Smith Bros Brake & Wheel Service

I went to this place to get my Muffler fix because it was very low. Of course being a woman, I feel that I will be cheated on the price etc. However, I was VERY WRONG. They fixed my muffler. They welder it to put it on its place. They said «ok, you are all set. thanks.» If I would have taken it to other places, I would have left not just getting my Muffler done but maybe the entire car. They were very pleasant, friendly, and most of all HONEST. So, if you need a good, honest mechanic, come to this place. Great Service

Bros was highly recommended. Now I see why. Very efficient, quick, fair price, even
offered to give me a lift home, even though I did not ask for one. Like my truck, they don’t make like this anymore. Take your vehicle to Smith Bros, you won’ be sorry.

Good service I guess, but my family goes there at least once a month, our bills are huge, and the car still sounds like it has a dying animal stuck in the brakes. These guys are horrible repairmen and they don’t do their job right; they may be good for a one time thing but if you keep going to them they’ll rip you off and your car will «mysteriously» keep needing new repairs.

Dennis, the one that runs the shop is wonderful and takes the time to listen. Recommend Smith brothers to anyone in Sunland area or out. I drive from Valencia and worth the drive. The have great mechanics who know what they are doing. No need to search for coupons or discounts just get it done.

The most dependable and fair automotive repair shop. I have recommended many people and friends to Smith Bros. They’re a busy shop so expect a little wait.

I went to this location hoping for the best after reading the reviews, however the prior owner of the vehicle had used them for all of the prior work on this car I worked with Dennis throughout the entire process and he was great. My goal was to bring my ’89 Blazer into order so it could be used regularly and long distances. The estimate was free; I gave them a deadline and they got all of the work done on time and on budget.
Prior to doing the work I called a couple of contacts I have in the used car industry to check the pricing they gave me and they all said the pricing was fair (also the feeling I had when I received the estimate). The car was ready the day they promised it. When driving the car that weekend we discovered a new problem after driving ii for hours. I took it back to them and they fixed it at cost and had it ready again within three days. Was I upset that they didn’t catch it the first time –yes; was I happy that they fixed it at cost– yes. The reason I am still willing to give them 4 stars is that the problem only showed up when the car was hot, this would have required them to complete a 30 – 40 minute test drive to even notice the problem; I don’t know any shop that will do this extensive of a test drive with no notice that a problem existed.
One area that this place could absolutely improve on: calling customers back in a timely manner. These guys should hire an office person to answer the phone and remind the mechanics to call customers back. They do call back but its usually significantly later than they say they would.
Work they completed: New radiator, new heating core, tighten up steering column, smog, tune-​up, distributor cap, gear box.

I had been going to Smith Brother’s since the late 90s. Over the years, they seemed to treat me well and take good care of me. The last couple of years, they would make mistakes (poor quality control) like lose my oil cap, break a sensor that kept my check engine light on, charge me for a tire rotation and not do it, and most recently, did a wheel alignment and a tire rotation, when I asked their opinion on how my tires were wearing, they told me that they looked worn, but no rush, just get new tires before the rainy months. When I got home, I noticed (while I was checking to see if they really rotated the tires) that the front passengers tire had a large rip down the middle of it with the steel belt sticking though!!! They had just rotated my tires and did a wheel alignment!!! That was it, My wife and I now go to a local mechanic who was recommended by a trusted friend and we love him. We also found out about other work Smith Bros. said they did and either did not do it, or did a shoddy job.

I’ve been going to Smith Brothers for a long time. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I have never had a problem with them and I go to them regularly. I don’t recognize the negative behaviors described in other reviews at all. They have always treated me fairly and with the utmost of respect.

One of the best places I’ve been to for my car. They take care of my car as if I’m family! I keep going back because no matter what I hear noise wise with my car I can ask them and not be made to feel dumb. I know enough about my car to keep it running well and keep the engine well maintained but when something happens I know I can count on Dennis and the guys to fix the problem for me!

I got referred to these guys from someone at the AutoZone. GREAT tip! Dennis was very good at understanding the problem and getting his guys on it. I now have a new mechanic. YAHOO!

