If I could give a million negative stars, I would.
I came for a shellac manicure. Started off fine, she took off my acrylic and as she was doing that I showed her a picture of how I wanted my nails and asked her is she could do it. She said yes and that was that.
She started off with doing white shellac on my nails. After two goats of shellac she then added the nail design with regular black Polish.
She did the nail design then put a shellac top coat on and had me put it in the shellac drying thing.
When it finished she asked me how it looked. I told her that the white shellac was kind of wrinkly and the nail design was smeared. Her response was then «I just need to add one more top coat» so another top coated she added. Making it 4 layers of shellac plus the nail design.
After that trying session she asked how it looked again and i had to tell her that the shellac was wrinkly and the nail design was smeared. She then said she couldn’t take of the nail design because she already put a shellac top coat on. So I then again tell her that the shellac is still wrinkly.
She then said in Vietnamese, which I am Vietnamese and she didn’t know. «This girl keeps telling me her shellac is wrinkly but I have eyes and it’s not»
So I said «actually I’m Vietnamese and I know exactly what you just said» then she continues to tell me she didn’t say anything
But I guess she didn’t understand the part when I said I was Vietnamese.
1) my shellac nails looked horrible
2) my nail design looked horrible
3) she talked crap about me in Vietnamese
4) didn’t offer to redo my nails
And 5) still charged me full price.
I will never return and I will let everyone know who decides to get their nails done to not go to this place.

I lived this place. Probably the best I have ever been to. Arm and leg massages, perfect nails, never had to get out of the massage chair. I absolutely loved it and my nails still look great. The price was good at just $ 32 for a mani-​pedi.

This review is about eyebrow waxing and shaping… just don’t do it here! The young woman was extremely fast and haphazard… And managed to make one eyebrow SUPER thin and one thick. They look completely different! (Awkward, yet reparable… But now I have two very thin eyebrows). The difference was extremely obvious. (Cringe). After 10 years of eyebrow shaping /​waxing, this is my first bad news story and this was BAD!

I called around four to make sure they could fix my nails today. They said yes, so I headed there right after work at four. I ended up waiting for thirty minutes before getting up and leaving. No one even said hello or asked me what I needed. So rude.

Got shellac nails done here a couple weeks ago, and they only lasted for a week and a half until they starting peeling off and coming apart. After the two week mark each nail had less than half of the paint on them. I recommend to NOT get shellac nails done here.
BUT — I did get a regular pedicure done as well and the paint is still on my toes after 3 weeks so at least they did a good job with that so I gave two stars. The massage they give wasnt that great and you cant adjust the chair your sitting in either which was a bummer.

Learned the hard way that this place is not what I thought. I’ve had ten nails break in two months. I finally took the set off. Ill spend my money somewhere else!

Do not go here. What a waste of money and time. They did a rushed job and the VERY next day my manicure started to FLAKE off. I did nothing but wash my hands… This places uses cheap materials and is not about quality…

Chipped nail after an hour later, customer service sucks. First time and last time. Never going back!

I went on Friday to get my nails done here instead of my usual place. They were close and only had a few people in there. Like most nails shops I did wait for about 15 minutes before I was sat down. All I asked for was a manicure and I showed the girl a picture of a simple design on my phone. She promised she could do it.
She gave me the fastest manicure I’ve ever gotten but not in a good way. A few of my nails were not filed straight when she started to paint them. Her lines were uneven and a few didn’t even go all the way across the nail. She finished up, put me over a small nail dryer then she left for the day.
Once my nails were dry it looked like I let a 5 year old paint them. I checked out and pointed out the issues. The girl at the counter started to make excuses as to why my nails looked jacked up but promised to fix them. As I sat she put two other customers next to me and started them. Finally after another 10 minutes I told her I couldn’t wait. She just said sorry as she filed the other girl’s nails.
Over the weekend all the polished white tips have cracked or chipped off. I paid extra for clear gems and two have already just popped off. My nails look like I’ve had the polish on for 2 weeks not 3 days. I will never go here again.

