Jules Veterinary Center is a well-​established, full-​service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.

We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-​house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-​stocked pharmacy, in-​hospital surgery suite, in-​house digital x-​ray, ultrasound, companion laser therapy, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and a staff dedicated to your pet’s health. At Jules Veterinary Center we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn’t feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.

History

Established in 2002.

Jules Veterinary Center has been serving the Tracy California community since 2002. Dr. Kecia Valdez opened the practice to honor her Miniature Schnauzer who was the reason she attended Veterinary School. Sadly little Jules passed away just before the hospital opened. Jules prides itself on helping clients understand their pet’s medical conditions. Your pets are a member of the family and we take every precaution in keeping them safe and healthy. The staff at Jules Veterinary Center is always open to your questions and concerns and prides themselves on client education and preventative health care. Business Owner

Kecia Valdez, DVM is the founder and owner of Jules Veterinary Center as well as our sister hospital Lathrop Veterinary Center in Lathrop California. Dr. Valdez was born in New Mexico and moved to Colorado to attend Colorado State Vet School. Her original dreams consisted of becoming a human doctor but a small schnauzer puppy quickly changed her mind. After becoming a concerned pet owner, she knew that becoming a veterinarian was her true calling. Kecia graduated with honors and was inducted into Phi Zeta, a veterinary honor society in 1998. Her medical interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery, helping control the pet population and of course schnauzers. When she is not busy with her patient’s medical cases, Kecia enjoys spending time with her three children Isabella, Francisco, and Sergio. She also finds herself lost in a good book regularly and taking as many pictures as she can.

Took my dog down to their office look like it had a large
Tumor I asked them if they tell me if the dog has cancer or not they said they cannot tell me into after they operate and take the tumor large tumor auger the dog first I said well then I guess go ahead and do it took the tumor out and I waited two weeks later they called me at home call me the dog has cancer now I put my dog to surgery now dog help me put down because the dog is dying cancer dog live about 25 days late surgery pain on his money I wish they would’ve told me upfront I would’ve not got the dog who all this and all still making payments for $ 1300 very disappointed won’t be going down there ever
Feel the vet should’ve biopsy with a look at some of the cells under the microscope and then you can determine if a dog has cancer before you do the operation want to waste the time put the poor dog through all this come home with stitches go back take the stitches out

I really appreciate the services I’ve had at this vet and I’m grateful that they take the care credit card otherwise we never be able to get our pets services very clean organized and great hours even if there’s an urgent need they’re always there for you

We brought our pet as an emergency, she had parvovirus, and they got to her quickly and had a treatment plan ready quickly and had her treated as soon as possible. She recovered within 4 days and the costs were less than I expected. They had a wide range of options, and submitted my insurance claim for me. I would trust them with any pet with any condition, they really care about the pet first!!!

Great vet place to take your animals. Dr. Olsen is awesome and is always super good with our dogs. And Dr. Olsen was the only doctor who could handle our lil guy without any sedative. Thanks so much Dr. Olsen!!!

We started going to Jules two years ago on a recommendation after a less-​than-​desirable at what was then our regular vet’s office. Every appointment we have had for our family of four cats (yes, four) has been met with friendly staff and doctors that are very informative and truly care about the families and patients that come through their doors. At one point we had 3 of our 4 cats going in every day for a week due to a quick-​spreading virus that had infiltrated our home. The team at Jules was so accommodating and put us at ease through that very stressful time.
But I have to give an extra special mention to Dr, Jeana Atkins and the staff that worked the night we had to bring our older cat Gracie in. She was not only dehydrated and sick from a virus – requiring subcutaneous fluids and medication – but she was also anemic. A blood transfusion was recommended. Never did I think that I would be considering a blood transfusion (I didn’t even know they could do that on a cat!) but she is family and worth it. Luckily it was reasonably priced and the staff moved swiftly to take care of her. But what really blew me away was that when the donor cat was uncooperative, one of the staff ran home and got her OWN cat to use as a donor so that we weren’t risking Gracie’s health deteriorating further due to waiting longer. Honestly, this was such an amazing show of how much this team really does care. I cannot thank this team enough!!!

We’ve been taking our fur family to Jules for a long time. We are amazed at the compassion ALL the staff shows for them. I read a few of the other comments and don’t understand the negative. We recently had our oldest cat euthanized. Dr Atkins and Nova presided over this. From the beginning Dr Atkins gave medical advice but never said we should put him down. I think they leave this decision for us to make. It’s a good call on their part. Everyone at Jules knows us and our pets by name. The staff takes such a liking to all the pets who come to Jules. My wife and I will continue to bring our family to Jules and will recommend them to anyone who asks «Which vet in Tracy do you take your pets?».

