I’ve had bigger lunch portions in the area for a lower price, I got some bad cuts of chicken, the yum yum sauce is a little to sweet and they didn’t offer enough of it without an extra charge. Don’t know if I’ll be going back.

I have been here a few times for sushi and I would say the sushi and food here is just average. The sushi rolls were decent but not the best I’ve had. They do have lots of choices for people who doesn’t eat raw sushi, like me. They also have hibachi dishes but I’ve never ordered it. The other items like fried rice, noodles, appetizers are good — but again, nothing spectacular. The restaurant is quite small, casual and dark. The price is about right and service is always fast and friendly.

The Asian waitress here is one of the worst waitresses I ever had. The 1st time i came here I requested no masago on my sushi and my sushi had masago on it. I thought well let me give this a 2nd try and the same waitress served us. She assumed I wanted my lunch to be started after my co workers lunch. I cancelled my order. I will not be back here. The misou soup is not good and the service is worse. Good luck with getting good service coming here.

I really enjoy this place. Sushi made fresh in front of you at the sushi bar. The hibachi dishes are great as well. Prices are in line with other sit down Japanese restaurants that don’t include the tableside show. It loses 1 star only for the fact the drink choices are fairly limited and their house special iced green tea is somewhat watered down. Though if you’re feeling a little silly they do offer Ramune.

Besides the service, I have nothing good to say about this place. It’s hibachi fast food and bad even for that. I love ginger salad and couldn’t eat this one. I did like the noodles they served with hibachi. The price is way too high for the quality although they did give a nice portion of meat. $ 18 for the steak and chicken, another $ 2 if you want fried rice. That same meal with infinitely better quality is $ 11 at a place called Osaka in Cumming. I’d rather drive that distance than go here again. Sorry to be so harsh because the servers were good, but I don’t care how bad my Japanese craving is, I won’t go back here.

Great Tucker neighborhood sushi/hibachi spot! i love how they have many choices for«non-raw» sushi eater like me. i always get the pink panther and baked salmon roll. And i think the hibachi is the best around here, no gimmick, no chef throwing food in my face, just good food served by a friendly server to my table. And the best part: they give you a bottle of YumYum sauce when you order hibachi, Yummmmy…

I love the service here. The servers are always friendly and attentive. I usually get the pink panther roll and the chix stix, but the hibachi options are good. I love the hibachi noodles that come with full dinners, even though I rarely get hibachi. There is a sushi bar, table seating and booth seating.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now, the sushi is very mediocre. You could get something similar at the Kroger across the street. And why have tea on the menu if it’s not real? A tea bag is not acceptable to serve at a dining establishment. We tried ordering take out online, but their website has been nonfunctional for quite some time. And the walls… are this horrid orange… not helpful at stimulating my appetite. I suppose to those who don’t know good sushi, this place would be acceptable. But it you have higher standards, I’d say you can skip it.

My cousin and I stopped by for a quick lunch since I had a scoutmob offer here. The restaurant is pretty tiny, with a single, large hibachi grill towards the back of the restaurant. Although the service was good and prompt, the whole atmosphere was more of casual fast food feel to it. I ordered the hibachi chicken and my cousin the hibachi steak. Both entrees came with soup and rice as well as a spring roll. Everything was pretty decent although average and I liked that the hibachi didn’t have a ton of sweet sauce ladled on top. I didn’t get a chance to try any sushi though. After the meal, I tried using Scoutmob, but the offer was only for dinner; something my server didn’t mention until much later.

There were both things to like and things to not like about this hybrid hibachi style Japanese restaurant and suchi bar. I went with no expectation, meeting my wife late last night. The service was very good and the server very knowledgeable about the food they serve, especially the fish and sushi(I listened as she explained some cuts unfamiliar to another table). I’ve seen the restaurant before traveling through Tucker — it’s in the shopping center directly across from the Kroger/Walmart on Lawrenceville Hwy(there’s also a Firehouse sandwich place and a Starbucks with a drive-through on the left). The restaurant has a sushi bar on the left wall and then tables lining the right. They serve wine, sake and beer. At the end opposite the entry is an interesting hibachi grilling surface where the hibachi chef prepares any dishes requiring that type of cooking. This is from where my term«hybrid» comes — the restaurant’s focus is on the food rather than the show — you won’t find spinning knives and over-flowing volcano onions here. The restaurant was very clean and on the minimalistic side, with some interesting Ikea-made ceramic and wood bottles to dispense soy sauce — I liked the no-nonsense, lets eat and enjoy each other ambience of the place. I can’t qualify the sushi as I did not have any fish — I’ve been dieting and wanted to forego the rice calories. I thought about sashimi but decided to go with the teriyaki chicken instead. The dish comes with a side of veggies, white rice, soba noodles, soup and salad. The salad was the typical crispy iceberg slightly garnished, covered with ginger dressing(very typical of other hibachi-style restaurants — you’ve probably had it before). The soup was basically a beef and onion broth with small bits of barley at the bottom — this is also common. The chicken was tender and not over-sauced(a problem I’ve found at other teppanyaki restaurants — the teppan is the metal cooking surface and teppanyaki is what this type of cooking is called). I asked to double up on the veggies instead of rice — this is where the meal fell down a bit as the veggies had too-little cook on them. Ideally veggies made in this style should be lightly cooked, but the onion more on the translucent side so you get more of a sweetness instead of a hit of strong onion flavor — also the carrots were just hard. Back in the 80’s I worked as a hibachi chef so I’m a bit paticular with this type of cooking(in general I don’t order it as more of these restaurants know how to cook it bad rather than good — when catering to American tastes it ends up being too salty, too saucy, etc). My wife went with the Teriyaki bento box — this contained a small salad portion(similar to what I got), tempura including 1 shrimp, an onion ring and two other lightly fried veggies, white rice, one nori roll(appeared to be california roll from the avocado), and a pile of teriyaki meat. I tasted the meat as it came out first — it was a bit dry compared to what I ended up with but good. It took her longer to finish(of course) and she liked what she received — she’s also probably pickier than me and admitted that she was willing to come back — a good sign. When I go off this diet(I’m doing this as part of an experiment until Mar 1) I’ll return and try the sushi. The most negative thing we experienced, and perhaps this is just a quibble to most — we got there late and they started to mop the floors while we were eating — the smell of bleach was overpowering. We’ve seen this before, now with 3 – 4 restaurants, pretty much all of them Asian. Having worked in the restaurant business, I can understand both the employees’ and business’ need to complete closing tasks and get out as quickly as possible, but to introduce an unpleasant smell while people are eating is inexcusable. This affected my review more than anything. For hibachi style food, the prices were extremely reasonable — the bento box was around $ 9 – 10 and the teriyaki chicken around $ 11 – 12. They also had a few specials that seemed very reasonably priced, including a lunch bento box at around $ 7. I used a ScoutMob and saved 50%(up to $ 15) — if you use one also, look at your receipt as they added an 18% tip(which was stated on the ScoutMob). I bumped it up to my usual 20% since the service was so good. If you’re looking to try inexpensive Japanese cooking, this is the place to go, especially for Tucker. Although I didn’t try the fish, what I saw at other tables looked very fresh — I’m going with that next time. And maybe some sake. And maybe a beer or 3…
