Advantage Air Mechanical

This company is a completely unethical provider. We contacted them to fix our office AC system, They came out told us the warranty was up, ordered parts, came out it worked ofr a day. They came out again — charged us a lot of $ and said this time it was another part. Charged us for the part, ordered it, installed a few days later. This happened approx 4 times, each time being charged for labor and a «new part» that was bad. The AC would work a day or two and then the same old thing. Finally we hired another large company to come out. Who advised us that the entire unit was STILL UNDER WARRANTY and in fact found the one part that needed to be replaced, promptly ordered it FREE under warranty and fixed the problem. WE spent in excess of $ 1000 for replacement parts with this SCAM of a company who lied to us about not having a warranty. The original owner of this company was a decent person, his spoiled rotten son took over and is driving it into the ground. Do business with any other company and you’ll be safer.

I wish zero stars was an option. They took 8 visits to get or heat pump correct. They installed in backwards, forgot to inspect it, promised repairs… In the end I was without a working heat pump for 30 days. Worst experience ever.

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with an AC company– or any company! Unfortunately, they’re the contractor covered through our home warranty, but we have waited for almost 3 weeks and our AC is still broken. After being told that a coil needs to be replaced, they called and told me the «good news” — the home warranty company wanted to replace our entire system! 3 days later, they changed their story and claimed that no one ever said they would replace our unit, and they still don’t know when they’ll be able to repair the AC. I’ve left several messages for the manager with no response, I’ve been brushed off time after time, and I still don’t have an answer. I would NEVER recommend this company. Horrible customer service.

I called ⁹⁄₃ they came out fri 9 – 5 it is now Monday and I’ve been without any type of cooling going on day 6. Every time I ask to speak to mgmt they are in a meeting. Horribly service from American home shield and advantage air mechanical. Pick different companies

Our Ac went out ⁷⁄₁₀ on a Thursday. I have American Home Shield warranty so I called them and they sent me the worst AC guys in Pima county
We had the Advantage Air Mechanical AC guy at our house Monday 3 days later on ⁷⁄₁₄ and he said we had to much voltage going to our AC unit? AHS had an electrician come Bill Richards Electric over ⁷⁄₁₅ and he said that the AC guy was just blowing us off so he could get home since we were his last stop of the day. So again I called AHS and they sent out the same company and the same tech the following Thursday ⁷⁄₁₇. He went through my system and said he found a leak in a valve not my (coil)and it would take a few days to get the part. He also said we were out of freon and that it needed 12 pounds and the freon would cost me $ 650. He also took my fully programmable thermostat off the wall and put some piece of garbage up and mounted it crooked,. The Advantage Air. Mechanical guy parked in my driveway and leaked oil all over it. Okay I am back on the phone with AHS and ask what can be done to get this part and get it expedited so my family can have AC again. Ahs calls Advantage and tell them it is priority. Well no one called me Friday or Saturday so I called my own AC guy 7/​19, Guess what the new AC company checked my whole system and found out my Evaporator Coil was leaking! Evans replaced the coil on 7/​22, If I had allowed Advantage to Continue it would have took 20 days to fix and I would have still been without AC. Advantage tech had no clue what the problem was and would have continued to guess instead of preforming the proper system checks.

They came out 6 times… Yes 6 times to try and fix my AC. When I called to try and speak to management about correcting the issue all I could ever get was the receptionist who could leave a message, and someone would call back soon. I never got a call back from them. Also for calling back; the last time my AC broke over the weekend so I called the after hours support line, left 7 voicemails, with no one returning a call. I also see with other people’s reviews that most were referred by Home Shield. I personally feel that both Home Shield and Advantage Air are at the same level of competency 0.

The AC in my home was broken and I needed to get it fixed ASAP because it was the middle of summer in Tucson.
They gave me a four hour time window for when the repair person would arrive which seemed longer than most other services that have 2 – 3 hour time windows.
They ended up not showing up at all. When I called to ask if somebody was coming they were rude and did not seem to know what I was even asking. They never answered my question.
I would not recommend Advantage Air Mechanical to my worst enemy because they do not prioritize customer service and they never showed up to fix my AC at all.