We’ve been taking our various pets to Jules since 2009 and we’ve never had an issue.
We are always able to get in for an appt when needed. During after hours, we have had to take our cat to a Vet Hospital in Dublin for an emergency but that’s to be expected as Jules is not 24 hour.
One of our cats became very ill and Jules helped treat and care but the condition was too far gone. Jules helped us make our cat comfortable and did not judge us when we felt it was time to put her to sleep.
We got a second puppy who contracted Parvo and Jules was Johnny-​On-​The-​Spot for care. Our dog recovered quickly and fully.
For 6 years they have provided great care. Never have we felt they were being pushy regarding treatment. We appreciate them for providing us with all options and information for us to make the best decision for our animals.

There are no words to describe how thankful I am for every single person who works at jules, in November my dog got extremely sick. They ran every test possible to figure out what was wrong with him (it turns out he had a twisted spleen) when they figured it out they canceled what they had going on that day to get him into surgery the same day. Long story short, the doctors at Jules saved my dogs life and I am forever grateful for them. Rawlie wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the amazing staff at Jules. Every time we go in for a visit we are greeted by name with smiling familiar faces, it makes the experience that much better. The facility itself is beautiful and extremely clean! If you choose to bring your animals here know that they are in the best of the best hands. You can tell that everyone who works for Jules truly loves what they do.

My husband and I had to put his cat down today after a several-​months-​long discussion about her quality of life.
We were new clients and I booked the appointment over the phone a couple of weeks ago. When we got there, the vet assistant couldn’t find our reservation, however she knew what we were there for and took us right in «without an appointment,» which was a great relief as we had been preparing for this all week.
Even though she was more my husband’s cat than mine, they were extremely sympathetic to how hard this was for him and were very understanding about how he didn’t want to be in the room when the procedure was going on.
The whole procedure was so quick and painless that my husband and I both feel incredibly at ease. It was her time to go, and the staff at Jules Vet Center were amazing with their care for our precious kitty, even having just met her (and us). As hard as this job has to be for someone who has to not only deal with personal sadness when helping a pet pass, but also dealing with sad pet parents, Dr. Valdez was so kind and really made me feel at ease while I was in the room for the procedure. Her kindness and care in explaining all of the steps to me is really what stood out during this whole situation.
Although this is a tough subject and «cost» shouldn’t really be an issue when caring for our cat’s health, this is a Unilocal review so I will include that I did call three different places in town and Jules was the least expensive for this procedure (for one place, by at least $ 100), plus they even give you a paw imprint (something no one else offered). In addition, when I called to ask about prices and procedures, Jules was the only vet whose staff told me they were sorry that we were facing this decision. That might seem small, but it meant so much. If we end up getting another fur baby to share our love with, I will definitely be going back to Jules for any and all care they might need.

We switched over from Hayward, everyone was so accommodating the nurses took great care of my dogs, very friendly and very! Clean it did not smell like animals at all. They seemed to be open to answer and questions. They even did a follow up call to check on how the dogs were doing

We love this vet so much that we drive an hour out of our way for all of our animal care. Everyone we have came into contact with has been so helpful, understanding and keeps us informed about everythink that’s taking place. We have had excellent care and treatment for all 3 of our dogs and have total confindence that our animals are getting the best veterinary care around. Jules Vet staff and practice is the best of the best! Not only is the staff caring and compassionate, but the doctors are down to earth and easy to work with. They do a lot for the community and their «fix our feral cat» program they do annually is amazing! (fixing feral cats for free!) I wish more vets in the area would do more to give back like Jules.

Compassionate listeners, Skilled and talented staff.
Finally a vet service that works with us, instead of dictating to us.
Super-​Mutt had really bad allergies. So bad I had him tested, and did a lot of research. Having no success with two other vet services in Tracy, I went to our trainer for a recommendation. They suggested we try Jules.
I went in ready for a battle, and instead was met with great listeners who were more than happy to work with us, instead of dictate to us. Together we came up with a plan that kept his allergies in check, without drugging him into submission. When old age crept in, we were able to again work together to come up with a plan of minimal medicine to maximize his quality of life.
This lead to Super-Mutt’s quality of life being extended by a good year.
So last night it was finally time to say good-​bye. Again, the entire staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, explain what to expect, and provide comfort and dignity.
It may be a while before another dog, but when that time comes you can darned sure bet we will be using Jules for the exceptional care they provide.

