We have been bringing our dogs here for years and we are always satisfied. Dr. Ross and staff always take the best care of my animals. He is very honest and straight forward. I highly recommend them.

My daughter sent me a text yesterday that our lab Cody was spending the night at Dr Ross’s office. I under any other circumstances would freak out, but it was a comforting feeling to know what ever happened he was in the best hands. Our dogs live on a farm and do crazy stuff. It’s a blessing to know that Dr Ross is close by and simply the best! Thank you for always taking such amazing care of our pets!!!

Don’t take your pet to this SHIT HOLE of a vet that cares more about his lunch break than his patients well being. READ IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET AT ALL. WORTH THE READ I PROMISE.
Was recommended to Dr. Ross by family, said they’ve been to him before in the past for what I needed to have done with my dog, Koa, who was healthy as ever and only 3 years old. Went to Dr. Ross for the first time to have him check out Koa’s eyes because they were extremely irritated. Dr. Ross confirmed he would need an entropion surgery for his eyes and that he has performed the surgery many times and even on his own dogs, and that it was a «very simple routine surgery» he seemed very confident with it and although he only spent no more than 5 minutes with us he made me feel comfortable. Also stated koa would need a breathing tube during the surgery because his breed (English Bulldog) had a hard time breathing on their own.
Dropped Koa off the next week and they had me fill out two papers, one asking if I would like blood tests performed, and the other paper authorizing the surgery and understanding that ethically and professionally no guarantee not warranty can be made regarding the results or cure from the procedure. Filled the papers out and left Koa, expecting to pick him up after I got off work.
At 1:21 pm I got a call from Dr. Ross simply saying Koa died and he doesn’t know what happened and to come in and we could talk about what happened. The doctor told me and my friend to come back to a room where I assumed we would talk about what happened, and without any warning or heads up he walks us into a room where my little best friend laid lifeless on the table looking like they just left him there. Wasn’t covered up or anything. I couldn’t even stand to look at Dr. Ross, and he stated that the surgery went perfect, he woke up from anesthesia fine, and that they checked in him every 5 minutes and he had just stopped breathing at 12:45 and they attempted to resuscitate him for 20 minutes but couldn’t. Said he would do anything to make it right. I was too shaky and emotional to speak so my friend did the speaking back and forth for me. I told him I wanted Koa cremated because I wanted him at home with me where he belongs and Dr. Ross said he could have it done by the end of the week, which would be 5 days as it was only Monday. And I was pushy and wanted him home by the next day.
Dr. Ross was very quick to offer to buy me a new dog, but NOT ONCE offered me an autopsy to find out what happened, which I would have never thought of having done at that moment giving what had unexpectedly happened. Even if it was at my own expense I would have paid for the autopsy hands down I would just want to know what happened.
The next day I went back in to pick up Koa’s ashes and both of the ladies at the front desk were very polite and helpful, and I asked for a copy of all the paperwork I had filled out and any logs they took during the procedure and, although I did not pay for anything, seeing as how Koa died in their professional care with no explanation, I asked for a receipt of what I would have paid for if he had still been alive, showing each individual item I had paid for including the anesthesia type and amount they had dosed Koa with. The nurse told me it would take at least an hour to make the copies, which I thought was strange, but ok, and I had a friend pick them up for me later that day. When I got the copies back, there was no copy of a receipt and some one the logs were not filled out. The log showed that Koa had gotten out of surgery at 11:20, and that his breathing tube was quickly removed at 11:40. And that he passed at 12:45.
I went back in 2 days later and spoke with Dr. Ross and his nurses and said that I specifically asked for those papers and a copy of the receipt. Dr. Ross got a very rude tone with me and said well you didn’t pay for anything. And i stated that it didn’t matter I had a right to know what Koa was dosed with and how much. He kept getting smart with me saying it was in the copies I had already gotten, so I demanded another copy right then and there so he could show me himself where in the copy incase I had missed it. When he came out and handed me the copy, it was the exact same copy I had gotten previously, except this time this copy was filled out with what they had dosed him with and how much.
The next week the I asked the nurse who was there when Koa died. She said her and the other nurse and that Dr. Ross returned from lunch at 1pm. 15 minutes after Koa had stopped breathing. He went to lunch instead of making sure Koa made a full recovery and now I lost my best friend way before it was his time. Had Dr. Ross actually been there when Koa stopped breathing he might still be alive, but he took that chance from Koa when he decided that his lunch break was more important that Koa’s life. Please don’t take your pet to Dr. Ross, hes negligent, rude, and doesn’t seem to care about his patient

