Toys R Us

Small location. The TRU in Southcenter used to be very large but it moved to a smaller location and shares the space with Babys R Us. We found what we needed but the selection is not as large as the normal stores. Overall, the store was clean. Didn’t see any sales reps walking around like how they normally do at the larger stores but there was no line and the sales rep was ready to cash us out so I can’t complain. :)

They moved from their old location that is now a Value Village (I guess that happened years ago), but it is now a BabiesRUs as well. They have ‘expectant mom’ parking up front which is nice for those women, but watch out for all the poorly parented children running amok. They have all sorts of toys and games, and a kid could easily spend a day in here. However, many aisles were messy and disorganized and the staff appeared to be walking around with a lackadaisical attitude. I’d recommend coming here only if you need something right away (like a gift for a same-​day party or something). Otherwise just order it online; it’ll probably be cheaper.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SMARTER PEOPLE WORK AT MCDONALDS. I had a price adjustment that I was requesting and it was within the correct time frame, however even after me coming in twice with everything I needed to get an adjustment was not enough to sway these pathetic managers. I was told that the first time I should of had the price honored and now it was too late because I was one day too late. And even though it was they’re fault I was denied the adjustment the first time I was told that’s too bad. Really, how is that customer service. I was blown away with idiocy over this situation. Normally a manager will try and make things correct if they admit to a mistake over something like not honoring a price adjustment that should of been honored. I was even told by the bigger female employee who stood off to the side just adding rude commentary making the situation a public display… she said no I did not come in last weekend. I knew the exact day and time I came in and why would an employee argue with a guest. I had a receipt and a formal complaint issued to customer service last week so I was right anyway and how rude trying to make me look like I was lying when I was not at all. Get some new staff and invest in some proper training.

The place was cluttered and toys everywhere, which is to be expected but the shelves were empty in a lot of places. I found the items on my list but I’d recommend trying to keep up with stocking the shelves and organizing things so that customers can navigate thru the place a little easier.
I’d give u 5 stars otherwise.

These guys had a terminal that wasn’t reading my card. Their management refused to manually key in my card because it was flat and not imprinted (welcome to 2011 guys) and my ID wasn’t good enough. They turned me away from a $ 300 order just like that and told me to leave. I asked if they could at least humor me and use a bag trick. it worked. probably a dirty card reader. thanks for embarrassing me.

They had the items I wanted, and they were on sale, for a price that actually beat the competition fairly. However, when it comes down to interacting with employees. They know less than John Snow.
My biggest mistake in the visit was placing my order on line with in store pick up. I thought I would be able to simplify some of my errands. Should be painless, right? I read the instructions before arriving and started walking to the customer service desk in the front. I was greeted by an employee who sent me back to the registration desk in the baby section. Once there I was advised by the two employees to login at the kiosk so that they would be notified and my items could be collected. The map indicating where to go to pick up said items wasn’t very clear, so I asked the employee to help me with it. They didn’t understand the map either and pointed me vaguely in the direction of video games.
I wound up walking to where should have been the pick up area to find myself in the video game section. Though polite, the guys there didn’t even seem to know that there was a pick up service available.
Finally, I wound up walking to the customer service desk (4 year old in tow), which is where I wanted to go in the first place before an employee sent me elsewhere. Several other people were also waiting for pick ups, and there wasn’t an orderly line, there were no service numbers, and everyone was balled up in one area blocking off several checkout lanes because there was no specified waiting area.
A number of other mishaps (including one where they seemed to be confused that I hadn’t ordered a bike) my items were brought out, in clear bags. Since when does Toys R Us use clear bags? Some of the employees mentioned there were missing signs and the kiosk, which I had been told to enter my information into wasn’t working correctly. Which was equally confusing since it gave no error message when I used it, but the employees at the customer service desk seemed surprised when I arrived to ‘check in’ to get my items later. Remember the 4 year old who was with me? They were toys for her. Ideally I would have picked them up when she wasn’t with me, but scheduling didn’t allow it. And since they brought everything out in clear bags she got to see everything.
My advice is this. To customers, it would be simpler to verify they have an item in stock online, and immediately go to the store and purchase it. It would be much faster. The staff though trying to meet customers needs they were not trained or informed of what was going on. This made it stressful for everyone involved.
My advice to the store is train your employees! Out of the 5 employees I talked to before going back to the place I tried to go to in the beginning (the service desk). I have never met a group of people who know so little about where to send customers, let alone answer even the most basic questions. Fix this.

Had never been to this newer Southcenter location. It was OK — parking lot was chaos. Staff didn’t know where things were or where things in their ads were located (but they tried to help). Did get several items at great sale prices — so we left happy!