Worst service ever. Sent out by our American Home Shield service as an emergency for a cracked frozen pipe to our well. Did the sloppiest non-​repair job ever. AHS sent them back out (got the same unfriendly, didn’t give a damn repairman who left to get a part he claimed he needed and didn’t come back for 6 hours. He did a messy, incorrectly repaired amateur job. We hired another company to come in who professionally repaired it correctly and verbalized their amazement on how badly the pipes had been attempted to be repaired. Don’t use this company.

This is a joke of a company! They never call back. When you do call you are on hold forever. They are slow as heck! They didn’t even fix the air conditioner and now I have to wait again! I’m stuck using them as I am a renter and the owner uses Home Shield. Which they only use chop shop people! PS they leave messes behind too! PS don’t «buy» the commercial ads!!!

The initial visit had an someone come over who didn’t even work for the company… some kind of independent contractor… it’s busy out there I guess… middle of the summer in Tucson.
20 days later they had to come out again, and this time we got someone who actually worked for the company. He was extremely helpful and took care of the real cause of the problem, a bad motor for the blower, which what was what had caused the capacitor to need to be replaced in the 1^st place.
So 3 things kept me from rating this company worse (and I’m not even sure a 2 star rating wouldn’t be more appropriate!).
1. Their 30 day guarantee
2. Our American Home Shield contract
3. The worker they sent out to take care of the job like it should have been taken care of in the 1^st place.
One more complaint has to be shared. We called on a Saturday and the recorded message said that if it was an emergency to leave a message. 2 days later WE HAD TO CALL THEM!!! Fortunately they were able to come out on Monday and we were happy with the results.
This company was who AHS uses, so we complied, and in the end, they fixed the problem, but…
If I need help from them again, I would certainly ask for Josh and make sure my A/​C goes out during the week… LOL!

Is there such a thing as zero stars? If so, these guys have earned it. First tech came to my house on Saturday for a cooler service and after my 4^th trip to the hardware store on his behalf he departed with the job not completed. The following Friday when the second tech shows up his first comment is «you didn’t tell me you had 3 coolers» like that was our job? How about a little internal communication with your prior tech or even the dispatcher. These guys were rude and incompetent. I would never call them again for any reason.

Bottom line – these guys caused more damage to my unit than fixing it!
My heater wasn’t working right. I got hooked up with these guys through my home warranty company. The tech came out Friday and told me the reversing valve was stuck. When he left the thermostat was blinking P– but he said since the unit wouldn’t heat anyway it was OK. They put on the ticket and told me that they would be back on Tuesday to fix it (it was a 3-​day weekend). On Tuesday I called and found out they hadn’t gotten it authorized. I called again, still no authorization just assurances they would call me. Wednesday I call and still no authorization. Finally talk to them that afternoon and they say they got the authorization and part and would be out the NEXT morning between 9 – 11. The tech comes out just before 10 the next morning. Never asks or looks at thermostat. I told him it wasn’t working right and he said it was OK, he could start it from the roof (where unit is). I asked him after an hour how long it would take and he tells me 4 hours. That was the first I heard about the length of the repair. I asked him @ the HACKSAW he had out and he said he was having to cut out the old part but it would be OK. I told him I had to leave to take my son to a doctor appointment. He said he would make sure the unit was working from the roof and then I could reprogram the thermostat when I got home. The company told me they wanted $ 275 to clean the coils while he was there! I said no way and called a local company that is well known. They came out that afternoon to clean the coils ($ 80). When they came out they told my husband that the unit hadn’t been closed properly and then looked at the thermostat and told him it was «fried». The work order from the new company was explicit in it’s detail and showed the ridiculous number of things the first company damaged.
They were supposed to be back out here 7 – 9 this morning, it is 9 and the tech called to say he would be another hour! He asked about us having another company look at the unit and actually laughed! I stopped him and explained they came out to clean the coils but found the thermostat not working. The tech had the audacity to try to argue with me. I told him he may have gotten the unit working but whatever his guys did fried my thermostat and it needed to be fixed. He was rude and I am not looking forward to having to deal with him. When he was out yesterday he walked through my house and never once asked to look at the thermostat.
Once this is done I’ll update with the outcome.