I have been taking my dog Sarge to Dr. Ross for several years and have nothing but praise for this Doctor.
A very clean place and very friendly atmosphere with a professional and friendly staff who always greets us with a smile.
I highly recomend Dr. Ross for all your Veterinary services.

I took my dog to this vet for a booster shot because his prior owners did and all his records were there. He is very thin and I asked about his weight and Dr. Ross said he is thin but nothing to be concerned about. I also said his breath is pretty awful and could he check his teeth. A quick spot check and teeth are fine. $ 135 later for a shot and an exam we are out the door in 10 minutes. Fast forward a few months, dog won’t eat much. He goes to Jules Vet and they say he has 2 bad teeth that most likely will need to be pulled. Poor puppy, it hurt to eat. Soft food is much better and he is eating more. This guy doesn’t really spend any time to look at the dog, or consultant with the owner. Seemed too distracted to even take us in a room, examined him in the hall. Stay away, Jules is much much better!

Dr. Ross is awesome! I was referred to Dr. Ross by 4 different individuals who only trust him to care for their loved ones big and small. After meeting him I had complete confidence in this Dr. With all his years of experience it’s clear He knows what he’s doing. I took my Choxie in to have a tumor removed and when I returned to pick him up he did not seem scared or freaked out at all, he was just wagging his tail and not at all acting like he just had surgery. He was able to walk out on his own and his bandage was wrapped beautifully! The girls at the front desk are super sweet and I am so relieved to have found Dr. Ross and now understand why he came highly recommended!

I would like to start by saying a very special tank you to Dr. Ross and his staff for taking special care of my little man Harley! I came into Dr. Ross on 10÷6÷15 late in the afternoon and expressed concerns about Harley and right away Dr. Ross said have him back tomorrow first thing in the morning so I can do an ultrasound. After the ultrasound he had to give us some not so good news Harley had a tumor on his spleen and needed to have his spleen removed the bad news was if they opened him up and he was full of cancer their would be nothing he could do. Bad news of course but he was very honest about what the out come could be. The next day I took Harley in for surgery and was so worried about what the out come was going to be but right after surgery someone from the office called and spoke with my husband and said our Harley made it through the surgery with no problems. And by the way we never asked for a price because when it comes to our animals we can not and will not put a price on them, after all of this we got a bill for $ 1015.09 way less then we expected! We have been going to Dr. Ross as far back as 1995 and have had no less than excellent service every time we go there. Again Dr. Ross thank you!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Ross with my pets now for over a year. I work with pet rescue and have 6 dogs and 6 cats. So I get to see Dr. Ross, Tina and Tori frequently. I am really happy with them. Tina and Tori are very friendly and kind hearted. Dr Ross comes with years of experience and knowledge. He is kind, compassionate and very fair priced. I am very happy with the high level of care they provide. I am especially happy to know who my pets are going to see every time I make an appointment. I do not like veterinary offices that bounce you around to various vets that dont know me or my pets. I highly recommend Dr. Ross.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I would shut this place down. He is the WORST vet ever. I had a healthy dog with a lump. I took her in with no other signs and acting perfectly normal. After spending the money to figure out what was going on he said it was cancer and if we did the $ 600 surgery he could get it and she would be fine. Well of course I did the surgery. Worst mistake of my life. After we did the first… yes first surgery her stomach opened up completely so I had to take her back 2 more times as well as the first time to get it stitched up. She was the most miserable animal after that surgery. After the 3^rd time he has the nerve to tell me… oh she’s covered in cancer this surgery wouldn’t have helped her!!! R u f**king kidding me. He just wanted money and I took a perfectly healthy baby girl and killed her listing to this quack. We had to put her down which was the worst thing I’ve ever done. He also has the WORST bedside manner. Please please please stay away. Go to Jules!!!

