If I could give this place less than one star I would. I just needed a box to stay for the night. It worked for that but by far don’t expect quality at all. What prompted me to write this review is how freakin rude the staff is. The breakfast is nothing but cereal and a toaster. Stay away from this place

I booked a room thru Travelosity at the Howard Johnsons in Tucson and was really happy I got such a good rate. But then I arrived and the nightmare began. The front desk guy didnt ask for a credit card or ID and he checked me in by taking a picture of my printed itinerary with his phone. Kinda odd but whatever. Listed are the good/bad of this hell hole… oops I mean hotel. GOOD: Ummm… hmmm… give me a few I’m sure ill think of something. Well go back to that. BAD: the whole place stinks horribly, trash was piled up outside(see photo), the bathroom wall had blood splattered all over, ice machines are moldy, the beds were lumpy, the tv would get better reception with a wire hanger or tin foil, there’s no iron coffee pot or clock in the room as they claim, its $ 15 if you want a frig or microwave, the power cords had been spliced together, the internet signal isn’t consistent, the breakfast is stale cereal with warm milk, the business center doesn’t work, the nonenglish speaking yard guy is very creepy, the curtains don’t stay shut so there’s always a way to peep in(which is how I determined the yard guy is creepy), and I could go on for days about how nasty this place was but ill stop now! ;) Ah-ha! I thought of something positive to say… they dont charge extra for late check out, in case you want to extend your punishment a little longer. :)

What everyone else said. This place was terrible. The sink was falling from the wall and the shower was cracked and had black mold growing in it. When I checked in, the manager was on the phone with a guest arguing with the person saying that they couldn’t move or get a refund because it had been over 15 minutes since they checked in. He never said hello or or thanks or anything like that, and was just miserable looking both times I went to the front desk. When I went to get ice, a homeless man came staggering up to me from behind the building talking loudly to himself. The TV had bad reception, and everything was real old and in bad shape.

We reserved 3 non smoking rooms, we arrived at approx. 2 pm. When we arrived we checked in and went to our rooms. Room #1 cigarette ashes in sink, blow dryer did not work, only 3 channels on tv that worked. Room # 2 door separating this room and room next door did not lock, found out next day this room had bed bugs(stopped counting after 21 bites), only 4 channels on tv worked. Room # 3 room key did not work, went back to office they zapped key again still did not work, switched rooms again room key did not work, switched rooms a third time room key worked on third room switched to, but A/C did not work and only 3 channels on tv. Finally switched for the 4th time and everything was ok. When we switched rooms 4 times had to go back to office for them to copy my drivers license for a 2nd time, I was talking to lady at front desk when another person came in and interrupted us and she took care of them before finishing with us(extremely rude), I then asked to be compensated for the hassles we went through and she blew me off. I then called the corporate offices and they told me it would be a week before anybody called me. I will be calling them every day until I get an answer. DONOTSTAYHEREATANYCOST.

Hard to put into words how decrepit this place was, but I’m gonna give it a shot. The general state of disrepair, trash-filled pool and drug deal adjacent to the main lobby were enough to make my party pretty nervous, but what sealed the deal was an inexplicable pile of chewed and dried egg noodles on the floor of one of our rooms. Photo posted for your pleasure! Worse than anything I could have imagined, but DAMN if I don’t have a fantastic story to tell the friends back home. Admittedly still curious what was in the«Cactus Room,» –C

Do not stay here! The room was filthy, the a/c unit put out a horrible smell, the grounds were unkempt and littered with cigarette butts, and the so called continental breakfast was nothing but white toast and cold cereal. The low price was still too high for the quality! Even the swimming pool needed repair as where the paint on the bottom was missing, it was so slippery you could not stand up! RUNNEXTDOORTOTHEMOTEL6! PAYTHEEXTRA $ 4 A NIGHT!

HORRIBLE! DONOTGOHERE! I turned on the shower and waited for the water to warm by then the tub was so flooded i could have tooken a bubble bath the sick thing is that the water was not even clear! I went to go brush my teeth and the sink was also flooding! Disgusting!!! We went to motel 6 which is next door the next morning and it was WAY better for the same price. Do yourself a favor and go to Motel 6 or ANYWHERE else!

This is one of the grosser and less comfortable places I’ve ever stayed. The room was apparently a smoking room and smelled terrible. Between the smell and the terrible bed, I had very minimal and poor sleep. The woman who checked us in was nice enough and no one broke into our car… so there’s that…

Cheap hotel. Ok rooms, ok staff, not very clean but not disgusting. I didn’t see any sketchy behavior around the premises as others mentioned. Free wifi didn’t work with my Mac but did work with my iPhone. HBO and limited channels. Pool is out of order. Don’t get your hopes up, there are nice cheap hotels and terrible cheap hotels, this is just a mediocre to poor rating cheap hotel.

Cheap, but not a typical hojo. Very rundown. The free breakfast included only cold cereal and white bread toast… I think motel 6 or travelodge would have been better.

Do not go here — there are a ton of other places to lodge all around this place. So many people are giving Arizona a bad name these days. (The rooms are what you would expect when you don’t expect much, but the beds were not standard queen size, they were like full, which is bad if there are 3 – 4 people sharing 2 beds. It was also annoying that only one light switch controlled like every light in the place other than the interior bathroom.) The worst thing was some of the blatantly racist staff. I showed up early one Sunday for the continental breakfast, where there were 4 or 5 other people eating, and was asked for my room key. I asked why and they said that it was to ensure that I was a guest. I have been to about 30 of these tiny free continental breakfasts at hotels in my lifetime, but this was a first. Still, it was not an unreasonable request, I thought, so i showed my card. I sat at breakfast and watched person after person after person enter and pass the staff to get breakfast. Absolutely NO other person was asked for their room card. We are talking about 20 people. What was the difference between me and all of them? Easy, I was Brown and all of them were White– a sadly consequential difference.…They have bigger problems than worrying about people showing up to steal a cheap breakfast.
