I come here every week, and even invite friends too go and they always have an amazing time here! Let’s put it this way, this place is my second home!

The park is big enough that you will enjoy your visit. Trails are marked easy, medium and hard. Carnegie have a lot of scary side cliff trails.

Awesome place. Have gone there 3 days in the last 2 weeks and still want to go back. Trail riding is exciting, adventurous, challenging, and fun. The best of the best riders and even new ones can enjoy the hills. Tons of single track trails and larger fire-​road trails. A lot of hill climbing for beginners or even the most advanced. Busy on the weekends but during the weekdays it can be slow. Slow as in i was the only rider besides the rangers.
Bite off what you can chew and be careful. KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ORANGE CONES AND POSTS. There are sink holes and ditches in some areas that can ruin your day, but they are in the more advanced areas. Some trails will turn into rocky, rutted, and washed out nightmares. As with the sink holes these trails are also in the more advanced areas.
The hills are abit dry right now due to the drought. New tires would help a lot for the more difficult hills. Bring water as it is hot lately. I took 2 gallons with me and wore a camel back while i was riding. Needless to say i was still pissing yellow from not getting enough water. The beer didn’t help though.
There are three different race tracks. One for 90cc and smaller, one for quads and dirt-​bikes, and one MX track. Im not big on racing but they keep the tracks watered down and maintained so they are nice to ride.
Great place to ride and improve your skills just use common sense, and take on what you can handle because you have to potential to get yourself in trouble.

Hello all, this place has been my home for the last 13 years. I have seen so much change happen due to the environmentalists. What I love about Carnegie is that the family continues to grow, and we will stay strong and fight for our park to remain open. Please visit our park, it consists of the best hill climbs around, great track, miles of trails, and riding for beginners all the way up to extreme pro riding. Please visit!

Ohhh good old Carnigee & moto mart I will forever love you you were my first place I rode race an had a «date»

I will always love Carnegie, I rode my first bike here lonnnnng ago, and have been here so many times, I’ve lost track. A lot of people complain about the rough terrain, rocks, and clay mud when it’s wet… But I think dealing with those things when I was a new rider helped build my skills to the point where I can handle pretty much any other terrain elsewhere! Everywhere else feels easy to ride, just because I’m used to being subjected to nightmares at Carnegie!
The trails are not one way, so you always have to be looking & listening for other riders around blind corners. It’s insanely hot & dry out here during the warm months, a camelback with water is a requirement! There are also places where you can get the bikes stuck, and it takes an eternity to get out!!!
I’m glad this place is so close, you can’t beat the cheap gate fee, and the rangers are really awesome!

We only just drove through here to check it out. Looks like a HUGE amount of acreage to get out there and have an afternoon out on the bike. Lots of parking, lots of space.

Great place I really like it… Had fun with the family planning on going soon also is very cheap $ 5 all day. Rangers are really helpfull

Fun place for my son and I to get out of the house and play for the day. Best time to go is any time — any month — when it’s not to hot.

I can not understand the reviews, I am teaching my kids to ride. 6 year old on a 50 and 9 year old on a 70. This place is a dump, it is windy and dusty. The tracks are hard pack. My 9 year old was landed on partially by a teenage boy racing on the beginner track. There is no enforcement of rules. The park workers are not concerned about safety-«I will try to get someone down to check it out» as they sit collecting a check doing I dont know what in the offices and booth. They have learned how to ride at mammoth bar svra and sugar pine ohv-​these are 5 star places. Trucks driving fast on the dirt roads, motorcycles and atvs racing down the roads. This is not a safe place– at least on a weekend. People actually camp at this place, no idea why. The only way this place could be a good review maybe is if you have never been anywhere else. Fat women on small motorcycles and atvs, tattoed tank top wearing guys trying to impress with their speed on dirt roads passing pickups towing, people who have obviously never been taught how to ride safely or considerately. Riders flying around blind corners on what little trails we got to then I decided this place is not safe. 5 stars my ###. My advice drive a bit further and leave this place for those that enjoy a place like this.

Carnegie is a great spot if you have a dirt bike or quad. Although its 99% dirt bikers, you do see a hand full of quads rolling around (Im one of them). I’ve been here about 6 times this years as Im new to ATV’s. I started out on the flat land and gained enough confidence to go up the hills.
There are lots of spots to park and hang out under a shad structure (some of them even have BBQ’s) and lots of bathrooms near by (get there before 10am to snag a spot on the weekends). You cant beat $ 5 entry for a day of riding.
The rangers ore pretty cool here but be careful and watch your speed as they enforce the 15mph rule on the main road. There a huge MX track and a smaller MX/​ATV track for you to ride. There are also two kids tracks as well. This is a family friendly park and there lots of young kids riding.
There’s a 4×4 play area with a mud pit, sand, boulders, stairs and obstacles.
If you’ve never been to Carnegie its worth checking out!

Carnagie… wow where do I begin. I have been riding here since the early eighties and while it has changed a bit it still remains one of my fav places to ride. You have to catch it the right time of year fall, winter and spring as summer gets to hot and dry. Beginner friendly sure if you have a experienced scout leading you around otherwise can be a bit intimidating. For the experienced rider though it is a great practice and training place, I mean where else can you ride 40 min from the bay area? Carnagie is under attack though from the evil greenies as they beleive nothing should be there except nature itself… boooooo! We have to band together and stay politicly active to keep our riding areas open, visit
and stay connected. Long live Carnagie !!!

