B & C Towing

A Case of Highway Robbery?
Cheap, but not cheap!!! Cheap in the sense of pure pettiness, small-​mindedness, meanness, nastiness, etc. Not cheap in that the bill was $ 220.00 for B & C Towing absconding our vehicle and leaving us no other option than paying this ransom fee to obtain our car once again.
Farcical and farcical to the max! My wife, sister-​in-​law, and I had gone to a presentation of «The Mikado» held at the University of Arizona’s Crowder Hall on Saturday, November 14^th at 7:30 p.m. As you may know, that musical is a farce of significant proportions, set in late 19^th Century Japan, but in many ways still very appropriate to human nature, both political and civil, anywhere today. Prior to heading over to attend the performance, I parked in the Arizona Credit Union parking lot on 1001 N. Park Ave. I have parked in this particular area innumerable times on weekends and during the evenings after the business is closed. The parking lot is very close to Crowder Hall and, not that I’m opposed to getting some exercise, there is the matter of convenience and sensibility that, more often than not, prevails in my being. I never park there when business is in session and perfectly realizing that that business is immediately adjacent to the U of A, I can understand why there are signs to warn problematic students during the day (when the credit union is doing business) that their cars may be towed. I understand that!
Additionally, it may be mentioned that with my sister-​in-​law joining us, she being afflicted with M. S, the issue of convenience had taken a more heightened reality on this evening. I had dropped the ladies off across the street from the credit union between the Manzanita residence hall and the U of A’s Drama Department. It was much, much easier for them to access Crowder Hall from this point. I then backed out of that spot and merely drove across the street to park in the credit union parking lot. It was after 7 p.m. on this Saturday night (11/​14/​2015).
We went to the performance and had a lovingly, moving, hilarious time of it all. Following the last curtain call, I told my compatriots that I would go fetch the car and then meet them where I’d earlier dropped them off. It was going to take a bit of time for them to amble out to the site I’d let them off at three hours earlier. I tromped across Park Ave. and could not find the car where I’d left it in the parking lot. Had it been stolen??? Years ago (18 or so), I’d had another vehicle stolen, allegedly by gang members, while we were in downtown Tucson attending another dramatic/​musical performance. We went to the Police Department and filed a report and fortunately, amazingly, the car was retrieved about a week later and, beyond a stereo being ripped out of the vehicle, the car was not in bad shape.
Were we reliving a similar experience in November 2015? I went back and found my wife and sister-​in-​law and told them what I’d observed at the credit union (and missed! – Our car was very absent!). We phoned the Police Department, explaining what I’d experienced, they checked their files, and then informed us that the car had been towed by B & C Towing. We explained the situation to them and while they were sympathetic, they said there was nothing they could do about it. They gave us the phone number to B & C Towing. We did call them and the person on the phone said there was nothing they could do for us at that time (11 p.m.) and that we would have to call them in the morning! We ended up calling a taxi and were able to make it home in a very inconvenienced (and costlier than we’d originally anticipated) manner.
The next day, through repeated calls and cajoling pleas, we were able to get our car after we had to pay $ 220 to release the car from B & C Towing’s confinement. This was, to say the least, a pain in the arse. It all was very troubling! True, now this is nearly two months after the travesty occurred to us, but it’s still negatively offensive and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Yes, there was also a U of A football game taking place that night (a far piece from the credit union and the theater) and there was relatively heavy traffic around the U of A. Yes, people may have been interested in hitting the bar scene along University Blvd. Was the capture of our vehicle an example of somewhat selective predatory behavior on the part of B & C Towing in cahoots with Arizona Credit Union? Methinks so! What a corrupt collusion of extremely deleterious action perpetrated by these two entities in conjunction with one another. Accomplices to the same crime! There were other automobiles situated in the parking lot that evening and they were unmolested. Only ours and another couple’s (the U of A’s orchestra director and his wife) car had been confiscated by B & C Towing that night. Was this an horrendous example of highway robbery in an urban setting? I think an argument could be made for that definition!

The worst towing company in the world! Open 24h is such a bullshit. I was waiting at their locked entrance gate at 8:50am and called them to open the gate for me. They told me they would not open it until 9:00am. I told them it was too hot outside and begged them to open it a little bit early for me, and then the guy hung up the phone. I was so pissed off. I wish this company would go bankruptcy tomorrow, so that less people would get insulted by them.

Worst place ever!!! Owner Jason (or he said he was the owner) is a royal AH! We called for a tow service at 2:30pm and spoke to a very nice woman (think it was Lilly) who took all of our info and we found a safe place to leave our car since she said it would be about a 3 hour wait. We got a ride home and left it there. After 4 hours my husband called and got Jason over the phone and was trying to explain nicely we had been waiting for 4 hours, but he started asking us for the same info we already gave them (car info, location, etc…), and my husband reiterated that it had been 4 hours, and Jason’s reply was to use another tow company and he hung up. We attempted to call back to ask what the heck happened to our earlier call and Jason refused to help us. We have this service through our insurance agent Tracy Mitchell and plan to publicly blast this man and his company practices on every review site as well as BBB and Consumer Affairs. Do NOT do business with this man!

I had car trouble one night while out with friends. I called my road side assistance and they sent B&C Towing out. They said it would be 45 minutes but they actually showed up in ten minutes. The driver was very friendly and helpful. These guys have a tough job and have to deal with angry people every day. It was a nice surprise to get such great service and in such a timely manner.

Nobody is ready to see their vehicle missing from the last place they parked it.
Please, call 911 or your local Non-​Emergency number, as every towing company is required to report the car as being towed immediately when they hook it up. The 911 dispatcher will look up by your license plate and confirm the company who towed your vehicle. They will have the number and address of the towing company.

B & C is run by what seems to be two people, both very eccentric but also focused on their business. They offer to let you retrieve your car on Sunday, and the cost wont surpass $ 240. Some drivers may drop your car if you provide $ 100 on the spot. and sometimes allow you to get the cash from an ATM. The desk woman is very pleasant and understands most of her customers are upset and confused. She handled our transaction peacefully. The man who would seem to be the owner is also very dedicated to his business and the double-​wide empire he has built on the lot of 547 W Lester St.
Most establishments will have the parking policy clearly posted, and B&C would not tow without good cause. The vehicle driver usually ends up being the person at fault, like many parking issues, ignorance does not exempt us from the law or policy in effect. We should learn to own up to our mistakes or oversight and not seek out scapegoats to blame for our transgressions.
We don’t expect to become clients of opportunistic businesses such as B&C, however the establishments and properties we visit may have parking rules that are enforced by ever vigilant tow truck drivers. We cannot control this, but both the tow company office staff and their unknowing customers can suck it up and handle the transaction like adults with respect and get out ahead.
A word to the wise: approach B&C with respect, treat their employees well and expect similar in return.

No point in really reviewing them, since they are just hired by other organizations like — Miramonte at the River — to tow people’s car without warning.
The only complaint is the extreme rude manner in which they conduct business. Granted many angry people call, they are still rude to everyone without reason. They even threaten to shut down on Sunday, insisting they were doing you favor by coming in on that day.
If you had a problem with these people, I highly recommend filing a complaint with the BBB and/​or Attorney General Office.