Dr. Ross and his staff took great care of our Yorky a few months ago. On this visit, Dr. Ross displayed the care and compassion that sets the standard for all vets. I was impressed, and will return when my pet needs additional care.

We brought out 6 year old cat here after going to another vet (not going to say a name, because they are great just not as great) after going to our primary because we where looking for a second opinion.
Our cat began losing weight and not eating, so we took him to our primary and they said he needed bloodwork and xrays which we did (500 $) and he tested negative for something that was curable.
So next the xrays showed he was obviously filled with liquid, they stated he might have had liver failure or a tumor but they needed to take out the liquid and do an ultra sound (possibly 1,000 or more) which wasnt a burden on us that much but it wasn’t money we could easily spend.
So debating, what if we find out he had a tumor? Was all that money to be thrown out? What if he needed more and more test? We don’t have thousands of dollars to throw out.
Should we put him down? We decided to just get a second opinion.
We went to doctor Ross and he automatically felt the tumor on his kidney area.
He told us we can do all the procedures, but in his opinion he would relieve the cat out of misery, just put him down peacefully, not only did we save money tons, we felt reassured he was very amazing and helpful. From now he is our primary, thank the lord.
Not to make it seem as money was in issue, but it was but then it wasn’t. Complicated, but we’re glad he will be in a better place and out of pain. Love Dr. Ross! :)

What a sweet and kind doctor! I am a first time pet owner with a little chihuahua. My little dog is very quiet but generally very active. On our visit, he was very scared (and so was I) because it was our first visit. Gringo (white chihuahua) was sick and Dr. Ross fixed him up and put me at ease too. Great staff and service. Reasonable prices too!

I breed OEB’s. Best vet by far of any vet I’ve been too! He’s been my vet for 3yrs and will continue for many more! If u want a great vet that isn’t there to make a bill of you! This is the man to see!

We’ve been going to Dr. Ross since our dog was a pup. He does get the job done, and his prices are reasonable. I only give him 3 stars because he could definitely work on his bed side manners and legth of time he spends with clients. He just always seems to be in a rush even when there is no one else in the waiting room.
But don’t get me wrong, i think he is a great Vet and when we have questions he knows the answers… that’s why we continue going here. But he doesn’t go the extra mile to make our dog feel special nor does he take time to talk to clients.

I apologize for my earlier review. The doctor was having a bipolar moment or maybe he was nice because I was going there for the first time.
Second visit… Took my dog there about a few month ago. The doctor was acting weird and scared of my dog. He was discriminating against my dog becuase of his breed. He was telling me «I am going to be very upset if your dog bites me.» It’s like obviously I don’t want my dog to bite you. He gave my dog a shot for allergies and charged $ 90. He spent maybe 3 minutes with us. Then he went and hid in his little area behind the receptionist. He couldn’t even answer my questions.
His staff was nice and friendly still. And I guess if you are taking your pet for shots, he’s not too bad.
Anyway, I will just keep bringing my dog to our old vet even if I have to drive extra.

After recently moving to Tracy and acquiring a new dog that quickly became my baby, I only wanted the best. Since I do not have children, she is the closest thing I have to one. I was recommended by a coworker, but I was still nervous to go, I had had some not so great experiences when in search for the perfect vet. So I gave Dr. Ross a shot.
I was impressed from the moment the receptionist picked up the phone, she got my dog in that day, was extremely sweet when booking her appointment. I got there and it was nice and quiet, (i get nervous because although my dog is little, she packs a loud bark) Dr. Ross walked in the room, introduced himself and Penny didn’t flinch! He was like the dog whisperer! She took right to him, I had NEVER seen anything like it.
To make a long story short, they were superb. I will DEFINITELY be recommending them! and I will be back!