These guys are honest and try to help you. I had a terribly difficult situation with a new part that was defective after Smith Bros. replaced it. It was under warranty and Smith Bros knocked themselves out trying to find and pick-​up a replacement part. Once they got the part it was installed in a flash (both times).
I feel like I have found an honest mechanic’s shop in Smith Bros.

do not go there!! they are scammers and will try to take you money.
i went in because my ABS lights went on. they did a diagnostic which took them two days to complete, it was crazy. the finally got back to me and gave me an error code that could be one of four things. they said they would have to check those four thing and let me know what the the prorblem was. i call in a couple hours later and the main guy tells me its looking like its something small. just have to clean
i was like thats great! then he says he will need to finish checking it the next day and i say ok. The next day hes says its the whole module, its bad. and it is going to cost me $ 1200 dollars for new replacement or $ 800 for a used madule. i just had a really bad feeling about
gut was saying something was not right so i told them to put my madule back together and i was coming to pick up my car. i paid the diagnostic fee $ 80 and took my car home. did research on the internet, with the error code they gave me and came across a posting that said beware of machanics trying to rip you
said check the fuses on top of the battery and claen them because they can sometimes get a little
i claened the put them back in and remarkably the lights went off. they have’nt come back on. its been four months and no light. But i called in the next day after i fix the problem and told them i changed my mind and i wanted to pay $ 800 for a used madule. And for five days i was calling them atleast six times a day and they kept giving me the run around saying they couldnt find a used madule but they supposedly had the part the day they told me what the problem was. I think they were going to charge me $ 800 dollers. Say they were working on my car, leave the original module in the car (because there was no problem with it) and say they replaced it. charge me for parts and labor and rip me off. free money in there pocket. that would have been a perfect scam. thank god i went with my gut feeling. if you have the ABS lights on before taking it to a machanic try what i did check the fuses located on the top of you battery clean them with WD40 and scratch cloth put them back in and see if the light goes away good luck!

Never ever go there. A few hundred dollar job turned into a 1200.00 job. It was their errors!!! That they kept charging me for things and even tried to blame the dealer at times because the looked at it first before it broke down. They kept saying it was one thing then it became another. I supplied the parts and they installed them then said it was my parts that caused the problem. It was not my parts it was them misdiagnosing the problem. They even charged me 14.00 each for $ 2.00 spark plugs, then charged me for 2 distributor caps at $ 75 & $ 65 each. I told him it was not my problem that he made the errors and the owner Dennis got nasty and tried to blame me for their problems and errors not knowing how to fix the car. I would never have taken the car there but it broke down and my partner in a panic had it towed there. Dennis kept telling me after awhile they had to call Mater Mechanic hotline to get help in fixing it since they did not know how. I am sure he found a way to charge me for that.
I had a problem with them two years ago when one of their star mechanics did not know how to turn on my AC in my classic car. He hot wired it to the battery to see if it would start and blew up part of the electrical system. He did this in front of me and then Dennis said it was my problem not theirs and told me to take the car away and he even then had the nerve to charge me for his fool blowing up my electronic dash. I had to pay almost 800.00 to have it fixed by another place. They caused a electrical surge go through the system and it shorted out the power regulator for the dash. Before that they worked on my 88 Fiero that was concourse condition and when I came to pick it up the bumper was hit very hard and they took off a lot of paint. When I brought this up to Dennis he said I was trying to get a free paint job from them at first he said he would not pay for the damage. He only changed his mind after I told him we would go to court.
Yes, I know I should have never gone back after he hit my car, but I always try to give somebody a second chance. I swore off them after the dash blow up. I did not know my partner was going to have the car towed there. I tried to keep an eye on them but they just kept lying about what was wrong… They just do not know what they are doing. I am sure they can do something OK, but so far I have not found one thing they can do correctly except over charge and over bill for their own problems.
I am sure when Dennis see this he will be pissed off, but I have all of the papers to prove this. So if you use them BEWARE!!!
The only other thing he has going for them is the name of the busines that his father built.