I love this store because it is the biggest store in King County compare to Tacoma. The store offer everything you need including baby things to older kids stuff. The store is clean, the service is awesome, and the staff are always willing to help me. Weekends are always busy but I usually go on weekdays or early morning. I am the type to avoid traffic by visiting stores early.

Toys R Us/​Babies R Us. This is one of the only places that I know you can buy the jumbo box of Pampers. Other places usually don’t carry such a large amount. The prices are fairly reasonable as well.

This location is okay, lots of selection, but also they don’t have much in stock and every time I have gone here I have seen lots of empty shelves and cluttered aisles. The staff have been great and others have seemed like they dont care to help at all. But I recently bought a jumper here and I love it. They have coupons online so check it out before you buy to save you some bucks!
Lines can be a little hectic too, but cashiers have been friendly.
A downfall: OVERPRICED.
Positive: Lots of selection for gifts, but they run out a lot too. =(Or at least when I have gone.

This is one of the worst Toys R Us I’ve ever been too! The problem here is the really poor training of the seasonal hires. I’m not blaming the new guys, but rather the way they were trained. This weekend I went in to buy a Christmas toys for gifts and when I went to the checkout, they were very disorganized. I tried to use a spend $ 75 get $ 10 gift card offer and they didn’t know anything about it and I had to wait 5 minutes for a manager to help.
To top it off, at checkout, the girl asked if I wanted to save $ 10 on my next visit, but never mentioned it required signing up for the store credit card. I thought it was just the store rewards card. It wasn’t until she asked for my driver’s license did I suspect something. And even then, it seemed like she asked for it just to verify my identity.
The moral of the story, if you need to shop here, make sure you double check your receipts to make sure your order is rung up correctly. I saw a lot of people near me complaining of not getting the advertised special price and just ringing people up at the regular price.

My review is not a reflection on ToysRUs, just on some of their merchandise.
This past weekend, while my son and his family were here from out of state, they purchased a SAFETY FIRST ELITE 65 car seat. They brought it to our house where my son and I attempted to install this seat in their car.
After a frustrating hour, during which time we consulted both the vehicle owner’s manual and the SAFETY FIRST manual, we decided it was not safe and he decided to return it.
The install clips grabbed the mounts easily enough, but when we attempted to tighten the strap, the clamp would let loose whenever any pressure was applied to the seat itself. We even put a large dowel through the loop on the strap to try to tighten it. No better luck. The clamp clicked and the seat not only flopped forward and back, but also from side to side.
This is very unfortunate as now they will have to rely on whatever is available in their small Montana town.
It is nearly impossible to order a car seat on line, as it is imperative to try to install such a seat in your own car, in person.

I’m a ToysRUs Kid… Oh How I believe that song… Its always fun to go in and play with the toys and see everything new. This location is great! Fun, Friendly and Helpful Staff. Lots of items and not too packed, plenty of room to move around and PLAY! Lets Go!

Called in to see if a carseat I need to purchase is in stock since the coupon I have is only honored in store. Instead of transferring me after a pretty unpleasant exchange I sat on hold for 10 minutes before I finally just hung up. I’ll just order from Amazon. It’s cheaper, and not worth the hassle if you don’t want my business.

*Honors both BRU and TRU coupons. (Likely not on the same trip if you read the fine print). Now, they’ve always honored sister store coupons unless otherwise noted, but now I don’t have to go to two locations to peruse baby vs toy stuff for deals.
*Expanded selection of LeapFrog Tag books and Leapster learning games.
* FAO Schwartz row, just fun to browse!
*Infant and preschooler toys are central, sort of a bridge from baby furniture/​clothes to excess toys.

DISLIKES
*It feels overwhelmingly too packed. From mid-​day to early evening, it seems packed with people as well.
*Still not the greatest selection of educational toys, kids-​focused art/​crafts and kits, etc. Still very focused on TV and game character-​based brands. But, we always knew that.
PARENT TIPS: I browsed for the first time one morning without kids just to navigate for future trips. No tantrums for toys here =) But, if you bring the kids for some eye candy: shop with a list, go in the morning, don’t go hungry, and don’t go in a hurry. Plus, if video game systems are not your thing, you can carefully stroll around that entire section so the kids don’t even notice.
NOTE: Baby Registry is hidden in the baby furniture section — not clearly visible by signage (and you can’t see over the shelving to see the open floor space of furniture samples).

I like how Toys R Us combine the stores with Baby R Us so it becomes easier to shop at one location.
Great location with lots of parking and be sure to bring earplugs for yourself to block out the crying kids throwing tantrums to get their parents to buy them stuff. lol
