Bentley’s House of Coffee & Tea

This is mine and my friend’s favorite place for breakfast/​lunch in Tucson. All of the employees are fantastic and the food is always a+. They have tons of options for vegans/​vegetarians/​regular people & a very hip customer base. Stay golden duders.

I was greeted upon walking in and was also helped to arrange tables for our big group. My kids really liked their eggs and turkey bacon! My breakfast burrito was really good too! My mocha tasted more than hot chocolate but it was still tasty. Wi-​Fi is available and they had a nice mixture in their patrons so no one should feel out of place. They had young moms, older women, college students, and a hipster on his type writer (LOL! I’m not kidding!)
Overall, I shall return!

Could be a great little breakfast, but lacking in ability to prepare orders as requested. A side of bacon does not mean crumbled and mixed in with your eggs and a bagel lightly toasted with butter does not mean toasted to be as hard as a rock with no butter. Second try on the bagel yielded one that may have been toasted less than 10 seconds so that the butter never melts. And when you order drinks you shouldn’t have to ask for them 3? times. Hope this helps others.

I had mixed feelings about this place. The ambiance was pretty interesting and I loved the toy dinosaurs that you keep at your table until your food is delivered. They do have a nice selection of vegetarian options and an interesting selection of extras you can add to your breakfast dish.
The food we had was pretty solid. I ordered the breakfast tacos while my girlfriend had the breakfast burrito. I liked the chills and jalapenos in the tacos, but it was overall kinda missing something for me. I kinda wish they had some bacon or sausage options for the breakfast tacos or burrito. That being said, the sample I had of my girlfriend’s breakfast burrito was pretty good. I did like the spinach in there.
What soured our experience somewhat were our drinks. Both my chai tea and her mocha tasted pretty watery. They weren’t terrible, but they were pretty light and it kinda bugged us.
Overall, I think I would try this Bentley’s again. There’s a few breakfast items that looks pretty good and I’m also curious to try some of the sandwiches.

Recently ate here and had the delicious Tofu Pie :) Everything is great! But when I asked for the ingredients I was disappointed to hear they use Margarine as a ingredient. It’s a great Vegan Pie, but I would definitely consider using something other than Margarine. This is the only reason why I gave 3 stars and except this everything was great!

I love this place — the vibe, the colorful paintings, funky, comfortable vibe, pleasant servers, wide variety of drinks of all kinds and delicious pastry — what more do you want? Wonderful place to spent your morning while waiting for your UofA student to wake up. Great for kids too.

Bentley’s is a staple for a quick breakfast or lunch for me. I recently tried the tamale scramble for the first time and it was very delicious. Think green chile and corn tamale smashed together with scrambled eggs, then served with beans and potatoes. There’s a variety of things to choose from between just a bagel with some cream cheese to the scramble to building your own breakfast sandwiches. Plus, your table marker is a dinosaur figurine… who wouldn’t like that?

Why wait in the endless lines at Starbucks for an insipid cup of joe when Bentley’s has it all right next to campus?
The service is the best, and the baristas & staff are the absolute sweetest. They genuinely care about their customers and have a real interest in promoting the community feel Tucson is so great for. I love all the local art that’s featured every month as well as the fun, quirky touches, like plastic dinosaurs instead of order numbers, that give this place an especially warm and welcoming vibe.
Their ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible, which I really appreciate. Their coffee beans are freshly roasted by a small, local producer for a delicious drink every time. The menu really accommodates those of all dietary preferences. Personally, I think their vegetarian sausage breakfast burritos are the best & their cold brew coffee can’t be beat.

They take credit cards now! Good coffee, good treats, good sandwiches!

I spent $ 20 for two people, burrito and willows platter. Food was definitely not worth that amount. I know most people would associate value with the amount of food you get. However, I believe in supporting small mom and pop establishments. If the food is unique and flavorful, then I’ll keep coming back even if I have to pay a few dollars extra. The platter and burrito I received was basically a few pieces of potatoes, beans over scrambled eggs– all bland. I guess a food establishment serving mediocre plates should have at least a nice atmosphere… Nope. Friendliness from the staff was lacking, and it looked like the «regulars» were mostly snobby university students hogging tables from incoming customers. My tip– stay home and cook your own food.

Great coffee and several good vegan food selections. Service is friendly and prompt. They will substitute tofu for most dishes. It would be better if they got a vegan sausage as the one they use is a commercial brand which contains egg and is not vegan despite what the counter servers believe is the case. There’s usually a vegan option in the dessert case as well. Wifi is available and music is pretty hip. Good basic brunch place.

