Although it is on the pricier side this place is great. My husband’s work has their Christmas party here and it was excellent. The server was fantastic, the food was beyond delicious and the cocktails weren’t bad either. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.

I used to come here all the time and eat with my dad but we haven’t went for awhile after tonight I will never come here again the food is outrageously priced and my father’s burger was so under cooked it made the bun greasy and bloody the very cheapest thing on the menu is 16 $ I had to get apitizer because I refuse to pay 30 $ for pasta. I will stick with going to chicken and dumpling that’s 2 seconds down the street. The food here isn’t even good enough quality to be charging such crazy prices.

What a super cute place! Came here with my parents and in laws. We ordered a few different omelets, French toast and biscuits and gravy. Everything except the biscuits and gravy tasted pretty good. I liked the French toast the best. You can eat it with syrup or their homemade strawberry jam. The biscuits and gravy were pretty bland and only tasted like cream. They have good coffee here that is locally brewed and only available at their restaurant.

Try a nice cocktail and an appetizer, sit outside, absorb the menu, look at other people’s food and decide from there… get more food, come back again or never. I have to say not super excited about the Benedict or the biscuits and gravy to return ourselves for the price. I just can’t justify it, but others seem fine with it as the place is crowded enough. Totally awesome cocktail spot, so use that as a springboard to decide for yourself.

Tried the NewBerg which is a Omelette consisting salmon, halibut, scallops, shrimp and lobster. My mouth was bursting with delicious flavors! Definitely worth the scenic drive on this beautiful cold sunny day!

Was a bit shocked by the prices in this place and when our food actually arrived, it was less than exciting. This place seems to be more of bar than an actual restaurant but even the drinks we ordered were sad. Ended up sending two of them back and then cancelled after the second attempt failed.

I like Shirley’s. It feels like it is up in the mountains(even though it is right outside of Troutdale). Inside there is a nice bar, and I like being there later in the evening when it feels like one is on vacation. When the weather is nice, they have a nice outdoor seating area that connects one to nature. I also think they have above-quality food. But, I struggled with whether to give a 3 or 4 start review. The criticisms of Shirly’s start with the prices. They are just too high, relative to what the place is, and the kinds of food they serve. Also, while our service has always been friendly enough, the place seems understaffed and diners can go a while waiting for service.

We stopped at Shirley’s for a drink before touring the Columbia River Gorge. Cozy little spot with very interesting décor. Friendly service.

We popped in here for breakfast this morning. Great service, delicious food. We had a seafood omelette and crab eggs benedict. Flavors were spot on. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Sauces were creamy. Great Bloody Mary’s too!

After an afternoon of hiking, one tends to get hungry and on our way home wandering through the back roads of historic route 30 we ended up at Shirley’s Tippy Canoe. We had spent the afternoon hiking at Latourell Falls and were passing through Corbett to find some grub, but the only thing there were the high school and primary school. We passed on and found a gas station with food but they closed at 3 p.m. so onward we went after some advice that there was Italian food and other places to eat down the road. So the second spot we saw was Shirley’s. Shirley’s is one of those places that is been around for decades and decades. Over 40 from what the manager told us and the place has been reincarnated many different times. It’s been a biker bar and a barbecue place in its past. In its current form it’s mostly comfort food with some barbecue and seafood on the menu as well as breakfast items. It is a bit spendy for a place that’s out in the middle of nowhere, or just outside Troutdale in this case. Average prices are anywhere from $ 11 to over $ 20 for the menu items. The higher end stuff is seafood. Our choices for this day were mac and cheese, a barbecued beef sandwich and a patty melt. I also got a cup of clam chowder because that seems to be an item that is highly sought after at this place. The clam chowder was decent and had lots of potatoes and a good clam taste to it. Personally I like my clam chowder a little on the sweeter side and it probably could have used a little salt but other than that it was pretty good. My barbecued beef sandwich was rather impressive and was just piled with meat. My friends daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese with french fries. Granted I was eating most of the French fries and they were good with skin on potatoes. My buddy said his patty melt was pretty good. So all in all we enjoyed our experience at Shirley. The place had a mix of sports memorabilia, lanterns, a door on the wall and all sorts of other things including a map of the United States with pins everywhere from people who’d been to Shirley’s from across the country. I couldn’t even see the area in Jersey from where I’m from to pin it. There was even some live music going on in the bar area. We enjoyed ourselves and the hospitality makes you want to return. Enjoy.

Cute atmosphere and location. Good service. The food was eh though. Would not recommend what we got(biscuits and gravy & chicken fried steak) the gravy was weird. Would prob come back though and try something else.

Hmmm. I’ve heard a lot about Tippy Canoe and saw the piece on Drive in’s Diners and Dives. It showcased the sloppy joe. The Back yard is fabulous. Beautiful setting and the tables and stools are polished boulders — stunning. The prices are steep, which was unexpected. We came for brunch. There were nine adults and two kids. The servers were super friendly assisting us to get all the orders in, allowed us to move tables to a shady spot and were very patient in general. Shirley came out and gave us the run down of the options — a long list of almost every ingredient on the menu. I can tell she is a spit fire and tries to run a tight ship. A fun character. I ordered a Greyhound — but they did not have grapefruit juice. Odd for a bar I thought. The others in my party were drinking mimosas and a few got bloodies. The reviews on the bloodies were not good — they switched to mimosas. One of the kids got a big ‘o glass of OJ. She went around asking all the adults if it was sparkling or if there were alcohol in it. It had turned. I assume the OJ in the mimosas was bad too — but fortunately the bubbly covered it. The portions were big. Definitely plenty to share. I got the signature sloppy joe and was really really disappointed. Very bland, needed a lot more of a kick. And too much bread. It is served open face over a burger bun, well, two buns. Another in the group said the same thing. My husband got the stuffed french toast. It was not what we expected ATALL. A big wet, mushy pile of doughy bread with some kind of pink cream cheese stuff in the middle topped with Redi whip and with a side of syrup. WAAAAAAAAY to much wet and sugar. It did not match the description. Not really edible. The setting is fantastic, the food is ‘ehh and overpriced. I’ll probably give it another shot.