On 06/​22/​2014 my Wife and I decided to take our new kitten to the vet for his first check up, long story short we paid $ 52 for the vet to just hold him and weigh him, they just have him a dose of «dewormer» which they recommended ($ 18). Five hours later Sedrik (my kitten) was throwing up, we called them immediately to let them know what was happening, they said it was normal (the worms were dying) 2 hours later Sedrik was not moving, and unfortunately he was dying, we immediately took him back to the vet and they told us they were sorry but they were closing, there was nothing they could do, i was not going to argue as my kitten was dying, we took him to Sage in Dublin a 24 hr emergency vet, we spent 200 $, they gave him fluids and kept him for about 4 hours until he was a little better. Next morning we called Jules Vet, they said they didn’t know what happened and that they couldn’t do anything for us, no apology, no refund, no help paying the ER bill, nothing, its not so much the money issue, but they were completely unsympathetic, i cant imagine this guys ever touching anyone’s loved pet, they are so inconsiderate and careless, needless to say we will never come back or recommend anyone here EVER. It is very sad to see businesses provide such poor careless services to one’s loved pets, specially when you want to believe that the money you are paying is worth your pets well-​being.
On a side note the guys at Sage in Dubin were very understanding and just overall awesome caring individuals, i highly recommend them should you ever encounter an emergency.

My review is based off the from office staff more than the actual vet’s as well. I see the vet for 5 minutes and then I’m dealing with the other staff for the other 45.
I have been bringing my pets to Jules for the last three years and until this last visit the care was good enough for me to pay the 20% more than any other vet in the area to move them. I didn’t want to have to re-​establish care and my pets are pretty healthy so we are only there maybe twice yearly.
This last visit made me realize that when people say «you use Jules they aren’t very compassionate» or «they are strictly a business» they aren’t lying.
I went in last week as my pet had an issue with his eye that looked to be conjunctivitis. I saw the doctor left my pet with them and came back that evening to get him as they needed to run some tests. I arrive and they hand me the bill I go to write them a check and the clerk says very bluntly I can’t tAle a check it our policy. I tell her oh I didn’t realize, my debit card/​credit cards were stolen can you make an exception? I can’t without getting approval from the owner. Oh okay no problem I’ll wait. So, here is the deal it’s Sunday at 5pm so the banks are closed I couldn’t get cash or I would have but here is why I’m done .
This girl goes to the back and here is when everything changes. I went from oh hi and let me get that for you to having the plague. This girl-​texts the owner. Yup texts. So I’m waiting. 20 minutes go by .no one will speak to me. Another ten minutes ok. What’s going on. Oh I’m waiting to hear back from the owner. Two of the techs come out. Still waiting ok. Where is my cat. Oh we can’t release him until we have payment. Like I’m going to run out of there with him and not take care of my bill !!! Here is the deal you want to treat me like a second class citizen after 3 years of never questioning your fees and always doing the necessary for my pets. Hmmm good bye! You have made enough money off of me. Clearly that’s all your after!
Additionally, get some customer service skills pick up the phone and call people when customers are waiting !
Just a reminder. I’m an established patient not someone you don’t have a business relationship with. Thanks for making me feel unwelcome. I will spend my money elsewhere.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars because there are aspects at Jules that are stellar and others that need improvements.
First the good:
Dr. Valdez is totally awesome, can’t say enough about her care and her desire to help pets stay healthy.
Dr. James Burnett is gone — yes this is a good thing as he gave the impression that Jules was only out after the American buck. Had several dealings with him and left unhappy everytime because his care was bad. So yes Virginia, it is a good thing he’s gone.

Dana Hodges-​Helget — Totally awesome and caring. She will make you feel better just talking to her.
Melissa Guillen — Another awesome person that is a great person.
The Bad:
Miss Dr. Smryni (sp?) when she left. She was the MOST understanding and compassionate Vet I have ever met. She never made you feel horrible for the decisions you had to make and tried to work within the pets mommy and daddy’s financal means.
Dr. Olsen, it really bothers me when you have a pet that’s dying and she argues with you as to whether to put the pet to sleep. What is it… she wants more money??? If I have to put a pet to sleep I have agonized over it and it is an absolute last option when a pet is ill. So having a vet that should be compassionate tell me «well your pet is really sick and you have made the decision to put them to sleep… well I won’t fight you on this.» What the hell is that comment for?! Hey Olsen, people don’t normally come to that conclusion easily and our pets are family. So if you don’t have something nice shut up!!!
Initially Jules was reasonable, but it seams that as they have grown their prices have escalated. If they haven’t realized that pet insurance is hard to come by, and we are in a down economy making funds scarce. We want what’s best for our four-​legged friends, but it shouldn’t be so expensive. I am not opposed to making a fair profit, but at times it seems like we are being gouged. Office visits — $ 52 — for 10 minutes of a Vet’s time… that is extreme.
