Walked in and tried to joke with the bartender and she was such a jerk that we took a glance at the menu and quickly realized her miserable
Mood and snotty attitude were going to make our time there Unenjoyable. Their loss, 4 people walked right out.

After a bad experience a previous day, we gave it another shot and we’re glad we did. Matt was super nice and gracious.
Beers were good, shuffle board was fun, and the music was cool :)

I tried five different brews and most were good, some were very good. Wonderful atmosphere, but the location is a 10 minute drive from downtown TC. Ask to see their amazing selection of vinyl records which they will be happy to play for you.

The Honey Basil Ale was one of the craft beers I have had. They have their own grown hops and beehives for honey out back. You can taste the love in the few brews we got the chance to taste in our limited time there! Also friendliest bartender ever. Wish we could go back!!!

What an amazing brewery! Great vibe and great beer, you are made to feel welcome, and the beer taste great. No food but you are welcome to bring your own food which is cool. Also in a great location, definitely a new favorite brewery of mine.

Really interesting place as far as concept and what they are trying to achieve. Not sure if I’m a big fan of the vibe of the building/​layout.

The beer here is good. Probably my second favorite in TC after Rare Bird. However, there are a couple of issues.
1. I seem to recall that that growler fills were $ 10 a few months ago. I stopped in the other day to find that they are $ 12 now. This places it at my upper limit as far as how much I am willing to pay for a standard growler fill. I mean, most decent microbrew six packs are $ 10-​$ 11 at the store. And the six pack has a ton more costs baked into the price (packaging, marketing, distributor profit, retailer profit, etc.). Plus 8 oz. of additional beer. I feel that even $ 10 is high, but that seems to be the price floor here in TC so I have to accept that. Plus, Rare Bird charges $ 10. Nobody should charge more than that (and Right Brain and their $ 18.00 bottles of Pig Porter can F.O.D. Those things will still be languishing on the shelves of BevCo in September).
2. The price on growlers would not be a fatal flaw for this place were it not for their horrible location. Unless you live out there, you have to make a significant special trip. Combine that with the fact that there is no food, nothing else out there and no liquor and it makes this place a perfect storm of needless hassle.
3. Atmosphere is also a flaw. Too bright, too quiet. Might make a good place to study, but you definitely feel like a lab specimen in there.
I really want this place to succeed, but the owners need to acknowledge that their location has some shortcomings and do something to try to make up for that fact. Otherwise I am afraid they might not be in it for the long haul.

Good beer and incredibly friendly staff. The beer is so fresh and clean tasting! Worth a stop if in the TC area. Bought a Unilocaler!

I love this place. It’s a bit off the beaten path from the other breweries in the area. The location is nice and more of a winery setting than a brewery setting. It’s spacious and there is a patio for when the weather is nice. I’ve been here twice now and both times we were one of only a couple people in there, so the service was very personalized and friendly.
I cannot get enough of the Scarborough Fair. It’s one of the most unique flavored beers I’ve ever tried. Glad to see that Terra Firma is distributing across the state. They’ve finally made it to the Southeast (Oakland Co.) but I’d like to see Scarborough Fair on their distribution list for the area. Regardless, it’s a great place and they make great beer.

One of my favorite breweries in the tc area! Great selection of brews! A must stop if u r in the area. The help is all wonderful and friendly. They also all have a great sense of humor!

Reasonably priced micro brew. Friendly staff. Entertaining clientele. Tried 6 beers, all were good and true to descriptions. Didn’t find a favorite, maybe next time.

This is a quality brewery. Wide variety. Some different pours you have never seen or tried before. One example is the Wicked Garden Honey Rye Beet Wheat Ale. Some pours are unusual but tasty, but if you are more traditional – you will find your favorites here as well. Nice room. Friendly servers. Give it a try. Enjoy!

Well the facility is nice and the concept is pretty cool… the beer just fell short. I had two of their IPAs that supposedly won 1^st and 2^nd place in the Traverse City IPA Competition and it made me curious just who the competition was. They were two of the most unimpressive IPAs I’ve ever had. All of our samples were just «meh». But then, before we left, our very friendly bartender insisted on one last sample she referred to as «dessert». It totally redeemed our experience. It was Bruno The Questionable – a double brown aged in bourbon barrels. I’m not usually a bourbon fan at all, it’s usually too boozy and over the top. But wow, Bruno was delicious. Smooth, rich, and dangerous. I’m glad we only had a sample. I would definitely come back for more of that.
So yeah, mostly mediocre beer but a cool brewery with a lot of character. Bring your own food to enjoy with your beer or they have menus for places that will deliver.

Nothing tops the experience of Brewery Terra Firma.
The novelty and intrigue created by the nature of the brewing process at Terra Firma was more than enough to entice me. The ingredients found in all their beers are grown and harvested largely on-​site. Even honey from their own honey bees.
Couple that with the creativity, craftsmanship and sheer ingenuity of the brewmaster, and you’ve got something truly remarkable. And honestly unforgettable.
The atmosphere was far removed from most other «micro-​brewery» type spots in the area. We went in the afternoon and I really couldn’t imagine a better way to spend a few lazy summer hours. The food menu is basically non-​existent, save for a few locally made favorite snack options which serve their purpose just fine. So really, to see this place shine, head there after lunch or late evening after you’ve had a good meal.
Two beers in particular blew me away. However, all the brews we tried were nothing less than exceptional. And I mean that in the truest sense of the word. Exceptional. The two in question were the Scarborough Fair — which tasted like a thanksgiving dinner in a glass — and the bourbon barrel aged cherry porter which was the most complex and balanced beer I have ever palleted. Unsurpassed and unchallenged. Truly remarkable.
To conclude. Go here. It’s worth the time by anyone’s count. You will not be disappointed. And be sure to converse extensively with the gentlemen behind the bar and your fellow patrons.

We stopped in here after finding it on Unilocal as we entered Traverse City from the South. At first we thought we had landed at a small winery as the place is located just outside of town on a back road, next to a small farm. The area is definitely growing but they could still be called the country here. The place was brand spanking new and not too busy for s Saturday afternoon. We ordered a sampler so we could try several of their beers. We we’re really disappointed in anything but found the atmosphere to be pretty vanilla. There was only a single person working so attention to all of the guests was not a strong suite. We will be back because they promote a positive vibe and the kids had some games to play while we finished our tray.

Beer only and small snacks. The beer was great we had a rosemary beer that was outstanding and an IPA that was great. The other beers were just ok. Service is good and friendly.

A little stark white for a brewery, but good enough beer and really nice people. Worth a quick drink.

Good place, relaxing atmosphere, unique beers that for me as a brewer, were quite accurate on the description and style. I would come here again.

I’ve always had excellent service every time I stop by. My fiancé and I visit a few times a month and I love how they remember our names. Everyone is incredibly friendly.
They have a small selection of snacks, but you are able to bring your own food in.
The beer is absolutely wonderful. I appreciate how the bartenders offer new and creative mixes to spice things up a bit. I have a basic brewing background and I’m continually impressed with their beer.

Went here on a whim after a bad experience at Right Brain. We got there 15 minutes before they closed, but they still let us get a sampler and stay an hour to drink it. The staff was very friendly & accommodating, the taproom was roomy & clean (more like a restaurant than a typical bar). The beer was good too, my favorite was the Copper Grasshopper. Apparently the owner was formerly the brewer at Right Brain.
The location is a little out of the way, but worth it for those more interested in trying new beers than in a bar scene.
