Excellent food! Thanks to Unilocal for helping me find this one as i was just passin through. Tasty authentic mexican food, leaning less toward tex-mex(including machakka). It is called«Habeneros» now. Salsa bar is a hit. Small joint under an overpass, easy to get to off i-25.

Now named Habanero’s? Delicious, in any case, and a great quick food stop on a road trip. There are a few seats and a nice salsa bar — and the food comes out fast. The burritos are especially nice, filling and flavorful. Aguas frescas are tasty and not too sweet, too. This place is a really pleasant surprise in a photogenic little town and I’d certainly recommend it to people passing through.

This place is Mexican — not New Mexican — not Tex Mex. The food is what you’d expect to receive from a taco shack in Southern California. I’ve had the carnitas tacos and they’re really good. The burritos could use a little variety in their ingredients, and the staff is really hard to communicate with. Service is not speedy, but if you want really good carnitas tacos — this is the place.

We were looking forward to a little green chile after the week long Thanksgiving trip to Texas. Decided to try the taco place based off of Unilocal reviews and being on that side of town. The place looked a little dicey beside the elevated highway. I had the beef burrito that had a spicy guacamole sauce inside and backed with flavorful ground beef. I ordered it smothered expecting green chile but unfortunately it came out with a green tomatillo sauce and cheese. It was very good. The GF enjoyed a burrito supreme that had beans, guac and the tomatillo sauce. Nice menu with plenty of options! My only disappointment was the lack of restrooms in the place. I thought it was law that if you had an eating area that you had to provide restrooms?

FINALLY an authentic taco shack in Trinidad. Pretty extensive menu including tacos, enchiladas, rellenos, tostadas, quesidilas, tortas, burritos + breakfast burritos. Prices from $ 2.50/$ 2.95 for tacos, $ 6.99 for combo plates, $ 7.69 for super nachos or carne asada fries. Take out or indoor seating but not fancy, no liquor license. It’s a white building on the corner trimmed in green and red.
