lock and Key when my mailbox key would not work. Mark suggested I try using WD-​40 which did not work. We agreed on a time and when he arrived, looked at the mailbox decided it was the key and not the lock. I retrieved my extra keys and they worked perfectly so the lock didn’t need to be replaced. I highly recommend Mark and Custom Lock and Key and will definitely use his services again, when needed. Mark was very professional and kind.

I am a business owner and have used Custom several times for keys etc but yesterday was the first time I needed a major job. I recently moved suites and did an expansion and remodel. Everything in my clinic is gorgeous and new except the main door. I think the door knob and closer mechanism are circe 1965. I called them yesterday about 10:30 am, Mark was at my business by 2:30 and had installed a brand new door knob, lock and closer (now no more people thinking the door is locked when it’s not and it doesn’t slam shut) Mark was quick, cleaned up after his mess to the last crumb and I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable charge at the end. I could not be HAPPIER!!! Thanks Mark for your PROMT service!
