Half Price Books Parkway Square — Tukwila, Washington — Buy and sell new and used books, CDs, LPs, DVDs, comic books, textbooks, magazines, electronics, games, nostalgia, stationery and more!
Definitely don’t sell your books here. I took some really nice books in today that I purchased from a bookstore that went out of business recently. The books were selling anywhere from $ 5.00-$ 25.00 at the other bookstore. Half Price Books wanted to give $ 8.96 for all the books. They said they would donate the rest. It’s doubtful that they donate the books. Like some of the reviews said, they probably just dump the books. What a shame! The staff were all very friendly, and they gave me a 10% coupon. I gave it back to them and thanked them. I’ll try selling the books somewhere else, or I’ll donate them to the library. Again, the staff was very nice, but I will never come back to Half Price Books. It was a very disappointing experience.

I came to this location about 6 months ago and had an AWFUL experience. The manager sent me a message and tried to fix the situation by giving me a gift card and a coupon, which did help. I decided to come back to this location and give it another try. I tried to sell some of my books, about 20 of them which I got a whopping 50 cents for. They don’t tell you which books they are taking and which they aren’t. They honestly give you 5 cents a book. The ones they don’t sell they just chuck into the garbage, might as well donate the books rather than give it to this wasteful company. The workers buying books were extremely rude and did not smile at all. They kept a nasty glare the entire time. I don’t even think they looked at my books, just gave me a cheap offer. I wanted the books out of my house so I agreed to the price. Then I saw them chuck the books into the garbage. The workers were extremely rude. They left their books that they were shelving all over the floor, scattered in every row. You could barely walk around them. The cashier was extremely rude and bitter. A girl ahead of me got out of line to get a different book and came back, which the cashier did not like. He complained about her coming back and gave her attitude and made her go to a different register. The book prices are okay. They don’t even treat their new books with respect. Most of the books are used, which is understandable to have dents. But a lot of new books are bent, from the pages to the front and back binding. DONOTSELLTOTHEM! DONATETHEBOOKS! THEYWILLTHROWTHEMINTHEDUMPSTER! I tried to give this place another chance, but I will never come here again nor will I recommend this company.

Word on the street is that you can come here to sell/get rid of your books and you can get cash back for it, So I came to see what that was all about. I had a small bag of books, maybe 6 or 7 of them and didn’t know who to ask about it, so I went up to the front cashier area where I was told by an employee to head to the back. They actually have a section and sign that says sell books or some shit like that. So I left my books with another employee and was told it would be about a 30 minutes wait while the guy in the back looked up the books and their value. In that time, I looked around the store. It was really small and cramped but They have a lot of great books for low prices. I didn’t have that much time to actually browse like I wanted. After 30 minutes was up, I headed back to the back counter and only received $ 3 for those books. Note that these books were used, not brand new, had writing or were from my old high school library but not ripped and torn. So do not come here and expect to get a lot back. I’m sure brand new books are more valued than used ones, but then again I don’t really know how this store works.

A good Half Price Books can kill at least an hour of my time. THIS location is NOT one of those stores. It’s tiny and even more crammed with aisles of books and kitsch than any other I’ve seen. I definitely will not add this one to my must frequent list.

Mixed feelings on this location. Have been a long time customer, but customer service is sometimes lacking. Went in today for their sale. Have been looking at a DVD Alfred Hitchcock set and boy, is it over priced. I ask the young lady at the register and told her I had found it much cheaper other places. She was not nice about my comment. I want to support local business and am just confused by why the employees get an attitude when asked a question. I have worked in public relations for years and just don’t get their attitude. I would like to buy the set, if it was properly priced. Oh well, will look somewhere else.

Horrible experience… from the beginning bringing my books in, the staff seems very bitter. very curt. I came back in 25 minutes and didn’t expect to get a large sum for my eight bags of books, and agreed to the amount. I am tramatized at what happened as I am literally in the parking lot. There was no mention of me donating the books they were not interested in, and as I am pulling out of the parking lot the gentleman is taking stacks of my books and throwing them in the recycle dumpster. I am new to the selling of used books… and would have gladly donated them. Ugh, my heart

I saw this place next to a great Thai restaurant my husband and I went to for lunch today. We went to check the book store out and found a handful of books to buy. I bought two textbooks, and two novels, all for around $ 32. I wish their textbook selection was larger, and more up to date, but I can’t complain about the 2 books I did find. I also looked for sheet music for a viola, but couldn’t find anything. That was also a small section, but I don’t assume they get many people bringing in sheet music to sell. They do have sheet music for banjos if you are searching for some. They have friendly service and the parking is easy(they are in a shopping area with its own lot). I will definitely come back to search around longer.

This place is great for people looking to spend a lot less than your average book store. They have a great selection of children’s books as well. Its perfect for me since my daughter blows thru her books in a couple hours. They also have a pretty good selection of comics for any fellow nerds. At half the price who could complain.

Half Priced Books, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways: 1. Great for selling books, games and movies that everybody wants. 2. For offering better than pawn prices. 3. For having a great selection of books, videos, some games and an eclectic music selection. 4. For the great customer service… when I mentioned I was dehydrated, they gave me a refreshingly cold cup of water.

Been to other Half Price Books around the country — they are consistent all around. Nice mix of new and used books — great prices.

So many books and so much stuff, you could literally spend hours and hours just wandering the aisles while finding hidden treasures all over the place. In addition to shelves, stacks, piles, and walls filled with books, there are also movies, CD’s, comics, electronics, toys, calendars, and so many other things I can’t even remember it all! The staff is friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about all the stuff that is packed into their store. This particular location is tucked into the corner of a strip mall not far from the Southcenter Mall and has lots of parking available.

I love Half Price Books because I feel like it’s a cross between a crazy, you never know what you’re going to find used bookstore and an organized chain bookstore. I no longer live in Washington and we don’t have HPB in my neck of the woods(come to LA!), but I frequent this location when I’m in Seattle visiting friends because I can make it on the way to or from the airport — which is good because I usually end up reading more than I predicted on the plane and then I’m out of reading material for my return trip. I’ve gotten some really random, obscure stuff here as well as some bestsellers and I’m always excited that things are so cheap. Seriously, I have a Nook and I just can’t even justifying buying e-books half the time because buying books here is so much cheaper. Plus, then I have the added benefit of looking totally smart because I have a respectable bookcase in my living room — books are the most functional of décor pieces, after all.

I’m a pretty thrifty shopper and picky when it comes to book stores(though every store has a place in my heart), but this HPB was a fun find. Lots in their selection at well past«half-priced.» Recommend checking out their bargain stuff in the back(common to every HPB), there were books I’ve been searching for at a good price. Keep reading America!

I love to recycle my «junk» and buy other people’s «junk» and let’s face it, browsing in the bookish junk! Great place to recycle those book, CD, DVD, VHS and other bookish items for in-store credit or cash. I also like they find«homes» for items they do not wish to resell. Most often, I find deals that I have placed on my wishlist on Amazon, but at lower prices! What feels better than finding deals, browsing to pass the time, and hoarding new finds is the feeling I receive when I recycle my once treasured«junk»!