What a great place to ride. You can bring the hole family. Awesome tracks. The 4 wheeling track rocks! Another thing is it very close to Livermore. All day fun for only $ 5.00 dollars. What a blast

I call it my second home. I have had the privilege to ride here since I was 4 and now have been riding here for more than 40 plus years! I must say I do miss the times when you could ride and do whatever you pretty much wanted. I love this place, it’s close by and times are changing. Let’s help to keep it open by supporting
. I really would like to give back and let my kids and future generations enjoy this place. If you can ride here you can ride anywhere… Oh I forgot to mention no cell phone service oh yeah!!!

As someone that has been riding bikes since the age of five, i like to think i know a thing or two, and as long as i have been riding, ive been going to carnegie all my life. Carnegie has trails, hill climbs, motocross tracks (as well as a track for the tots and one for the quads), and even a little bit of trials of you look around. I usually go during the weekday so i can get the park to myself. Most of the time the rangers keep the park nice and groomed every so often. Alot of of the fun has gone away ever since they closed the bottom of carnegie cause of conflict pertaining to the bed creek being contaminated, but theres still alot of fun to be had. The best part of carnegie is that is very close to home; on the outskirts of livermore.
PS, they are very strict when it comes to speeding on the fireroads, so i reccomend you do the limit =]

Love to go, close to home and many different terrains. Just watch it on the 2-​way single track trails. VERY DANGEROUS. Use the signals to let on coming riders who is behind you. DO NOT DRINK AND RIDE, YOU WILL GO TO JAIL AND HAVE YOUR BIKE IMPOUNDED! The Parks Police are all over the place, especially on heavy days. They mean business. DO NOT SPEED ON THE ROAD. YOU WILL GET A TICKET. Just follow the rules there any all will be good!
The shop is great! The new owner is a hell of guy! Willing to help you (if he has the time) fixes a flat quick. He replaced a jet for me for $ 20.00. Took him a little time as well. All around helpful and treats everyone like a rider, not a looser.
The kid tracks are good too. My 9 year old loves it (his first year of riding). The kid track in the far back is for 50cc — 70cc bikes, so dont feel like youre doing someting wrong by telling some kid on his 125 to get the hell off the track!

I’ve been here about a half dozen times, and even when it has been crowded down in the parking area, the trails have never gotten too congested.
The park is huge, so if you’re willing (and able) to ride the different trails, you could easily spend hours upon hours riding around. There are also a few closed circuit tracks, if that’s what you prefer.
There are several bathrooms, water fountains, and a general store/​café on site, as well as picnic table and even a camping area, so the amenities are also there. You can’t really beat a $ 5 entrance fee, either!

I want to give Carnegie 5 stars, but I just can’t. Don’t get me wrong I always have a great time when I take my bike out. My biggest issue is the 2 way trails, there have been a few close calls. I also don’t like how certain trails start off easy and then jump to expert. I ate it a few times when I first started riding because of this.
I love how big the park is though, much better than the congestion that I sometimes run into at Santa Clara. If you love hill climbs this is the place to go, I often just park the bike and watch and wonder how some people can make it up such a steep hill.
I recommend going out in the afternoon and riding until it closes. I have found that there are less people than going out in the morning.

Time to get dirty!
My first time dirt biking here at Carnegie OHV. Carnegie is not beginner friendly, but can be extremely fun for the experienced. The beginner course is pretty much starts with a hill climb. Definetly not what I was expecting for a noobie course.
Another negative is the two ways trails. Watch out or be taken out!
I would recommend Hollister Hills for a more flat trail type terrain with smaller hills to climb.

My ass is pretty sore… and no it’s not from what you think. Dirty minds.

I have so many found memories here that it just puts a smile on my face when I hear the name. This place isn’t a State Park where you go hike out or do trails. The type of trails being done here are by dirt bikers and ATVs. I enjoy this off road landscape better than Hollister because it has all you need plus a mud pit where you can spin all the D’s you want. Just be sure not to hit a passing rider (they tend not to look out and can be real jerks thinking they own it.
I’ve had trouble here before and asking for help from another offroader is never difficult to find. Even when one of my friends needed tools to help take parts of my engine out. During the fall/​winter season they have huge, long, deep mud puddles that will just get you purely stuck. Of course it’s not fun UNTIL you do get stuck. NO matter what type or size engine you have, you can always have a good time here.
If you decide to take the back road from Livermore be sure to go easy on the windy roads. You can easily get in to an accident and some even pull off to the side of the road to let their breaks have a rest. It’s all curvy down hill from Livermore. But you can always take the back which would be the freeway from Tracy. They’re both equally the same distance depending what city you’re coming from.
There’s no gas station nearby so make sure you have a full tank before you head out and have a friend or others with you in case anything does go wrong. If you’re going on a day that isn’t popular have someone with you that can pull you out of a mud pit if you get stuck. The tow trucks won’t come save you and if they do, they can charge you an insane amount. But if you do end up needing a tow truck to pull you home, have someone help you get back on the main road and then just call a tow truck form there.
You won’t get any cellphone service so be sure to use the front desks office phone or have a CB in stalled or have one handy. I love having a CB, they’re so much fun!
Admission for the day is about $ 5 bucks and you can get pretty muddy. So don’t try and wear something to try and impress people. Or PJ’s, I don’t know why so many females like to wear PJ’s for any outdoor sports.