Dr. Ross is amazing. We’ve had him as our vet for over 10 years, and we’ve moved to the bay area, but bring our dog back to him for all of his vet needs.
Dr. Ross has been very patient with our dog who is male aggressive, and has always treated our pets with great care.
I will only take my pets to Dr. Ross.

I have used Tom Ross’s services since he was a young vet just out of school. He has consistently treated my animals with professional and excellent care, always being prompt and available when I needed him.
I keep seeing comments about his reasonable prices, while that is an issue, it sure isn’t the only criteria I consider, the well being of my animals is the important consideration.
I once brought him my dog that had been stepped on by one of my horses, and Dr Ross was able to save his ear that had been crushed and degloved. I was impressed to say the least~
He has treated my animals for years and hopefully will continue to be their vet for many years to come. You won’t regret using his excellent services.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and let everyone in the Tracy area know my experience with multiple vets in the area.
Our 8 year old Shih-​Tzu mix began having urination problems in the beginning of October, she had to go multiple times and when she did go not much urine was passed. I decided to take her up to VCA Old River Vet on West 11^th St. here in Tracy. After the initial exam I was informed by the doctor that she would need an X-​ray of her bladder, urine test (sent to outside lab), and antibiotics. The estimate for all of the work was $ 522.50. The doctor completed the X-​ray and called me approximately 1 hour later to inform me our dog had two large bladder stones which was taking up about 90% of her bladder space.
The doctor stated I had two options. One he could insert a needle into her bladder to get a sterile sample of urine to see if this type of stone would dissolve with a different diet or if the stone had to be surgically removed. I left our little dog there for 6 hours and received a call stating he was unable to perform the test because of the lack of room in her bladder.
He stated he believed stones this large would more then likely have to be surgically removed and gave me an estimate for the surgery. The estimate I was given was for the surgery and a number of different tests (blood work, bladder stone tests, urine tests) was $ 2216.00, and that was on the low side of the sliding scale estimate that they use. The doctor still stated that there may be a chance that we could get them to dissolve over a long period of time.
I spent some time on the Internet and came across Dr. Ross Veterinary Clinic. I contacted them early Monday morning to get a second opinion. The very nice and helpful lady on the phone stated that I could come in right now and to request the X-​ray from Old River, this way I wouldn’t have to pay for another X-​ray. I showed up, X-​ray in hand and immediately Dr. Ross came out and looked at it. He immediately stated that out dog would need surgery and getting the bladder stones to dissolve would be impossible. I showed him the estimate that VCA had given me and he was shocked. He stated that I didn’t need half of the stuff they were doing. After a few minutes with Dr. Ross and the Vet tech looking everything over he came up with an estimate of $ 822… that’s $ 1,394.00 less then VCA. He stated he could do the surgery tomorrow and I set everything up.
After the surgery our dog did have some complications about 4 days later (something that can happen). After multiple vet visits to Central Vet in Manteca and the Emergency Vet in Dublin I was told that the surgery was performed correctly and that she had just contacted a nasty infection that was attacking her liver and pancreas. I took her back to Dr. Ross and he immediately started her on fluids and antibiotics. I brought her in every morning at 8:30 am and picked her up at 5:00pm. We did this for six days and slowly after all the medicine and fluids were given she got better. My total bill for her 6 day stint with Dr. Ross was $ 249.00… This covered all the medications, her fluids, multiple catheters, and a 1 month supply of take home medication.
Dr. Ross will not try and sell you unneeded tests or overpriced medications. He’s honest and truly cares for your pets. If I would have taken our dog to VCA for the surgery I would not have been able to afford the costly vet bills from the complications afterward. My experiences with Old River and Jules Vet over the past few years have been mediocre at best. If anyone in the area is looking for a great vet go see Dr. Ross.

Dr. Ross is fabulous. He is no nonsense and always available for any of my pet’s emergencies. I appreciate that he doesn’t want to put my pet into pain and run any unnecessary tests, rather he’ll give me the medicine that will immediately help. This results in lower cost to me and my happier pets!
We have been with him for several years and I would recommend him to all.