Ive gotten my nails done here for years and have NEVER BROKE with Tulips… this be the ONLY place that my nails NEVER break!
The ladies are genuinely sweet’ Vietnamese ladies most have been there as long as I’ve been a customer…10 plus years?. I live in Tacoma, and they are so good its worth it (to me) to drive all the way to South center for the ultimate bionic nails that never break!
They are very FAST, it seems most nail places are like sitting in a doctors office, it becomes this whole day event of sitting in a chair waiting. There’s a lady imp articular that I always request she’s UBER FAST — I mean 20 minute full set of pink and white fast!
They also do a great pedi and really dig into your feet, which I LOVE, I feel I am getting my moneys worth when they really get in there– GET ALLLLL UP IN DEM TOES! Dig it all out n scrape it all off, I know there’s a beautiful pretty soft foot hiding under the debris somewhere! Tulips finds that pretty foot, my nails and feet ALWAYS look pretty when I go there. I tend to be adventurous when it comes to my nail game, so its no surprise when they turn out weird or ugly, but for some odd reason I can get something freakish funky at Tulips and they ALWAYS turn out pretty… they live up to their name, your hands and feet will be soft and pretty like a Tulip when you leave here.
Is it me or do a lot of nail places five and dime you, mislead in price, and almost always seem to over charge? I find myself asking how much before they even start because its never the price in the window. I don’t like to ask about pricing, when its posted there boldly and it just feels tacky to ask but I am done with surprise pricing at these places… Tulips seems to be steady and reasonably priced.
They do accept walk ins, but If you don’t like to wait then I would suggest an appointment… Ive never found myself waiting for more then 15 mins here.
They are in a busy area in South center, if you find yourself waiting, there’s plenty to do all located in same parking lot. a nice half priced books store, great Vietnamese fast food and a new value village which I have been dying to visit… I smell a south center shop N pamper trip coming up really soon here…

I don’t usually switch salons when doing a wax but my usual was closed and I needed a Brazilian wax asap. The employees were polite and nice and the salon was very spacious. I was taken to a room with curtains and a covered window, the lady who was to be waxing me didn’t indicate to give me privacy while I undressed and prepared everything in front of me.
During the wax she didn’t ask me to move my legs in any direction and when I did, on my own, she said thank you. She didn’t seem professional at all and lacked experience. The experience was unnecessarily painful, unlike any time before.
She ended up tweezing a lot of the missed hair. I have had many waxes but this was a painful and awkward experience.
I noticed no one has written wax reviews so here it is!

It was about an hour before their closing time. Right when I enter the door. They looked extremely annoyed that I was there. So, I told them I do not mind leaving and setting an appointment for tomorrow. The lady Helen stated that it was fine, so she proceeded to do my nails. When she was doing my nails, I realize that two of my nails were crooked. I informed her and I wanted her to make it straight (which was reasonable). She got annoyed and told me that it was MY OWN NAIL that was crooked. I did not care to argue, I just wanted for her to make it right. When she did, she started yanking my hand. I normally have a lot of patience but I could not help but get annoyed, by this point. I started to tense up because she was so rough, she told me that I need to stop being so stiff because I WAS HURTING HER HAND! I told myself to not be rude because she probably had a long day. Then her cell phone rang while she was doing my nails so she decides to pick up the phone and STAYED ON the phone with whoever it was. Well, I hope she had a great conversation because…
I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!
I normally can deal with bad customer service but MY GOODNESS! HELEN WAS HORRIBLE! I RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! DRIVE TO ANOTHER NAIL LOCATION!!!

I wish I could give them a negative rating but that isn’t an option.
The pros: the place looks clean and modern, great location, plenty of parking
The cons: My mom had her nails done (arylic/​powder) and wanted glitter as a top coat, Helen the lady doing her nails failed to mention that if she applied the top coat to her arylic nails it would turn them YELLOW when the sun hit them.
So her nails turn yellow about 2 days after they were done. So she goes back to the shop and tells them about it thinking they would gladly fix this for her for free. NOPE, not the case. They actually were pissed off because she came back in. They had her wait and when she got passed up by two other customers she demanded that she be seen next since she had waited for 10mins. They didn’t like this and gave excuses that the girl doesn’t do nails but only manicures (however she was not donig a manicure for that customer?!?).
So one girl starts her nails and obviously really pissed off. She is about to start applying the arylic and my Mom says wait I still see that yellow in my cuticals and on the side of my nail bed. This girl gets enraged and refuses to fix them and says that Helen, who originally did my Moms nails needs to fix them.
Again my Mom waits for her… she begins to fix them and proceeds to tell my Mom it will cost her $ 30. My Mom then says NO, this was your mistake, you knew that my nails would change colors and you didn’t inform me. She refused to pay anything. Helen then tells her that she is to never come back again! SERIOUSLY??? They screw up and then my Mom is told not to come back?!? She was nothing but polite to Helen…
Long story short, Helen fixes her nails free of charge. As the next customer walks in, she is greeted with rude attitudes and when she lets the lady know that she’ll be back, she needs to change into her sandles, that was our opportunity to tell her not to waste her money at this shop. So she didn’t.
I would not come here again, believe the reviews. My Mom wanted to give them a chance and make her own mind up however, the reviews were correct.
Don’t waste your time or money!!!
I would go to Number One Nail Pro in Renton off of Sunset Blvd… excellent service and they will make wrong right with no hesitation!