This is a great little coffee house located very near to the University.
The drinks and food are okay, not the best I’ve had but good. The interior has plenty of places to sit and chat or do work.
Since it’s a coffeehouse and a great place to hang out, be aware that it can get noisy in here.
One of my favorite things about this place is that they showcase artwork from local artists for free! It’s fun to go in and see the new artwork every few weeks.
The only big negative is the parking lot is too small. But if needed you can always park somewhere in one of the UA lots as long as it’s after 5 pm or usually anytime during the weekends unless there’s a special event or something.

Deserves 5 stars for vegetarians and vegans! One of Tucson’s oldest coffee houses. Every dessert I’ve had here has been absolutely delicious. The food is pretty good. Their coffee and teas are very good.
The ambience is fun. Large café style, many tables, also outdoor seating.

Bentley’s is a friendly, home-​y café with great coffee and plenty of vegetarian options. If you’re in during peak UA hours it can get busy, but it’s never too crowded.
I reccomend trying the coffee cake – it’s only $ 3 and the portion is about as big as a small piece of pie. Its a great place to sit and read or to meet a friend/​colleague.

This is a nice cozy place. The food was great and plentiful, my only perk is their apple pie, I have tasted way better pies in Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, I had the Tuna sandwich and that was great.
The dinosaurs are a great touch, it is great to have a quick bite near U of A

Excellent vegan breakfast burrito special on the weekends — $ 6 includes small drink. I think this is one of the healthiest and cheapest breakfasts out there. Excellent ingredients prepared well.
Staff is kind and atmosphere is decent.

My wife and I went here a while ago and the few things I remember about the place was that the coffee was «meh» and the place was a little dirty. And I’m pretty sure there was a condom machine in the men’s bathroom. Not kidding…
However; we ordered some pie and it was fantastic! Apparently an independent baker provides the baked goods.

I really do love Bentley’s. It hurts me to give them 3-​stars. Bentley’s is a comfortable place for hunkering down for several hours of work, or for meeting friends over breakfast, lunch, brunch, coffee, afternoon snacking, dinner, whatever. For me, it’s my favorite outside-​of-​school spot to do my mountains of work. On most Sundays you’ll see folks running stats, grading papers or reading mountains of articles, while others are enjoying laughter and friendship. Good mix.
But I just can’t bring myself to rave about it. The coffee is pretty good, the cuban is quite enjoyable. I love the vegan treats — now there’s something to rave about. The downfall is thus — the service is so crazy slow that it really suits the I’m-staying-here-for-several-hours crowd. I’ve waited 30 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese. I’ve stood at the counter for over 3 minutes waiting for someone to come out and take my order. Half of the staff rocks and is super sweet, and half of the staff looks so bored and annoyed out of their minds.
This is why I am torn. The food is good, they have daily specials which are neat. I’m a veg, so they meet my needs. I REALLY like the music they play. I can work well here. But it’s just not stellar. I dunno, try it for yourself, that’s what I’d say — just make sure you have plenty of time on your hands.

Hands down, Bentley’s is one of my top three cafes in Tucson. First, Café Passé. Third, my neighborhood Starbucks.
I’ve been frequenting Bentley’s since I was an undergraduate.
I love that this is a local spot that also supports the local community. They have rotating art on the walls by some of Tucson’s painters, graphic artists and multi-​media creators. They compost. They have ceiling fans. They have these amazing large-​sized glass windows that are just perfect for daydreaming in the middle of a study session. And the décor is café-​true — mismatched tables, color clash, free and reliable WIFI and always full of readers, writers, thinkers and dreamers.
The menu also is fantastic. That’s another thing I love about Bentley’s — it’s an awesome spot for brunch or lunch AND studying. That combination is often hard to come by in Tucson. Either you get one option or the other, or the tables and ambiance are so uncomfortable that you wonder how the owner can hold down a clientele at all.
Back to Bentley’s.
I love the lox, the salads and the breakfast burrito and scramble. I love that they offer a ton of extras and a range of sides. They also have a ton of vegan and vegetarian options. Sweets? They have those to, and yes — even for vegans. They have the staple coffee and tea, in addition to smoothies and freezes.
They even have a play area for the little ones in the back, or you bigger ones who want to remember what it was like to be a 3-​year-​old.
The only downfalls: The soups are sometimes very light on the flavor. I had the Mexican avocado soup and almost reached for the salt. All that to say that, yes, this is clean eating. Does a body good.
Also, the place can get crazy, insane noisy on the weekends, often when people feel inclined to let their children run all over the place. I mean, all over the place.