We really wanted to like this place. It’s got a local, friendly vibe. Right out the gate we were made to feel unwelcome for having children — being told that we better not let our kids sit on the ground outside(why would we?), and that the adorable giant stuffed gorilla at the entrance, exactly at kiddo height, is not a toy. Not a toy? At our table we waited very long for someone to take our order. It might have been Sunday brunch rush, but we eventually had to grab the attention of the bartender. She was very sweet, but the order took a long time. Again, probably brunch rush. The thing that really threw us off were the prices. Perhaps the portions are enormous, but seeing a ham and cheese omelette for $ 17 turned me right off. A bare omelette is $ 12. All in all, it’s a pricey place, and the food was okay. It’s not very kid-friendly. But its in a great location on the Sandy, and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t leave hungry.

The food was ok, a bit overpriced; but the loss of stars is the service. A young woman was rude to our table on several occasions. My friend ordered a sloppy joe but when the server sat it down she said«here is your chili burger» then immediately became combative stating«it’s whatever you ordered.» It’s a burger with chili on it, so we asked another server what it is and she said she was new but she would go ask our server. The server came back with a lot of attitude and the ticket saying«here. Here is the ticket so maybe you’ll believe me. It’s a sloppy joe.» My friend was so embarrassed and uncomfortable. She was rude in other, smaller ways but this took the cake. Go here for scenery and the location — but don’t expect decent prices or good service.

Checked out this place after seeing it on Triple D. Not impressed. Service was poor, food was ok not great and over priced. The fries were limp and greasy. Clam chowder was more potato chowder with a few clams, very thick and bland. The burger was good however the bun was stale. All in all we were very unimpressed.

I normally don’t give a low rating even with bad service, but the lack of service, organization and the wait time killed it. We get in and seat ourselves and speak with a really great couple about the amazing food and how some shows have come in to film because of the amazing food. Okay, good sign right? We looked over the menu and after 10 min waiting we order. I got the«stuffed» french toast and my fiancé getting BISCUITS and gravy. We talk to the couple again for a while until they leave. And we wait. How long you ask? Well, we watched three other parties leave in the time we waited because they didn’t want to wait any longer. No sight of any staff, no «it’s going to be a bit longer. « Finally to food comes out 45 min into our dining. My frech toast is okay but cold. My fiancé’s biscuits and gravy was one biscuit and two pieces of toast, he had ordered a side of bacon that was ice cold and the gravy was cold too. The only warm thing on the table was the sausage I had ordered. So food is done and I go to pay. And waiting again. We say screw this and I find the only other person working and wait to pay. She is so busy I have to corner her at the register to get her attention. As I wait for her to run my card, I notice everyone talking about the wait and lack of staffing. We leave and I think, meh it happens this is not the first place I’ve been to with a wait or lack of staff. And then our waitress comes out as we’re in the car with the check and says«There is a bill that needs to be paid.» I tell her I paid. She then grills me, with who? What did they look like? What did I use to pay? I was ready to scream. Really? I paid 40.00 for cold food and lack of serve and you hunt me down because the place lacks any organization? Never again.

Troutdale, OR: Came in with a group of six and was seated immediately. Service was quick, especially when they found out members of our group had a flight to catch. The place was pricey — my salmon burger cost about $ 18.00 excluding the tip. The portions certainly make up for the price though, my burger looked like it was the size of my face. Additionally, I won’t fault the food — the server told us they only use fresh fish and it definitely showed as the salmon was tender and melted in my mouth. The french fries were also fantastic and deserve an A++. Overall, I’d say this place has fantastic seafood though pricey; it’s recommended as a once-in-a-while special meal. PS The Décor and location is very cozy and there is an excellent collection of knick knacks on the wall that are fun to look at.

It’s sad to write a Triple D joint review when I didn’t like the place. Service was adequate but the menu was filled with crazy high prices and low risk choices nothing very creative. Another triple D joint however I could have passed on this one. It sort of sucked but not completely. Ultra high prices and a dated lodge feel. Most menu choices topped the $ 25 dollar mark. Guy Fieri had the sloppy Joe burger so I tried it and I’ve had far far better burgers at half the price. I know it looked great but that’s as far as it gets. The fries were chewy the sloppy joe wasn’t hot and the burger was overdone. I ate less than half and split. $ 18 bucks including the tip what a rip off! The place seemed very popular with the locals as it filled up around me. The crowd seed as old as the décor. I met Shirley who was nice she showed me the push pin map and I stuck one on the Jersey Shore and signed the book. Overall with lutes choices in the area locals will have a soft spot for this place but they have tourist trap written all over the menu.
