What? Pita King Express is open on Saturday night for dinner?! Stopped by tonight to try out some of their specialties with the help of the enthusiastic & knowledgable owner. So– Kings Fries– think decadent middle-eastern nachos(bring the family, it’s gigantic!) The falafel plate– with totally homemade falafels– yum, babaganoush so smokey, dolma so delicate… the tri-tip shwarma is delicious! Really enjoyed the meal– will be back

I came here once a few months ago. I was disappointed. But today… WOW. The shawarma was amazing. Huge portions, great taste incredible service. The house made hot sauce was excellent. Ordered the falafel, and chicken shawarma wrap. On point!!! Definitely give this place a try!

Very tasty lamb gyro topped with fresh veggies and some great tzatziki sauce. The small staff is very friendly. A very clean and simple dining area.

My family loves this place. The only disappointment is that they are only open for lunch. The owner told us that he would be opening for dinner but we have tried stopping by a couple of times and they haven’t been open in the evening. My daughter thinks they have the best salad and the rice is amazing. The portions are generous and everything tastes fresh! Just wish they would serve a different type of pita bread with their hummus. The pita is perfect for wraps but with hummus– you need a softer pita to go with their amazing hummus. They also did a nice job with updating the place. It look clean and shiny. Also the staff is very friendly and provided us a sample when we weren’t sure of how something would taste.

When I drove by and saw that this place had gone in where Chaco’s used to be, I made a mental note that I needed to drag my buddy there for lunch… so when the opportunity came up, we went. I’m not one to knock a business(especially a local one) down on the first visit, but I was very disappointed in my experience… and I know my buddy felt the same way. First off, $ 11 for a fast food plate of shawarma or gyro is a bit much. Same for the«King Fries», basically fries with your choice of meat, tahini sauce and some other sauce. We split the fries with chicken shawarma and the wrap($ 6.99) with gyro meat. Now you can see the shawarmas spinning and dripping on the spits behind the counter, but the spices tasted uncooked and were just plain overwhelming. Between that and the sauces on both, we could barely finish the wrap ands left half the fries… which should say a lot for a couple of guys that love to eat. Maybe a plate would be better if you add in the rice and salad to add some variety to the flavors, but again, $ 11 for plate of fast food is a bit much. They actually did a good job remodeling the old space. It’s clean and inviting. I wish the food was better and the prices weren’t so high. It would be a great lunch spot if it really was the(as their sign on the door self-proclaims) «the best Mediterranean food in Tucson» which, IMO, it’s not.

They stole my debit card info and charged my account a month after my last visit. Be careful folks. If you have to eat at Pita King, use cash.

Happen to be driving and took notice of this new food spot in the neighborhood. So i decided to eat lunch there for the first time. Arrived to a very friendly staff, and extremely clean establishment. I asked for a recommendation at the counter and ordered a half steak/chicken shawarma wrap. Steak and Chicken was juicy, tender and sauces were flavorful. The shwarma was definitely authentic, and all veggies were fresh. It was delicious! As I was enjoying my meal I was offered as a sample Laziza(apple malt beverage) it was great and complimented the meal well. Overall, a tasty and delicious meal. I intend on coming back to try other menu options.

I’m always looking for new middle eastern restaurants in the area. I happen to stumble upon this one on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I went with three other girls and we all loved the food we ordered. I ordered the salad, half chicken and half beef. It was tossed in a dressing and drizzled with three sauces. It was really fresh tasting and I loved the meats. We also ordered the shawarma fries. It’s basically the same thing as a salad just with fries and no dressing. But it had the same sauces that the salad had. Finally, the other two girls ordered their falafel plate. The falafel was nice and crunchy and the grape leaves were really tasty. The hummus was good, but the baba ganoush was okay — it tasted sweet which was weird. I’d definitely recommend this place. The owners are really nice. Plus, they give a lot of food for the money. Also, just in case anybody wanted to know, they do serve halal food :)

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! At first I was a little apprehensive because of the location, but that was quickly put to rest once I tried the food. I ordered the chicken pita with dolmas… delicious. FYI if you’ve never had Mediterranean food before… you will leave smelling like garlic but it was well with it!

Went to lunch there for the first time today. Heard good reviews from coworkers. Arrived to a very friendly staff. Ordered a steak shawarma wrap with a side of fries. Steak was juicy and tender. Sauces were flavorful. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Overall, a very satisfying meal. I intend on coming back to try other menu options.

I will start off by saying that I am very impressed with this restaurant. I have been to the Middle East several times and have learned to love Chicken Shawarma’s. My co-worker came back to work with the Chicken Shawarma plate yesterday and I couldn’t believe how much food there was for $ 10.99. I added on 3 extra pitas to my order. They were $ 0.49 each. The pitas were fresh and complimented the chicken. The chicken was moist and not too dry, it had a very slight smoked taste. The rice had a delicious poultry flavoring and was perfectly cooked. The side salad(romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber and red onions) was delicious and had a delicious parsley dressing on it. The hummus was delicious and was served with olive oil and paprika on it. The garlic paste was also delicious. I just wish it had came with two containers since they are small. My food was ready in about 5 minutes. The facility was upscale and modern. I honestly was not expecting it to be so nice since the building is so old. The color scheme is black and chrome. There are plenty of tables(great for large parties) and the drop down lights are a nice touch. The facility is very clean. There are highchairs for those with smaller children. The staff was very friendly. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door.

Very clean! ordered the beef shawarma wrap. It wasn’t horrible but I was expecting more flavor. The wrap meat was dry and the wrap itself needed more sauce. The female bathrooms were clean as well but unless you are using the handicapped stall, be prepared for an extremely tight squeeze. like your knees touching the stall door. I would return but not in hurry to.

Unbelievable pain from food poisoning(Oct 13, 2015)! The food was dry, overpriced and ill prepared. Two fellow co-workers and myself from DM decided to try them. I just moved here FROM Turkey so I know how it should be, taste and be delivered. Prior to joining the military I worked as a certified food inspector in Washington D.C. This place is currently masked with people getting lucky from foodborne illnesses; I and one co-worker wasn’t. On 10⁄13 we spent over $ 30.00 on three dishes. We both became violently sick. 12 hours later, numerous bathroom trips later, uncontrollable vomiting and severe abdominal pains, I can NOTRECOMMEND this facility! They have a number of menu items they need to bring up to par for production quality. I will present this to the management as see how they respond. Unfortunately, with the specific meat we chose, I fear it was contaminated with E-Coli. I DONOTRECOMMENDTHISFACILITY. v/r, Rob Jackson

Third time the charm? Damn straight! This time it was beef shawarma and humus plate… again…it was awesome. I’m not feeling particularly creative today, so this is about it. I eat there weekly. Screw you waistline!

place was very clean and décor modern. staff was very friendly. food however… the chicken shawarma was a disappointment. when you are expecting that familiar flavor and it turns out to be very bland. I couldn’t detect any of the usual spices this dish is known for. Spice it up pita king. the salad was very over dresses and not fresh. they put a condiment container in the take out box with some white thick sticky substance I had no idea what it was. on a good note the rice was good and so was the hummus

As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the staff. I walked up and I was informed on the food and recommended a plate which I loved since its food I’m not yet familiar with. Everything is clean and well organized with plenty of space to sit comfortably! The food was delicious and tasted very fresh. The meat was absolutely delicious and would practically melt with every bite! I was so impressed with this restaurant especially since its its first week since they’ve opened! I’ve never left a place with so much urge to go back that every time going out to eat is brought up I only want to come here. They are only open for lunch for now but I definitely recommend it to all my friends!