I has been going to this place for more than two years, and generally walk in without an appointment. The place is clean, the staff courteous and professional. I have a regular monthly brow wax and an occasional pedicure. I love the pedicure treatment. Oh my. That deep tub of warm swirling water and foot and calf massage with scented lotion. I have never waited longer than 15 minutes. I am a mix of black and white, with light brown skin. Never noticed any attitude or issues at all. Of course, I always tip based on any level service. What goes around, comes around.

I was on my way to the airport and and had time to kill. I was looking for a place to get my nails done… this one popped up on Unilocal!I was the only customer in the place and immediately was offered a chair for my pedi. I always get a french pedi with a colorful line. The only option they offered me was silver line… but I figured ok. by 1 week the white paint was chipping off, and the line was way too thick. Plus some of the toes were totally crooked paint jobs. Cost me $ 35…next time I will know to go to my regular spot where they talk to the customer and know what they customer is looking for in the service.

TERRIBLE! I have been getting my nails done all over The Tukwila Renton area for years and have never came across such disrespect. Not towards me but towards another client who walked in the salon while I was there. I went in for a fill and Pedi. While I was there a black woman came in wanting a fill. The main nail lady told her they were busy and the wait would be over an hour so the lady walked out and said she would be back later. Then the main nail lady laughed and said black people never tip. I could not believe what I was hearing. Shortly after another woman walked in (not black) and they attended to her right away. I gathered my things and left. I will NEVER do business with this nail salon again and joined Unilocal just to tell as many people I can that they do not deserve your business.

I walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty, which is fine. A lady actually walked in at the same time as me and we were seated right away. Both of us were getting our hands worked on.
I was just looking for a simple manicure as my nails were too long for my comfort. My lady was nice but she MADE ME BLEED when she was cutting the dead skin around my cuticles. She didn’t apologize for it or anything and just kept on working without taking care of it. Finally, when she was done, she cleaned my finger. I didn’t see her clean her tools though, so just a heads up (I am hoping she did later).
Because my nails were already cut, she didn’t bother cutting them or filing all of them evenly. You could tell that a few of my nails were uneven and longer than others, so it bothered me that she didn’t take the time to just file them all so they would look nice and even.
Also, I had shellac removed before getting a simple plain coat. It is a $ 5 charge to get polish removed apparently, so I paid $ 17 bucks for my finger to get stabbed, my nails to not get properly filed, and for the shellac to be removed.
Yeah…I will be going to other places in the future.

Crappy service!
I decided to get my eyebrows waxed with my sister. It wasn’t busy, but the lady made us wait for 15 minutes. SHE CUT OFF SOME OF MY EYEBROWS! There was a missing chunk near the end of my right brow. Luckily my bang were able to cover it. She said it was like that before, and she didn’t cut a chunk off. I would never recommend this place to my friends.

I cannot figure out why this place has decent reviews? My girlfriend and I came here based on the reviews… big mistake!
We come in, we had to wait a few, no biggie. The woman fills our tubs and tells us to have a seat and walks away. My water was lukewarm and only one jet worked! My friend said only one of her jets was working as well. Both of our tubs overfill because the lady left and we were scrambling to get up to shut it off. Another lady comes over and starts working on my friends pedicure. Mind you, there’s two of us and there is nothing more annoying then when you’re with a friend and they only do one person at a time. By the time she was done with my friend my water was FREEZING. My friend then had to sit there and wait while my pedicure was being done. The actual time she spent on our feet was like 10 minutes? We basically paid to have our feet soaking in a broken, cold water tub. I could have done that at home. No thanks to this place!

I was actually looking at Unilocal for places where I can get my mani and/​or pedi. I happen to come across this place. I made an appointment and when I entered the place it was bigger than most of other nail salons I’ve been to. The first time it was during the summer and they kept the place nice and cool. The shades were down and they have air conditioning!
The staff were friendly but some were quiet. The place was clean and orderly. One thing is you have to walk all the way to the back to pick out your polish color. The sink was located at the back also. But overall it’s a nice quaint place.
